What legitimate purpose does this application have for America's Army?

Personally, I'm stumped. I can't think of a legitimate reason for it but I can think of ways for it to be abused and used for an unfair advantage.

However, even if you did get everything (functions, assets, maps, etc...) it would still feel like a different game. Engine dynamics play a big role. Slightly different networking code would be enough to drive hardcore dedicated players away. It would be a huge effort and even if it was popular, you'd still have to deal with the fact that you're ripping content from a game without permission. Yes, we do do that here but taking from AA 2.8.5 or AA3 and implementing into 2.5 and keeping the same gameplay, it's kind of a grey area.

One idea;

If you guys want open 'community' style servers where admins come from a mature background and various clans then maybe it would be a good idea to have Smoke setup the official AAO25 Assist servers again (they went down a while back for some server reason, AAO25.com went down at the same time). I'm sure as long as it's good advertising for Low Ping Servers then he'd work something out. He was running 3 for us at the time, very good ping in datacenters in the US.

ELiZ just said, "Account Stealing" was not the right term to use, it's a previous ban. As far as disgracing the Army, yea right. Keeping the game alive with the values and gameplay it had when it first came out and banning cheaters is a definite disgrace.

Not fixing that bug is your loss, not mine. I don't even play, but I remember when people had to close their pc to fix it. I'm sure this is going to lead to a player decrease

So you don't know what the problem is or how to fix it. Why not shut the fuck up then?

We know about the bug, we have no idea what it is or how to fix it. We don't even know when it started or whether it's a server issue, client issue, mod related or Assist related. So, unless someone else has some ideas, there's no point talking about it.

I didn't ban it so I won't unban it. I just have a few points to make;

1. Demanding something doesn't mean it will happen. It's more likely that it won't happen due to your poor attitude.
2. We have no "rights", we have no permission. So revoking it would do nothing, even if you could pull enough strings. If they wanted to stop us, they've had years to do it. As far as knowing people involved in the game, I've talked to a few devs a decent amount and they appreciate the work we're doing and the approaches we've used to keep the original gameplay alive. I don't know about you but my scale tips heavy in the direction of the group of developers with a passion to keep a nostalgic game alive.
3. Giving your account to someone is one of the stupidest things you could do in this game. Why? It's easy to setup an account and if that person tries on hacks/exploits, you will be banned as well due to linkage. Sure you can appeal it but a link is a link and you'll remain banned.

With all that said, maybe you can ask nicely and not cop an attitude. After all, you have no "right" to tell us what to do.

Maps should not be removed because they take up space. Why? Users have already downloaded it and 1.3MB is absolutely nothing. What is that like 2 seconds of a YouTube video? That's not even an e-mail with a shitty cell phone picture.

Maps should only be removed if they aren't in-line with original gameplay ideas OR custom ones that nobody plays. I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't remove any original maps yet we should be able to fix bugs in them.
