 Did you Right click on the executable and checked on the properties to allow to run/execute the program?

This makes me laugh. While I believe you, I would lay money that you're in the minority.

Ok , lets say that we have about 25% of the regular gamers with more than 25 years.
 It is true that the older people do not spend to much time playing games , but we are still coming to play this old and nostalgic 2.5 version.

I hope you get the error again after I make the update, so that I can find the bug :-P :-D.

 I had that error and only upgrading my ubuntu to the last version i fixed it (maybe with some time checking i could find the problem with my OS but...It was the time to finally upgrade)
 On the last days i tested with my testing machine (linux backtrack 5 r2),  and with that OS it is very strange because some times i have that error and other times it works without troubles.
 With the windows xp 64 there is no errors here.

EDIT: Windows xp 32 (the 64 was the older one installed)

We can't see any points in Tracker or Honor Icon on ACI History, so i'm afraid i can't be sure what honor you had before. Don't you have any Screenshot?

That training problem kicked me wen i tried to enter using the game browser.
If i minimize or close the game to use the 25assist it bugs my desktop resolution

 I first tested with the new 25Assist, but the program opens and immediately close with 1 error message on the console  "segmentation fault"
 ...Than i started testing with my old Assists and only the Null stay running , until i press DEPLOY and the program crash with the "An exception of Class OutOfBoundsException was not handled. The aplication must shut down" message.
 Nothing upper here worked for me because following what Mist!DasBrot did i am stuck with the " ./25Assist" .
 It say "./25Assist: is one directory"

 I can open the game directly without the assist or with the old AA-25Assist-Linux_Nul going to settings and pressing "AA MENU"
 I really dunno why this is happening with the new assist and the other old assists.....Have this something to do with the connection? The AA-25Assist-Linux_Nul was to avoid it wen your server was down,and maybe because that it doesn't crash too.
 

EDIT: I am testing the program in 1 old machine with the last ubuntu and it is working fine...So , the problem is only with the computer with the ubuntu 10.04 64 bits.
