The Lounge / Re: What are you interested in?
« on: Wednesday, March 07, 2012, 18:12:19 PM »
I ride bikes, mountain bikes, BMX and a fixed gear bike for getting to and from college (TAFE). I also have been playing guitar for the last 9 years but cant play much any more because of tendinitis in my wrists.

I love getting up to the river whenever I can and going kneeboarding / wakeboarding with mates and while I am up there we often go shooting rabbits. I see myself as a pretty active person.

Hey you're such an active person indeed :) BMXs seems very nice to ride, i've never had one. Just riding around with different mountain bikes in different conditions.

General Chat / Re: Advertising AA2.5

As far as i am aware, every buck that comes from donations goes straight into the running costs for the Assist authentication server.

Anyway everyone having a blog, a website or a forum with freedom of choice regarding banner advertising links could virtually contribute.

I also believe there's a matter of using the Assist logo strictly, as every part of the 2.5 game client including logos and the name itself falls into the specific Terms of Use that you accept when installing AA 2.5 . But it's just my opinion.

P.s. also, i understand your point about performance regarding older hardware. But i'd rather throw an advertising pointing out the best points that AA still has to offer (e.g. free to play, tactical gameplay, ability to run your own home server, custom maps availability, etc).

The tunnels seemed way out of the way at first but when we were playing last night they actually went with the gameplay pretty well. Nobody that I know of got lost down there.

I agree it makes sense to have a tunnel system in Refinery. I have a faint memory of it but if i recall it's quite straightforward, i thought a little more random path like in Pipeline would have made it even more interesting.

General Chat / Re: ban for admin login attempt
« on: Tuesday, March 06, 2012, 13:31:26 PM »
So there is no other way to kick other than being admin/PA and using admin commands?

Punkbuster power points, unless you already meant about them above. Basically you're given a defined amount of PB points that let you performed well defined actions, as kicking a player, banning, etc. . And obviously the player having such points doesn't need to be an admin.

can't you just make the range of the sound smaller?

Yeah, theorically it has to be the emitter radius that lets you hear afar, if it's setted for a wide radius.

That's what channels are made for. If you want to chit chat it's fine, but in the lobby/generic area channel.

The processes look normal. You could try to close GoogleCrashHandler and AppleMobileDeviceService. What is SeaPort.exe?

Seaport.exe it's linked to Microsoft Search toolkit. It can be disabled via config ( services.msc )

http://forevergeeks.com/why-is-seaport-exe-process-running-on-my-computer/

Pc specs? Which Operating system are you running on ?(edit: it's XP of course) You might also take a Dxdiag and post it, it might help too. It seems you're running on Nvidia with a integrated Realtek chip for audio. If you never take your headphone jack or microphone jack off you can shut down RHDCTPL.exe too (you can restart that process anytime).

How to obtain your DxDiag file (Windows XP or older):

Code: [Select]
1. From the desktop click: Start > Run (or windows key + r).

2. In the blank text field of the window that appears type “dxdiag” without the quotes. Press run or hit enter.

3. Another window should appear titled DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Near the bottom of the window click on “Save All Information…”

A popup should appear with a progress bar, this may take a few minutes.

4. After it completes a dialog should appear asking you where to save the file, I would recommend saving it to your desktop (automatically selected) with the default name and file type.

5. Open the file on your desktop (or wherever you saved it) and select all (ctrl + a) and copy (ctrl + c).

6. Paste the information in the tags (ctrl + v) as it can be quite heavy. That is it.

If you do not want the Computer name to be shown, simply go to the fifth line of the document, and where it says "Machine Name:", replace the computer name with "*". Note, this information could not be used against you in a hacking attempt.

Honor Claims / Re: Honor claim for 24karat^
« on: Monday, March 05, 2012, 13:17:06 PM »
Im sure you have to minus the Roe for BT, but would like someone to work it out and confirm it aswell..  Probably need to look at an account that has always been tracked.

Spanky is right. Read the following link -> http://manual.americasarmy.com/index.php/Honor_and_Rules_of_Engagement

Quote
As stated honor can go up by being successful in America’s Army however it can easily go down when you violate the ROE. ROE is cumulative, and adds negative points to your overall score. This in-turn can cause your honor to go down.

I already posted about it on Battletracker, why don't you make a poll and get people to vote? If you'll get enough people someone might start porting it back to 2.5 . Unless Eliz releases a version of the AARE tool that will allow everyone to port 2.8.5 maps and materials as a whole to 2.5 (of course that would imply a complete download of the material that are in 2.8.5 - without the ones that already are in 2.5 of course).

Your honor was 91, and it still is 91. Have you tried logging in in the Assist (using your Battletracker data, if you don't remind your password go here -> http://battletracker.com/index.php?form=LostPassword ) and play?

AAOtracker became Battletracker some years ago. You just need to remember which email was linked to your AAOtracker account (as it will be used to email your password renewal link).

Thanks for your reply Koden, nice to hear you found a quickfix...

I'd rather wait to hear Spanky's opinion about the fix, as i've doing a thing that has some impact on performance. Basically, it should make BSP - which are game main geometries - more detailed. So, there's less chance of holes, or bugs, but there might be a performance impact (although the map was running fine on my system even after building it that way).

Anyway, once Spanky told me that it's possible to convert BSP's into static meshes, so to make them lighter and probably even less buggier. That would draw us two positive points in once.

Well, i setted the BSP in build options completely to Minimize cuts - 1, build it, and seems like there's the wall is no more now. So maybe that was a BSP issue.

General Chat / Re: server settings for instant auth
« on: Sunday, March 04, 2012, 11:06:44 AM »
I don't have to wait 5 minutes, i barely wait 1 or 2 seconds usually. Maybe it's about your connection? Try a ping test to the Auth server or to a game server.

For authorization to fail? O.o if you're testing authentication or waiting up to the run out time that's another matter.

I assume you already have a Battletracker account that links a player name.
