Hahahaha, ya it is 95% javascript. Nice find. I also see that either big G either doesn't like me or someone just smacked the guy that changed the web page because it went back to the original Google style :)

EDIT

OMG THATS A SCARRY COUNTDOWN

IMO, I'd go for something a bit more modern. 2.3 runs a fairly really old engine. The whole point of revitalizing an older AA version would be to build new concepts on top of the old ones that are already there.

What you can do is send a nice letter/email to someone at licensing at AA if you could have the source or tools of the depreciated AA version or you can ask Epic for the SDK or source for Unreal Engine 2 and reverse engineer AA from that. Have fun getting anything out of them though, they don't like to answer their mail or the mail boy throws it away not even getting to the eyes of someone important.

You can do what you want, cuz a pirate is free. But honestly I'm answering because I haven't seen any new posts for a while and I feel like I have to post something somewhere.

Apparently Epic released UE3 for free. Everything seems to be included but if your going to sell the games then you pay a $99 royalty fee and give them 25% of everything you make after $5000.

Okay, well I'll let you guys decide what to do.

Hardware/Software / Re: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

As a kid, I always loved the Playstation. PSX was one of my favorite consoles and to this day I still love what Sony does for the gaming world. The PS3 is a phenomenal console and from even before it was out, there was a lot of anticipation that it would bring great things. Personally, I knew that the PS3 would cost a shitload because of the hardware it uses, which is exactly why games can look so beautiful (that is, depending on how smart/hardworking the game developer is). Everytime I saw people complaining about the PS3's price and how many times Sony would try to cut costs, it made me sad that they were selling low on such an advanced home console. But now that manufacturing process has improved for them, they can manufacture PS3's with less moneys making them more accessible to people.

Uncharted 2 is one of those games that really trys to use the PS3's power to make the game much more visually fluid than others. It looks like a lovely game, and it brings back those memories of old games where they had to use gameplay to entice people to play because the best graphics were at the same level as the above average MS Paint user. Luckily for Uncharted, it can combine awesome visuals and great gameplay/enviornment to make an awesome game.

tl;dr - PS3 graphics own, Uncharted 2 is fucking hawt!

This is slightly off-topic but I think this is a good read pertaining to UE and AA.

Scroll down to Unreal Engine 2.5 and look at America's Army. It says it uses UE2.5 from version 2.4 to 2.9 (MOVES Institute). But next notice how this blog post was made 1224 days ago or August 18, 2006. They must of gotten this info from somewhere to know that AA would go to version 2.9 and that there would be an AA3 on Unreal Engine 3.

If I remember correctly, AA went from UE2 to UE2.5 on version 2.4

Pictures Analysis
That screenshot feels like it has a full-screen shader going on with it, some sort of bloom effect on distanced objects. The game seems to be drawing the game on a box, just like AA, where the sides of the screen are distorted and longer than things in the middle of the screen (you know what I mean when I say theres less fog on the screen corners ;)). For the most part, seems to me like low poly models, mainly BSP-based architecture for everything, shitty vegetation, and over-exposed lighting. OH! I forgot, that screenshot has realtime dynamic shadows, AA does not :)

Okey, analysis over. Do what you want.
