we are all part of the problem, including me. ive obviously eaten at mcdonalds and watched transformers. however i dont need them. many things make absoulutely no sense and are RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR FACES, pot is one of the best widley used medicines that cures like a millions things yet its illegal since much more money is made off pharmaceuticals which kills tons of people and has people addicted to highs that are turning people into mindless idiots, having kiddie porn is legal in new york city. (having it not manufacturing it, yes thats fucking sick regarless yet its legal!)
That's a loophole that they're trying to close at the moment.

Also, it seems like you're saying that anything we don't "need"  to survive is bad. That is a stupid statement.

everything you base your ideas on is from the past 500 years on this earth. the earth has been here for billions of years and humans have been here for millions of years and your ideaology is based off what percentage of human evolution? all of the shit we have today has already been discovered and died off before us. we have only re-discovered a small amount of information that we used to have. too many people looking in front of themselves with their hands on the sides of their eyes so they can only see straight ahead and not to the sides. thats what most people like you do. wakeup, go to work, go to sleep, do it again. a slave who chooses to be blind to the truth that you are supposedly 'working' to survive, when you are ultimately working to waste your life on the things that dont matter. food, clothing, shelter. all free given to us from our planet, that your profession/job have raped the benefits of and commericalized on. i could go back to school to be an engineer or some other societal slave but i chose not to support whats killing our own society. theres no more balance in this world and people will start to slowly realize it as they already are.
Wow, that is the most BS post I think I have ever read. You might thing you're "deep" and "open-minded" but really you're just spewing a bunch of unproven bullshit. What's the purpose of life? I'd like to know seeing as you seem to know everything.

it actually is possible.

Jaque Frasco is a genius and they are starting to implement his process in a city in florida.

Resource based economy
No, the theory is fundamentally flawed and impossible to implement in today's world. Communism will be the end result of capitalism; when we advance so much that we do not need anything more. That is when communism works, but it's an impossible end result. Society can't grow under communism, there is no reward for innovation. A modern society cannot function without a government, without classes, and without greed. It won't happen. Not yet at least, not for a very long time, if ever.

i know that my thoughts will never actually happen anytime soon and not everything i say is right or correct but atleast i got something to say, i just like to step back from the bigger picture and express my ideas, im not trying to offend anyone kinda just venting some frustration and babbling just saying what comes to mind, i dont mean any disrespect killaman, and i know i probably just seem like some hippie kid from california. which i am but im also someone who has worked hard for everything i have. nobody ever gave me a handout and i wouldnt take one. the profession you are in is one of great respect. being capable of becoming a doctor or engineer is great but its for those who are not capable that deserve the same luxuries. people dont have a choice where they are born, who they live with , and what country they live in. you just gotta live life. now days people dont live, they are caught up in the facebook and what chip mod is on their STI or how many gigabytes in a hardrive. when in reality that stuff is making all of us the same lazy slob ass americans. and who do we worship, the computer the tv the job that makes the computers and tvs.
You seem to be generalizing a lot of people though. That's the problem.

What's so bad about communism, comrade?
I'm talking legitimate communism, not the phony baloney communism that the USSR used. No government, no private property, no currency, no classes. It's an impossible utopia.

we live in a society where they train us to do all this work for a bunch of stuff we dont need. computers, cars, cellular phones, stuff we dont need, yet we praise the people that make them and own them trying to give all our time and effort to have things we really dont need. United States is shit because too many people worship fake idols like you. i been surving on my own since 16. went to san jose state on a loan that i couldnt afford to pay which is why i dropped out. i would have finished if i had more money. im not saying education is a bad thing or having money is a bad thing but it is because people like you who thing because you are capable of doing certain things that you have the right to more power.
What world do you live in where things that aren't necessary to survive aren't important? You seem unable to grasp the concept of an economy, of human wants and desires. Things like computers are made to fill the desired of humans. Everything comes back to what humans want, what they will work and pay for. It doesn't matter if we need these things to survive, people will pay for them. As long as there is demand, there will be people supplying it. It seems to me like you want a fantasy utopia that will never exist. Where everyone is the same and there is no demand for entertainment or material things. You're essentially a communist.

no it shouldnt. each and every person deserves the same. thats the way it should be. you are a capable person and educated. some people are not, some people dont have all the same opportunity you have. some people, yet some kids gotta pay for their mommas rent in order to support their brothers and sisters. EVERYONE deserves the same house and the same cars as every other man. If thats the way it was people would not steal and people would not hate one another.
That ideology would work if everyone was the same, but that's not the case. Sorry to break it to you. Everyone does not deserve the same stuff, that's a dumb statement. A lazy slob who contributes nothing to society does not deserve the same amenities as a hard working person who does a lot of good for society. Your idea is very close to communism. But the one flaw is that people are not all the same and never will be.

if a person is educated, why should they make more than someone that is not. what gives them the right to have a better life and have more opportuinites. u read alot of books now you get the most comfortable life (stupid) thats like saying if your handicapped or mentally retarded you dont deserve to have a nice life since you are incapable of being smart or educated (not all handicapped people are incapable of learning but the ones who are). since our country is so set on having the highest standards then make the right choice and even the playing field between blue collar and white collar jobs. it all has to do with our schools i think. schools recieve money for how well they do in testing. if you go to a school in wealthy city of the  country their test scores are high so they get alot of money. if you go to a school in a poor city their test scores will be low in which they recienve less money. now doesnt it seem that if a schools test scores/dropout rate is negative, wouldnt it be wiser to give more money to the schools that need more help? rather than giving more to the schools that are already exceeding in test scores and parent donations?
If I spend a ton of money and time studying to be an engineer, why the hell would I get paid the same as some filed worker who didn't spend nearly as much time and money learning to do their job? I would have ten times the amount of skills they have and I worked hard to learn my trade. Why on earth would anyone spend the time and money to get a complex job when they can just get a labor job that pays the same? it doesn't make sense. You get paid for how hard you are to replace, and that's how it should be.

