Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Sound of the weapons
« on: Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 14:50:23 PM »
They don't change depending on environment, I understand but as you guys say it can be done.
I said there might be a way to do it. What it meant is that, in theory it should be possible, but I don't know whether or not it is in reality. Now that Spanky answered and we now know it can't :)

Yes but if you look at AAPG they have updated version of sounds that play with the right gun, the difference is in this game, where ever you be your gun will sound the same, let's take M16 or SF gun, every gun that is in the game sounds the same in all environment.

I think it could be implemented, I think there was one discussion about it but can't remember what was an excuse for not doing this kind of amazing feature, it runs an old ass sound, implementing more realistic sound would feel more like in the battlefield than at the laptop, I listened on AAPG and the sound there is awesome :)
AAPG is a newer game, newer engine, it would have had a lot of different things.

And not all guns sounds the same.

This being an army game I'm pretty sure that they would have used the actual sounds of the guns.

You can hear a difference between shooting in a room and outside as well.

However, the sound that real guns make depends heavily on the environment and much more than just whether or not you're inside. Larger rooms have a different echo than smaller ones (it also depends on the surface of the walls, ceiling and floor), in areas with trees the gun sounds different than in an open field. There's just so many different variables that would need to go into calculating what the gun should really sound like and this engine just isn't built to make those differences.
There might be a way to implement a finite amount of different sounds to the game and have them play at different situation, but it would be tedious work (and I don't guarantee we can do that).

And it might also be possible to change the current sounds, but with our limited budget (or lack there of), we would get nowhere near as clear sounds as would be needed for a game (unless we ripped it from another game I suppose).

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Improvement on the chart !
« on: Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 12:01:13 PM »
As has been said, AA runs on an old engine, so improving graphics is very difficult.

Obviously, as you can see from AA3 Pipeline, better graphics are possible, however since the engine has limitations, it comes with huge performance issues and neccessity for optimization, which in the end still won't properly get rid of the performance issues. This engine just wasn't build at a time that computers could render such "beautiful" stuff as you see on newer games and therefore it was made as an easy engine that doesn't have those capabilities.

Spanky could probably make all the maps look as pretty as his Pipeline or even prettier, but because of the limitations of the engine, even high end machines won't run be able to run it properly.

A second point might be (although it's probably not such a huge problem nowadays), that the reason some people play AA is because this is what their computer can run and it can't run all the new game releases.

All in all, a good suggestion, but I don't think we can promise much.

AA Support / Re: Tracking problems

I've gone back as far as 8.11 and checked that we send the same data.
Everything checks out.

I'm certain the problems started on Battletracker.com, and here is my reasoning:

If I look at a server that has problems (with client sessions not being tracked), I can see all users and their points on the serverpage, since they are there, I know that our 25Assist servers has sent them all the information.

Right. That makes sense.

The amount of payers that care too much about their tracker is too high. Ofcourse we all cared one day or another about our stats, trying to improve them etc, but when you realize the game you play is dieing, you should just stop caring about numbers and play it for pure fun only
A bigger problem IMHO is points and Honor, though. I know it's not really as important nowadays, but it's still something to thrive on.

I guess you're making progress, which is good. But it does seem the problem lies at BT, so there is little we can do at this moment short of contacting Homey (which seems to be next to impossible).

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Another change for Hospital

with  a good team vip could do just find with 30 bullets, then again hard to fine good team that actually helps vip , would be cool though vip having a flash lol, i'd be rushing garage all the time lol

no but all seriousness nothing more needs to be changed, I like the hummer, but why not a bmw 550i????
IMHO the only time a problem arises when VIP is alone. But Hospital is usually popular enough that one doesn't need to play 1v1 too long.

And, no, going back to 8.14 is not the fastest solution.
If you say so. I was just thinking that might be a way to test whether or not it was something that was changed in the new version.

Could it be as simple as the number of players are causing the problem.
I was using an external tool, gslist, and up to 10 players on a server, it gets a proper result. with 11+ it timed out.

I'm testing further.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if Homey limited BT network capabilities, since we're pretty much the only traffic that site gets nowadays, it might have seemed cheaper.

Wow, nice thread, never saw that one.

Yeah, respect is something you need to earn. I e.g. worked hard many years to gain some.

It's a few months old. I guess it was when you didn't frequent these forums for some reason.

Hard to say since I don't know who you are. Maybe leave your BT link so people could see your previous (or current for that matter) names?

Can you do a beta release reverting back to v 8.14 and a bunch of us could join a server and we could see how it works? Would hopefully be able to prove the problem is at battletracker.

News / Re: AA3 maps with double points for a week!
« on: Monday, October 20, 2014, 15:41:32 PM »
@teddy
It would be fine if you do this with such maps as HQ Raid, Swamp Raid, JRTC Farm Raid, River Basin, Mountain Pass, Bridge SE, Mountain Pass SE....
Don't worry, other maps will definitely follow. We just had to start somewhere :)

News / AA3 maps with double points for a week!
« on: Monday, October 20, 2014, 08:29:07 AM »
You heard me! Hop on to any AA3 map and your points will be doubled until 27.10.2014!

Points for Goals, Leader and ROE get doubled while the regular amount of points will be given for kills and deaths.

This is in an attempt to get people play various different maps. Next week your favorite map might get double points! :)

If you didn't know, there are 8 AA3 maps:
[AA3] Ranch
[AA3] Bridge
[AA3] Pipeline
[AA3] Stronghold
[AA3] Shantytown
[AA3] Impact
[AA3] Airfield
[AA3] Alley

When the week is over we will post who got the most points on those maps.

Now what you waiting for, soldier? Hop on to an AA3 map and enjoy!

Hooah!

I talked about a case while VIP stays alone...
And I said, if escort worked together, he shouldn't have to.

Hi
I have a suggestion to give VIP one smoke and one flash...
Sometimes, VIP stays last against 2 -3 ambush guys, if they are "smart" enough vip will never get out from the hospital alive. In this case, smoke would be helpful.
Also, many times vip been killed first while ambush team rush inside hospital. Maybe one flash will delay the rushers until escort guys will come in.
 What do you think?  :style:
To be honest, if Escort works together, it's not too hard to cover the VIP. I don't think he needs any additional help.

Because that's the reason why this topic has started, PRIVACY.
Why the hell did you bring in the 'illegally distributed game' argument then? It's just because you wanted to bitch and moan.
