Yes, your AAOt Player ID is the new GUID, No matter how many times you change your name your AAOt will always be the same, and AAOt also lists your previously used player name so there is history there too.
But as always nothing stops you making a new AAOt account, although it does stop you using the same e-mail address multiple times so that makes it difficult.
All i have to do i put the AAot ID in a little text file and player can no longer use any Assist servers.

Is there a chance that a physical unit serial number ID (e.g. hard drive serial ID) can be registered when getting tracked? That would be a much better solution (you can make dozens AAO/Battletracker accounts while getting a new harddrive is more expensive)

Thanks for going through the maps lol.

Glass kill house is an excellent map for all pistols. I prefer to play pball with default m16 and no nades/flashes. However I probably only played square like once, so no opinion :)

You're welcome, i just enjoy playing the maps, i'm not the typical 24/7 Bridge crossing guy ^^

Ah, it honestly isn't a show stopper so i didn't posted before, there's some screen shaking when i join some maps like Ice - Monkey Island - Shipment. I thought it was some camera issue but i'm just taking a guess (unless it's happening only to me so it would be just a client issue of mine xD).

Z-fighting? didnt knew that texture had love/hate feelings  ;D

Don't worry about the hackhunter version that comes with assist, it does not cause any problems, your admin problems were in my old auth.u

??? admin side you mean? I discovered some, erm, very basic false positive. E.g. you drop a grenade, an enemy gets it, and he gets a warning for uncorrect total nades amount...

PS Major Screwup.
Do me and all other players a favour and dont answer in their names. You just made me lose a year or longer playing this game.

That's rude. He's trying to help out players and Jonny who's the only person who can fix the honour stats issue.

Aside of the pure fact that he actually was trying to get your gaming years stats back.

If you were looking for someone to throw rage against i would have rather looked somewhere else.

Fair 'nuff. I wouldn't take PBall too seriously anyway since it's purely a silly kill map :) LOL @ Ice though.

Ice really needs help, there's a hole (a map hole) behind the rocks that are above the tunnel (you can climb above it), some map border not defined so yep you can fall out of the map and well the trees floating.

Since you're talking about PBall i recall there was at least one wooden ladder that "sounds" metallic. Not a great issue it's just a little wierd :)

In Square there's some kind of wierd effect on some building's texture on your left at defense spawn (i think it's defense), basically it seems almost like 2 textures overlaying or some meshes not behaving.

Ah, Defense 2nd floor stairs on Bridge Construction not being functional (it's physically there but you cannot walk on it).

About smaller maps like Square and PBall, i saw a server being set to use shotguns only on Square. And overall it was pretty cool (plenty of dancing). PBall it's small-medium range, i wouldn't really know which weapons to choose. Sniper rifles would advantage those skilled, m16 or other automatic weapons the rushers. Oh well, pistols then :)

ok thx. i'm currently downloading v2.5 with 25 assist. see you later.

I would just install AA2.5 to a folder called in a different way (e.g. AA25). If you're using the Assist it's probably more that trusty as the person who made it is aware of that.

I still have 2.8.5 on my pc, they're working fine aside of a little sad feeling as i miss some maps like Interdiction and Snakeplain. But i can live up to that.

Yeah im getting this same issue.

Well it seems if you close out Assist after you launch the game and before you go in the server you get kicked.

??? O_o why would you have (or need) to do such a thing? Aside of the fact that it's the Assist that allows you being authorized authorised ::)

Souds a little crazy, but ...
... the windows build seems to work on a cli linux server with wine and X11 forwarding.

1. install xauth on your server (apt-get ...)
2. edit the /etc/ssh/sshd_config and enable x11 forwarding
3. reboot or restart the ssh server
4. install wine, links2, xterm
5. login to your with ssh -X -l sth x.x.x.x -p 12345 -> X is with shift!!!
6. try xterm if a window opens on your desktop with xterm in it, forwarding worx
7. Download assist windows and unzipit
8. wine 25Assist.exe

hooah

Checked for punkbuster compatibily and behavior? AA2 seems to work decently on wine but Punkbuster is reported to be a pain in the butt (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=908) due to "unknown Windows APIs", on client side. I don't know how it would on server side regarding windows API calls.

Can join ice ok on my server.

Hmmz. Right after joining Defense (you were on assault) i received the message "you will join this team as soon as possible". But it ended up switching me to your side! Funny :D

Btw joining assault on your server worked fine (joined after you left)

This map has something wierd to it, i can hide inside a tree (in a standing position). That's because some trees reach the water/ice level (which seems to be not "water" but rather a trasparent texture object) but they don't reach the lake bottom and are empty too. ;D

The only was i see this happening is the mp60_pipeline and breakout have gone missing, Re-install maap pack should fix it.

EDIT: Wait a minute....
Failed to enter MP60_Breakout.aao: Servers can't open network URLs
Executing UObject::StaticShutdownAfterError

Breakout was missing from the mapname - filename translation table, Well spotted sir!
Can't find an issue with pipeline though?

Trying to test all the mAAp maps, so far only had issue over mAAp Pipeline and Ice (taking out Breakout since it's solved): about Ice, i have the same bug i had before as i can join but after doing that the match doesn't start. This however isn't Beta related as i had the same issue with the normal assist (and i don't know if the maps features a minimum amount of players required to start the match, either).

EDIT: tried hosting mAAp Pipeline again, now it seems to be working fine.

This happened when i tried to start the server to host an mAAp map, so far it only happened with the mAAp Pipeline and Breakout, while it doesnt crash on other maps like Square Bridge Construction, etc.

Would it be any possible/practical to run the server on a virtual linux machine? Considering he's running on a Powerpc processor it also  may be the only other way for a homeserver. Still, i guess it's not easy to setup and on the other hand i wonder if the G4 is powerful enough to accomplish to that kind of duty on a virtual machine.

p.s. all of that was written thinking as of not installing a Linux distro on his hdd...otherwise i would just partition/repartition it and install a PowerPc linux distro.

I was trying to host a server as usual with the new 2.192 beta today, i have some issue with my server end as it seems not communicating correctly on the authenticating part.

Basically i get this timeout error" Timeout waiting for verification response from selected gameserver", when i try to join it (it's an homeserver and i am joining by localhost - join button on the assist server tab).

I've uploaded the server log.

http://199.91.153.174/hl6zz4wpcttg/yivomqy34bgp3vf/timeout_error_log.txt

P.s. is it happening because we're not allowed to host authenticated servers yet?  :-[ sorry if it was the case.