As far as it goes for me I wouldnt consider myself a "spoiled American proclaiming my country is shit" As i said before i wouldnt want to live anywhere else. I'd rather fix the issues that this country has and you cannot deny it has issues. First step to solving a problem is knowing and admitting the problem. Not just turn the other cheek and ignore them and say the country is not in trouble because it is.
The U.S. has many problems. Corrupt and useless government, too much corporate influence, student loan crisis, etc. I never said it didn't have issues, that's not what this topic is about.

I never said you were one of the spoiled Americans, but Archi seems to be, and his comments are basically what this topic is about.

too bad the guy who does the actual labor who sweats and breaks his back gets paid the least, while the people who sit on their ass get paid the most. corporations own all of us. if teachers made $200,000 a year, education in U.S would be a job that everyone wanted so the best candidates would be the teachers, why cant a guy who picks strawberries in the hot sun make as much as a computer science major? physical work vs mental work? wtf is the difference, both are hard jobs that require a lot of time and patience. we need some sort of system that balances everything, (communism haha jk) this is why i quit college, i got fed up with people only wanting to pay people that want to sit on their ass.
The fact of the matter is you get paid based on how hard you are to replace. Almost anyone can do physical labor, but not everyone can be a computer programmer, you need to go to school for that.

As far as the topic goes, I'm sick of idiot spoiled Americans proclaiming their great county is shit just because it's not perfect. It's stupid beyond belief.

I updated this program. I was testing Max's Office map out and realized there were some shortcomings with this program. Now, all you have to do is put in the map name and it will launch a LAN server and then launch AA so it automatically joins that server. Once AA is closed, it kills the server and returns to the main menu to start all over again.
Damn, and I thought it was convenient before. :P

No no no, we have the EPA and FDA allowing toxic substances to be used. We're one of the slowest countries to respond to environmental damage because there's so much bureaucratic crap to go through and so many big companies funding things in the opposite direction. Countries like France get things done because the government isn't as corrupt and the people have the power.

True, but France is also surrounded in debt worse than the U.S. and has a enormous unemployment rate. I wouldn't use their government as an example of a good government.

As for education, I live next to 2 college towns yet in all the correspondence I do with people via e-mails and Craigslist, there's appalling examples of a lack of basic English. I know you'll say "well that's on the internet, that doesn't count" but it's the attitude. If they're that lazy with a couple of keystrokes, how the hell do they manage through life every day? That's just my local 100% proof, no speculation example. I believe that nation-wide there's a growing number of kids that don't give a shit.
Just because you live next to college towns doesn't mean most of the people you talk to attend or attended college though.

I split this thread for a juicy conversation. I think the US is going in the shitter for many reasons, just a few:

1. Environmental Damage (pollution from oil and everything derived from oil)
2. Declining Health (from farming and food processing practices)
3. Finances (the Federal Reserve and constant decline of the $)
4. Education (less and less people care about basic education, even English)

Of course, a lot of these problems are world-wide so I can't blame the US for that. I would only move if things in the US got real bad, bad enough to drastically affect my way of life. Right now the economy and education stuff doesn't really affect me. I don't have much money and I've not been to college but those things don't really degrade my happiness and quality of life. Anyway, I have no hope for humanity, I just live the way I think is best for me and my surroundings, that's really all anybody can do.

This thread isn't about the U.S. declining though, it's about how Archi said that it is shit, which is clearly not the case. I also wouldn't say less education is a problem. More and more people are going to college. You can't compare today wit the past because peopel didn't need an education to get decent paying jobs, but now you do. The real problem is the student loan situation that will eventually burst. Environmental damage is a problem, but the U.S. is one of the smallest polluters among developed countries when you put its size into consideration. We have some of the strictest environmental safety laws, the problems is international.

Yes we have a high standard of living but things in this country are getting worse and worse. Our government is getting so bad its sickening. Our economy is in a free fall as usual. Most other countries in the world laugh at us because:
1.We have more people imprisoned than any other country in the world.

2.We have the worst obesity problem in the world.

3.Our education system is absolutely horrible.

That all being said would i want to live anywhere else? No I wouldnt. Things DO need to change in this country though and they need to change soon.

1. Valid point
2. No, our obesity rate is right on par with the UK
3. No, it's actually very good compared to most other countries.

Our economy isn't in a free fall, it's been getting stronger ever since the recession. It's not that great, but it's a hell of a lot better than what most of Europe is going through right now. I really don't understand how any sane person can call the U.S., one of the wealthiest developed countries, shit. Especially compared to all the 3rd world countries there are. It's ridiculous and basically comes down to Americans bitching because they always need to find something to bitch about.
