Same here. The only exception is when you can see someone through a wall but I only ever saw that in older versions like 2.3.

I still see a tear ect, think this happend on later version also when players push against walls. 
I simply learnt not to do this..

Ok i can set mode1 so it just says authorized, thats as good as it gets.

I think mode4 is the official auth that we used to have?

For security reasons we need everone using assist to have an extacly matching file set

Not sure how not having a map file becomes a security risk..

Why don't you break up the maps so people can choose which ones to download.  Or option to download everything.

I have over 300 maps and I have seen half these hosted on servers before.

So why download something if your never going to play it, unless your like me and don't care if maps are 70Mb and you have over 6GB's of them.

It is an option in the Tournament Admin Panel in-game. I saw it. It's just that your server probably has to be in Tournament mode for it to work as it's default value is True. I'll have to pester Blueblaster to check it out in the source and see if we can force it in regular mode.

I'm not disputing torny mode I know it is a options, its in the ini file also.

I've added the normal mode openweaponslots to the ini.

I have not seen a server with closed weapon slots since 2.7.  Since so many 2.8.5 players are looking to migrate I see this as one of the single biggest issues that they will not like.

When an enemy isn't moving you can see his shadow and it tells you where he is... some players might think that's an advantage and people saw an opportunity to disput matches, i guess dev team abolished shadow's for that reason in 2.7. Tomorrow I'll post a ss if necessary.

Shadows were not abolished in later version, they just gave you the option to turn them off..

I like them as it is more realistic.

AGP_GameTournament bTournamentOpenAllWeaponClassSlots

So it must be possible for regular mode as well...

I added the correct line to the ini but this still doesn't work. 
They probably didn't add it to the code yet as it's also not in the admin panel.

Can I request that you allow a option to open all weapon slots. 

This is available on later version and sometimes its a pain when you have around 4 players and you want some fun and can't choose the same weapons like a S.

If I was younger, had time and spankys enthusiasm  I would be trying to do the same thing.

Surely there is always a roll back.

Might even make all my old Pentium worth something again.. :)

Sorry, I was the one that got bitchy and irate. For me (and I know Jonny felt this in the past as well), I'll have what I think are good ideas with good intentions, I'll make a post about them and someone comes along and pretty much insults my ideas. I realize I/we can't please everybody. So, let me explain what the immediate benefits of initial merging would be:

No more moving mAAp/Normal files before starting the game, No duplicates of files (T_UI2 is an example), Trimmed down files (solely for the purpose of re-downloading), Same PB configs, Ability to improve maps (lighting, FPS, fixing any glitches, possible physics).

That's just off the top of my head. You mentioned "look at doing the same for latest version", what do you mean by that? Do you mean adding/ripping features from 2.8?

I don't try and insult anyone, but like to give my thoughts based on my experience.
You know more about the code and how it works than I do, I just don't want to see a situation where we start heading one direction that people don't like. 

If you can guarantee that then changes may be a good thing but I still can't see how I will benefit or anyone else really with most of this.

The things you talk about have already been mostly overcome by time and technology.

Now If you can make me stop lagging on oversea's servers then that would be something.

And yeah the SAI once you get used to it is better that the crappy compass.  You could have a option to have one or the other or both at the same time.  Also makes it hard for the noobs to do spam shots, one reason I don't play bridge, along with the fog that some player have little of.

so what ur saying is, cos cars are faster with better suspension then 40 years ago we shouldn't worry about fixing roads, I mean who doesnt have a nice comfortable car?

I'm saying I'd rather have an Original 1975 XY Ford GT Phase III HO on crap roads in Australia than a 2012 Ford FPV GT driving on the autobahn in Germany with all the mod cons to make driving it easier..
