Does anyone use the compass for anything besides dropshots? That's a gameplay killer. SAI was voted on by the users. Despite what some people think, opinions of the users are listened to.

LOL!! Just keep the servers like they are with NORMAL GUNs!!! Modding ruins the game !! :)

This post reminds me, we had a vote about this too. Unlike you say ArmyAntiCheat, we asked the users what they thought.

This is a very small community and every user should be treated as yourself.

I'm impressed. This is the first reasonable thing you've said.

I never saw ACU on Bridge Crossing, not even in 2.8.5.
It always was snow camouflage.

Example:

BTW:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Dress_Uniform

I did not play 2.8.5 much, I assumed it was used everywhere as that's what happens in real life. You referenced the wrong article, that's the old camo that the game shipped with. Here's what you should read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Combat_Uniform

Quote
The U.S. Army uses the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP), which blends tan, gray and green (Desert Sand 500, Urban Gray 501 and Foliage Green 502) to work equally in desert, woodland, and urban environments.[4] Similar to the United States Marine Corps MARPAT and Canadian CADPAT camouflage scheme on which it was based. This design, however, is not as effective as patterns with color schemes specific to a single environment and may have been implemented due to budgetary constraints.[5]

We could have gone with MARPAT but then it wouldn't be America's Army now would it :)

The way the game is developing I see no point in supporting nor donating. I disappointed over this community and have no more support of it, just going to see some news how's 2.5 is going on and the rest of it. And the question is why would we donate/ support if the game is not seeked from the community trust and opinions. The game is not as it was years way back. The game is already like 2.8 and its moving that way but you all forget how 2.5 was years ago, how it was played. But now I see only selfishness of making the game better and better like the tipical ''modern gameplay''. Since it's not 2.5 assist anymore to me because of these updates, why not just move to 2.8 then? The official news about 2.8 haven't been released but I know it was discussed way back.

Don't like the SAI? Disable it. Very easy.

Tell us oh wise one, how was the 2.5 years ago? The way I'm seeing is 26 players 4 years ago;

And that was before auth went down and with mods!

When modding was allowed, it dominated the game and player counts went downhill as those that remembered classic gameplay came back and then left. Before people figured out how to add mods to Assist, we were having days with 220-250+ players online at a given time.

I think it's pretty fair the way it is now. The devs discouraged mods and yet we still allow them, just untracked. That also ensures tracker integrity as there's mods that mess with points. You apparently enjoy tracking, if you play legitimate on a SF-Mod server, aren't you going to be a bit pissed that someone is allowed on the same level to choose RPG each round, camp and get a better tracker than you?

HANG_JEBAT, as far as your training goes, you probably didn't have a BattleTracker account before January 2012 did you?

How are you playing without a Network Interface Card? Kinda need one to connect to the internet.

Something to extend this idea would be to only show servers from a specific region as well.

Rob, that's a minor difference. PB publicizes screenshots, we don't.

You can control which informations you share with Assist. Close it or uninstall it :)

The thing with allowing people to help is that trust needs to be established first. There's several people in the dev group that weren't here years ago. That's because they've been proven to be trusted and vouched for by other people. We wouldn't give full access to anyone at the drop of a hat.

It's not "wrong". Look up ACU and you'll see that it's 1 type of camo used by the US Army for any terrain/environment. Other branches of the military like the Marines use different camo in different environments.

The TOS isn't there to protect us legally. I'm very well aware that TOS and EULA's often don't hold up in court. The TOS is purely there to alert users of what's going on and guess what, it's working. The things described in the TOS are the only things being done on your computer. We're not hiding anything else. We can't access data on your computer. If you don't agree with this approach that is VERY similar to PunkBuster then feel free to uninstall.

People are ungodly concerned with "privacy". If you're that paranoid, don't own electronic devices and if you do wish to own them, don't put any personal information out. Get the fuck off Facebook and any other social medium.

Facts are that the screenshots aren't public in any way. They are not transmitted to the auth server, even temporarily. Sure, someone can hack in and intercept the transmission but come on, if someone is that good, wouldn't they be spending their time doing something worthwhile rather than stealing some Polish/Brazilian screenshot of him watching YouTube?

ArmyAntiCheat, why would a dev, such as you claim to be, code hacks for a game he helped make? Despite your thoughts of how horrible and violating we are, we're actually pretty nice and democratic. We welcome anybody that wants to help. If you can contribute something that makes these "privacy invading" screenshots obsolete, well, doesn't that make everybody happy? This offer is extended to anyone that knows UScript, Visual Studio or just "proper" security communication to go through Assist's RealBasic code and make things better.

You might want to re-think this.  Either keep it from taking screenies of the desktop, or warn users in the TOS about visiting their banking institution or watching porn or whatever.  Heck, maybe a video conference is going on and you can see inside somebody's house...you get the picture of how bad this can get

That's the whole point of the TOS. Assist is taking a screenshot of the environment in which it is operating. If you want to alt+tab to view your bank account numbers, that's your deal. I've never seen any information in online banking be dangerous. Sure, maybe an address if you're viewing a Paypal transaction but so what? You are the one controlling what information goes into your computer.

Also, I've said it before, if we wanted to be malicious, we would have already done something in the last 5+ years Assist has been running. Like use Assist to harvest passwords and try social engineering to gain access to your digital accounts. A lot of people use the same password for everything. The screenshots are not for public viewing and frankly, they're not being taken at a timed interval. The screenshots are being taken when Assist requests them. Most users will never have screenshots taken of their computer. The screenshots are only a step for those players that are suspicious. When those screenshots are taken, they are only accessible by us devs.
