Hardware/Software / Re: What Makes an Excellent Sound Card?
« on: Wednesday, April 11, 2012, 14:34:33 PM »
The question is, why are you listening to MP3's in the first place? FLAC or GTFO.
Meh, all of my music is mp3. I've heard FLAC files, and they do sound better, but it's not really worth it for the file size. Not to mention my Zune doesn't support FLAC files. I get no more enjoyment out of FLAC files than I do out of high quality MP3 files (320kbps) The difference is there, but I'm not going to waste a ton of space for a small quality increase. It's also all about convenience. My Zune doesn't support FLAC files, and even if it did, it wouldn't have enough room to hold my entire music collection. That is a big problem. And even if it did, I'm not willing to spend hundreds on headphones just to hear the quality increase FLAC brings. It doesn't make sense.

As for speakers, I don't know much about them. The only speakers I have is a Kicker ZK350 Zune dock and 4 new speakers I just bought for my car. 2 rear Rockford 6x9 speakers and 2 front Kenwood 6.5 speakers(old ones sounded like shit). No need for a subwoofer as I don't listen to anything that is supposed to be bass heavy. My speakers provide way more than enough bass.  You can talk about how they aren't the best quality all you want, but they sound great to me and I didn't spend all that much money. I think the same thing applies to these computer sound cards. Sure they may not be the best like some claim, but I'm willing to bet they cost much less than the super high end amps and what not. It's all about value for your money.

Again skrewy, what the fuck are you even talking about? You know that banging your hands on a desk can be considered music? As long as it is in a rhythm? You don't have to be in a band or have recorded a song to make music, you're an idiot for thinking you do.

I'm late cos I was getting ma beauty sleep but.
1. lol, so your saying anyone with a song is an established musician and you ask why I only listen to them, maybe its cos I the others dont have songs to listen to.
What are you even talking about?
you watch *some hockey team* play hockey, why didnt you watch that team during there professional career in taxidermy? is it because it didnt exist? because I find it hard to listen to music that doesnt exist, the silence gets to me.
Still have no fucking idea what you're trying to say.
2.
to say Jim Carey is better at certain parts then tom cruise because of his training and not his personality is moronic at best, you cant train someone to be a wackjob, thats all skill.
You actually can train someone to act like a wack job. It's moronic to say otherwise.

IMO, if you like something like that, participate in it. I have nothing against the activity itself it's just that it seems mindless and boring to watch someone else do. Like watching someone paint or a crew doing construction.
There's a lot more action in sports than painting. Stuff happens instantly and it's not all that predictable, especially in sports like hockey. Some sports matches have more intense and suspenseful moments than action or horror movies. Not to mention the imense amount of skill required to play the sport. If someone likes sports, they like watching sports. If you don't like sports, you probably don't like to watch sports, that's what it boils down to. If you don't appreciate the skill and planning it takes to play and coach sports, you won't appreciate watching the sport. You're trying to make it sound like they are boring by comparing it to slow and boring things to watch, which is stupid.

I guess we got to the root of this discussion. Entertainment isn't useless, I agree with you there. Where we disagree is that I think there is no entertainment in watching someone else play competitively.
Yeah but that's subjective and adds nothing to the conversation. I don't get any entertainment out of Rap music, but that is still considered entertainment. Point is, just because one person doesn't fine entertainment out of something doesn't mean it's not entertainment. Everyone is different. To me, it is fun to see such talented people playing a sport I like

The difference is, sports is just people being competitive. Music and movies are about telling a story with emotional connections you can relate to. Which is why most people have favorite genre's they enjoy. There's a huge difference in being actively competitive versus watching other people being competitive. The latter is useless.

OMG he dropped the ball... OMG he hit the ball... useless.
Since when was entertainment useless? It's fine that you don't like watching sports, but don't call it "useless," because that's just ignorant.

As of right now we only have proof that you were 38 honor. That's all we can give you unless you provide some more evidence (screen shot, link, etc.)

I have tons of 'un-established' artist and bands in my play list, I even had me in my playlist at one point when I first got my ipod and tested its voice recording by recording myself say "kill everybody" and it auto added itself to my itunes play list, ofcourse I removed it when every now and then after a song I'd hear myself tell me to kill everyone and it started sounding like a reasonable request but back on topic, this prob isnt a good example cos training doesnt make good music (beyond practicing a song before releasing it.) if a group puts out a song I like and they have no training I like the song as much as a well trained group, I dont put it in my play list named "untrained but groovy"

this is reason not to stalk and emotional fall in love with actors, movies themselves are stories and I love a good story that fits my taste, and some actors are great for certain parts not because of there training but because of how they act, like jim carey to tom cruise, both trained actors but u couldnt put tom cruise as pet detective cos hes not right for it.

if u didnt ignore me on steam u would be somewhat wiser with the advice I had.

I also laugh at the thought of mans and his bum buddies watching the 'pros' play league of legends when they could be playing it themselves.

I wouldnt watch a professional masterbator because hes more trained at it then I am.

1. If they call themselves a band, have a name, and play songs, they're an established band.
2. As for actors, you just helped prove my point. It's all just training. Yes, some wouldn't be good for other roles, but it works that way in sports too. A baseball player can't simply go and play professional basketball. You can even give example within a certain sport. A pitcher is usually not a good hitter and so on. It's the same for movies, bands, and a lot of other forms of entertainment.

It's only training, it can be applied to anyone.
Why listen to established music artists and bands then? Anybody can make music, all it is is just practice. Why watch movies? Anyone can act, it's only training. Do you see what I'm getting at here?

I don't either. I've never understood the fascination people have with sports. To me, there's just something odd in watching other people do things that you could do. Much like watching other people play video games.

/threadcrap
I'd love to see you try to hit a 98mph fastball. Sure you can play sports, but not nearly as well as professionals, which is what makes it fun to watch. The best of the best going at it.

I was actually at work when I saw the 11th inning walk off home run by Avila. It was awesome. Even with shitty pitching we still have enough offense to get the job done.

Although it is strange because whoever banned him didn't let the rest of us know. I also didn't know it was a bannable offense. I've seen a lot of these kicks and only just recently have people been getting banned for it.
