Correct.

This thing needs to be non-honor. Until we have some general mechanism, I want that admin to just disabled hackhunter. I tried to contact him, but so far no response.

Ban Appeals / Re: Bans without "hard proofs"

Here is an update to my dictatorship "no proof" ban rule, which I think will make everybody a little bit more happier (well, honestly I don't care about making you happier, but this change actually has logical sense):

First ban of this kind is a temporary "warning" ban (e.g. for 1-4 weeks). Second is permanent.

Rationale:
Because "no proof" ban method is prone to errors by definition, this will minimize banning of innocent players, while at the same time, it will not affect banning of cheaters. Possible scenarios:
- innocent people banned will be released and happy
- accidental cheaters ("my cat jumped on keyboard and it executed inject.exe") will be released and may even become legit players (lol)
- real cheaters will still cheat, but maybe more carefully this time (less owning), if not, they will be caught eventually anyway

So now i will unban _all_ accounts banned using this method (those were all temp bans, according to above).

Even if I assume you had some theoretical _perfect_ ghosting (up to the precision of gun movement), you should understand that this is indistinguishable from cheat both in terms of observing it as well as unfairness to other players.

I can pin point people where they are with sound... im just saying and some of yall posting here know what I mean.

Some people "pin point" with sound, some with ghosting, some with other stuff...

But I don't care what method is used for "pin pointing", as they all are indistinguishable. And "pin pointing" is bad and therefore bannable.

;-P

Your FR has nothing to do with it, i didn't even look at it.

That evening on CSAR you went to one opfor after another, with no hesitation (you didn't even stop running), and over large distances (so no explanations about sound will do it). When being close to them, you aimed perfectly at them, watching at walls in the direction they were. And you did it for a few rounds in a row.

There is no way this ban could be removed.

Thx Pit

Don't thank me. I didn't do it to please anyone. This case simply wasn't clear enough for me at this point.

I talked with this guy some more, we went to the bridge, he showed me that he can do crouch+turn+shoot+turn+prone combination in that tunnel quite fast, fast enough that some glitch might cover it.

This makes this case doubtful enough for me, that I unban him.

If you do that Pit, we won't have any problems anymore right ?

No, it would be almost the same. Only instead of people shouting "you can't ban without proof", there would be people shouting "you can't ban based on this recording, it doesn't show anything".

AA is doomed.

Oh yes, it is. I took it over with a secret plan: to ban everyone with FR >= 1.0, innocent or not, so that I can own the remaning noobz, and pawn them hard until they all quit. Then I'll take all the remaining donation money, go to some warm nice place, and enjoy life.

Impressive and nice post. But if you had read my first reply in this thread, you could save yourself a lot of time and effort.

Talking about his experience, knowledge of map, great sound, low ratio, good reputation, etc. etc. etc. is really pointless, I'm not arguing with this, I assume this is all correct.

The trigger for the ban was a single action he made in that tunnel. Let me describe it for you again in more detail:
1) Player is proning facing the A end of the tunnel, waiting for opfor X which is expected to come there.
2) Opfor Y enters the B end of the tunnel (from behind of the proning player).
3) Opfor Y gets killed instantly by the player, but the player didn't even look like he moved. After the kill he is still proning in direction A.

How do they call it? 180 degree turn, "on a dime"? But this time it was while proning.

You're an idiot. We have a ton of people complain about them being hackers. As a matter of fact, we KNEW they were hackers, because, try to follow this, THEY TOLD US THEY WERE HACKERS. Of course this was all done by PM because they actually wanted to help us detect the hack if it meant they could still play. We agreed, but then they just kept obviously hacking and I decided it wasn't worth it. So I banned them. There, that's the whole story. Happy?

All those account owners PM-ed you/us admitting they are cheaters? No, only the first few did (the "original" accnts). You (and others, including me) banned the others without even spectating them, cause we "knew".

What I'm doing is controversial, sure, but at least I'm trying to be coherent. You couldn't be more contradicting yourself, with what you wrote in that quote above.

Go find that thread and show me where I agreed with him. Go ahead. I'd love to see it. Not only are you avoiding the argument, but you're now accusing me of doing something I never did.

I didn't say you agreed. I said you were quiet. Very quiet comparing to what you say now.

Also, the whole "the person before me was worse" argument is a very weak one and justifies nothing. The point is that you're compromising the integrity of the game just to "try" to catch a few cheaters. I put try in parenthesis because it isn't certain whether you're banning cheaters or not.

Can you just read the verbatim text I wrote, without creating additional intentions I had in mind? My point was not to criticize Jonny. I was writing about the scale of your reaction to my actions, by comparison.

Pit, you can try to rule AA like a dictator, but you can't stop people from leaving. Keep using rules that could potentially punish legit players and you'll have nobody left to play the game.

One more comment regarding the "dictator" thing.

Does any of you remember how Jonny approached the topic of cheating, when he was here? Let me remind you: "if there is undetected hack, I will shut down the authorization". And he was not joking. Well, that makes me look like a "weak pussy" in comparison, doesn't it? I remember me arguing with him, and saying it would be like nuking the whole city because of a few terrorists in there. And I don't remember any of admins protesting then too much.

So shutting down the whole game was OK for you, and now you call me a dictator, because I made a few bans (with some being a _perfect_ hits, if you remember)? I find that funny.

I perfectly understand that you don't like this way of banning, I don't like it also, there is nothing likable in it. But please spare me this "Pit is a dictator and goes after good legit players" talk, cause this is not what is happening. And don't talk about "potential", there is always a potential for abuse when we control the auth system.

I seriously hope you're joking. Comparing a murder case to a video game is laughable.

Just like comparing a ban to throwing people in jail...

What I find the most disappointing about this thread is Pit's attitude. Apparently legitimate concerns are now "bitching."

Why you think I referred to all critic as bitching? By bitching I meant... well... bitching, there was a bit of it, wasn't it?
