Your Assist versions is probably 8.12, the newest one is 8.16. You just need to download the latest versions. Use the link on the top of this page (the "Downloads" button).

The reason your game isn't updating automatically, is because since we're having trouble with battletracker tracking players, we're conducting some experiments on an older version (v8.12), which is why I thought that's probably the version you're having trouble with. Just download the correct one from the link on this page (Downloads link on the top) and all will be fine.

Even with 1680x1050 (my resolution), the first title does it.
I tried it with my other monitor and it's still there with 1920x1080. It's not eating up a lot of text, but if you know what you're looking for, it's there.

You can also just highlight it:

General Chat / Re: Porting AI to 2.5 (Lost topic mergendice)

True, is old ... but 'limited'..? It depends on what you want to achieve - e.g. each Splinter Cell including the last Blacklist was build on the same engine and look, how different it is. Don't know how much you guys know about the map optimisation, but there is many ways to do it right - sometimes you have to sacrifice something in order to get better performance.
As for AI: AA developers approached this problem in a very different way than Epic, so most of native calls / functionality are disabled or non-existent. Most important, there is no CoverSystem implemented (didn't check the objective support) ... I mean, AA AI is in very basic stage of development - probably (scripted ...) is just for the E3 shows.
Basically, this AI is useless in the gameplay.

Of course the engine is limited! Why else would they move on to a newer one with newer versions of AA?

Optimsation is just that, optimisation. You can improve preformance, but you can't remove the need for the processor and/or GPU to calculate stuff and with this engine, it's probably impossible to fully optimise features which this engine wasn't built for (i.e maps from AA3).

And you need to understand that adding anything to the game is much harder than it should simply because we don't have the source for the game.

With that said, I don't think that adding a smarter AI than that which the official devs did would be a bad thing, I just think it's more trouble than it's worth.

neXus is an ex-comp player -- to a certain degree, that explains the frustration some may be dealing with.

On the 'walking with no sound' -- I've heard it to be possible. Not sure how it's done exactly but I think it's something along the lines of:

1. Double-click 'W'.
2. Initiate Sprint-mode.
3. Stop as soon as you start running.
4. Double-click 'W' again.

Anyhow -- this goes beyond the point. The point is, nexus is a legit player.
In later versions one could 'walk against the wall' while moving forward and not make any sound since they they didn't want you to see higher when you were walking against a wall.

But that's only for the guys spectating right?

2nd link btw: http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/651509/
I figured that's the one they already had :)

And I do believe the no footsepts only happens on spectator mode. Have only experienced it on friendlies, though (you don't know if an an enemy is close if you can't hear them I guess).
I would bet its the same way the no ladder sounds happen on spectating mode. I believe it's something to do with the fact that you're switching to the player when the sound should already play and the game then doesn't reinitialize it.

Graphic Detail Normal
WideScreen FOV ticked
Advance FS ticked
Full screen mode 1366 x 768
Window mode 1023 x 600
Windows 8 gemma unticked

That's what I got, you should try update your graphic card if nothing helped from my settings.
When you in window mode, try alt + enter, it goes to full screen and from full screen to window screen.

Like I said. He's problem is not the game settings. It's the graphics card driver settings.

General video settings:
WideScreen FOV  [X]
Advanced FS  [ ] (screen 0)
FullScreen Mode [X] 1024x768
Windowed Mode [ ] 1023x600
Windows 8 Gamma [X]

I guess you're trying to represent what Assist settings say.

Like I said, your problem lies in the video card drivers.

Use a PM when sharing private information that allows people to access your computer!
However, I don't know if he has time for it right now.

Is there any disadvantages that needs to be taken into consideration if we gave VIP 1 smoke?
Well just a smoke wouldn't probably have too much of a dire consequence IMHO. But with these things it might be that you put it there and only then can you see what happens...

Then the question is, edit the original map or create a mAAp Bridge/WC/whatever?
I bet I'll be hated on this, but I'll say it anyway.

One possibility would be to make a new and improved one and have people... wait for it.... vote for which they want to stay.

The reason you don't see your thumb with widescreen is because of that, wide screen. The game, instead of adding to the edges, cuts off from the top and button, when you use widescreen resolutions.

Now the reason you have black edges is usually graphics driver related. There's usually options such as 'stretch' or 'keep aspect ration' somewhere in your driver software. You need to change it to not keep it's aspect ratio or to stretch the screen as needed. The specific values and places to switch them will vary depending on your graphics card (and it's driver).

For me and my NVIDIA driver (it's an old one since newer drivers crash my system), all I have to do is open "NVIDIA Control panel" ->"Display" -> "Adjust desktop size and position" and change to "Use NVIDIA scaling"(instead of "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed aspect ratio" or "Do not scale")
This will, however make a circle in the game appear like an ellipsoid on your screen.

Optimization, optimization, optimization.

Look at my beautiful, wonderful Pipeline, LOOK AT IT! Sure, it's not a high FPS map but a lot was done to improve the graphics without sacrificing too much.

I wouldn't want to touch Hospital, I think it's a well designed map and there's not much to be improved upon. I would like to see the older AA1 maps be updated. This would be Bridge, Weapons Cache and others. They are old and can easily benefit from some graphical updates. Keep the layout, just make them prettier.
If you have the time, I would say you can definitely do that. But anything added might change the layout a little. For example, add a bush and people will camp behind it. Add a dumpster, people will camp behind it (pretty much anything  you add, people will try to camp behind :D ).
So you'd have to be careful :)
