i did that a month ago. everything worked fine. some problems with the grafic configuration first, but then i could install aa25assist. but i had those two effects then:
1. was very laggy (and it was a real hardcore pc)
2. as i started the game, punkbuster told me that the operation system i am using is not correct....(strange)
then i stopped the testing about win8 and virtualbox - and i deinstalled win8, because i had a real bad os crash, which couln't be fixed. all lost...

btw: virualbox (Oracle) and VM-Ware, not the same. i am talking about virtualbox

with this mod you can open the slots - and this i like very much. also you can make mapvotes to change a map when more then 50% of the players want it. nice mod. nothing with hacks, just a fun part.
centanly you can make high jumps and stuff like that, but i only like the mapvote and openslot part of it.
therefor i have installed it.

thank you JonnyM, yes mAAp's are not possible to change, therefor i did make a scrolling text for all maps allowed to change/vote

Windows7-64b, Intel quad-core i7 series, 8gb ram.

tested (installed as a home server):

normal aa25assist -> everything works fine
modded Server, ultimate mod -> everything works fine
modded Server, weapon pick -> everything works fine
ppss -> some strange thing -> jonnyM screenshots are all pink, mine where good (solution probs?)

thank you for keeping the modded part. i just did think what would happend if you did deactivate it. maybe 2 groups of aa25 players. one with the newest release and one with this one still running now.

and of corse, thank you for embedding the personal configurations into the aa25assist, very good Job!!
and hopefully the cheaters will be reduced now to nill or a Minimum
