As earlier discussed, is it possible to put fy_pool_day_5v5 in this version? I still have many friends who want to play it

Here is the 2.5 version of that map, I've tested to load it up on a server, and join to play.

This map didn't have any resources that wasn't in 2.5, so it was rather "easy" to create a 2.5 version.
I have created a tool that can translate package-mapping for resources, and hopefully I can make standalone packages of the resources that are missing in 2.5 as the next step.

Got any more requests?

Hello,
after playing hundreds of hours in AA 3, I decided to give 25 assist a try, since AA3 was so buggy. So I downloaded assist and immediately began downloading 25. All went well until I hit step 8, the sounds. It will download everything, but when it tries to decompress, I get a big, angry "Installation Failed at Step 8, PLease check your internet connection then click DOWNLOAD to resume the Download" (yes, the please had the p and the l capitalized). I am certain that I have internet connection, so that is not the problem. I have tried it at least 10 times. Anyone have any idea what's the problem here?

I tested to download again, and got the same problem as you, was going extremly slow, then I got the same error message as you.

I did this to solve the problem:
Hit the Download button for Americas Army System inside Assist, it asked me if I would resume, and I did.
Download finished at full speed.

I need some challenging to do, so......

Name a 2.8.5 map that I should convert to 2.5
Remember that AI will not translate to 2.5 so I'll remove that.

If this was for public distro, I'll have to relocate all resources(textures, objects)..
But as I said, I need a challenge.

Is it possible to add fy_pool_day_5v5 which was pretty popular in 2.8.5?

Furthermore, I beleive Big_sergio has some good cvars.

Anything that can join 2.5 and 2.8.5 players(Former and Current) should be an priority.
If that means adding maps from 2.8.5, then effort should be put into that.
Just as a sidenote, when reading about AA4, and it was mentioned that SF Hospital was to be added, people was really exited.

If I can help with something when it comes to convert 2.8.5 maps to 2.5, I'm willing to help.
At the same time Included Maps should be pruned, in my opinion, that is.

If you mean the dot shot and kill straight long alley... it's demorec bug. He used zoom.

Join the server -> start demo recording -> zoom in/ out/ in/ out -> stop demo recording -< play demo.

You won't see zoom in/out animation.
anyone else notice the no recoil ^^

The "No Recoil" on the footage is just an artefact of Demorec just as tidididi said.
The Aimdot and muzzleflash was added in postproduction, so make nothing of it.

Spead the word of the Winter League to all your old AA friends(and perhaps to those that never played it) by sending them a link to the Promo Video.

unless we move foward ^^ lol

The map it self can be converted to 2.5.
Someone wrote a handy tool for that :)

But true, it wont have much Coop left on it.

This program can extract resources from any version from 2.5.0-> 2.8.5.

So if you want any of these things ripped from the game:

Textures
Sounds
3D Models
Player Models
Full Maps

New in this version besides much increased performance when converting encrypted packages is that the Full map export now is fully functional.

At first startup, the program will ask what folder you have installed AA.

Then do your selection, and hit "Load and Export all Packages", wait until the "Export Done" is shown(This can take some time)

When it' done you'll have gigabytes of game resources to play with.

When importing the map into 3DS MAX use these settings:

After Import a map into 3DS MAX, run the maxscript with the same name as the Map to import light and Terrain-Textures, plus fixes some issues with the textures.

If you want to import Playermodels into 3DS Max, use the maxscript called RSK(SkeletalMesh)Importer.v2 that is included in the zip file.

Hi all.

Even if I'm rather sure none will use this program, I've decided to release it anyway.
The program can extract resourses(Textures, Staticmeshes, Sounds and SkeletalMeshes) from:
America's Army versions from 2.5.0 to 2.8.5

Usage:

Extract the content of the exe file to a new folder, on your desktop or somewhere else.
At first startup, the program will ask you for the path where you have AA installed.
It will create 5 new folders in the same folder you started the program from
dds,Here it will place the Textures
Maps
Obj, Here it will place the StaticMeshes
Rsk, Here it will place the SkeletalMeshes
Wav, Here it will place the Sounds


Just click Load and Export all Packages and let the program process all the packages..
This will take some time to complete.

To use the SkeletalMeshes, I had to export to my own format(RSK) so dont look for any program that will be able to import that format, however, I've added a maxscript that can be used in 3DS Max to load the SkeletalMesh.

This is still a Beta, so if you use it and finds a problem, post here

thx for posting ELiZ! i'm not sure if he knows how to build a unreal package, but, that will bring the light :)
ELiZ, are you able to convert 2.8x UScrit to 2.5 code or 2.5(actually UE2R) code to aa 2.8x?

It was long ago I accually did work INSIDE the unreal editor, byt the trick should be to add the static meshes and textures to the myLevel package, no?

I never cared to mess with , reading, writing or coverting those packages, but I might take a look.

Create a new folder, extract the exefile to that folder.
Make sure that you have this newly created OUTSIDE of any AA folder,

At start of AARE3.exe, it  will create 5 new folders.
dds- Textures
Maps
Obj - Staticmeshes
Rsk
Wav-Sounds

AARE will ask you for the folder where AA is installed.
Then Click Load and Export all Packages.
