Bug Reports / Re: Wrong Army Uniform on Bridge Crossing
« on: Sunday, September 15, 2013, 10:33:19 AM »
My post was a reply to Spanky who said:
"Look up ACU and you'll see that it's 1 type of camo used by the US Army for any terrain/environment."

Which is not true.

I never saw ACU on Bridge Crossing, not even in 2.8.5.
It always was snow camouflage.

Example:

BTW:

The ACU is used in all environments except for areas with snow, as the ACU works poorly against white. An all-white BDU and the ECWCS are used instead.

(...)don't keep discussing it
Thats the nature of an Internet forum, isn't it?

However, I thought mods would kill this game.
But it seems Assist forestall it.

It's like life support, there is heartbeat there is breathing but actually it's already gone.

They see my desktop sometimes.
Depends on what you have open at the same time!

BTW:
This "feature" is useless at all.

Do you thing the bad guys are that dumb to have their hacks run in a window that can be seen on a screenshot?
Not to mention a hidden taskbar.

Are their  any stats available how many of them got caught by this "feature"?
One out of one thousand I guess...

So you are going to scare of that much players only to get one or two cheaters?
Thats what I call a naive fallacy.

Rob, that's a minor difference. PB publicizes screenshots, we don't.
I don't care that much if screenshots of my gameplay getting public.
But making screenshots of any private stuff known to anyone is not what I wanna have.

A minor difference, are you kidding me now?

If you don't agree with this approach that is VERY similar to PunkBuster then feel free to uninstall.
I don't think so,
As stated before, PB don't take screenshots if the game is not in full screen mode.

People are ungodly concerned with "privacy". If you're that paranoid, don't own electronic devices and if you do wish to own them, don't put any personal information out. Get the fuck off Facebook and any other social medium.
You can control which informations you share at any social network.
You cant control which informations you leak with Assistant.

This offer is extended to anyone that knows UScript, Visual Studio or just "proper" security communication to go through Assist's RealBasic code and make things better.
If I'm not mistaken it was said by Assist-Admins that you don't make the code public available, didn't you?

But I see already 50 players that think the game is worth it
I wonder how many of them actually read the entire text and how many of those who did understood what it comes down to.
 ;)

Actually the "edit" button is removed?

Yes, you have to make compromises.
It's always a balance of benefit-risk.

But when it comes to a video game there is almost no benefit which would justify this lack of privacy.

There is a good reason why Punkbuster don't make screenshots while the game is minimized.

PS:
Removing this "feature" would be an improve!

hmm, no one tried but, Screenshots aren't stored or sent to our server
They don't even need to be stored.
If someone break into the server he can pickup the data in real time.

this project was also developed by common ppl, without great coding Skill
What makes the whole thing even worse.

BTW:
I don't even bother about 2-3 cheaters, what I am really concerned about is my privacy.

Someone else stated it before:
No game is it worth to run such a risk.

This screenshot "feature" is a no go.

Like use Assist to harvest passwords and try social engineering to gain access to your digital accounts. A lot of people use the same password for everything. The screenshots are not for public viewing and frankly, they're not being taken at a timed interval.
If it become public that there is a private data stored at the AAO-project you can bet your ass this will allure the bad guys sooner or later.

What is better than breaking into hundreds of PC's?
Right: Breaking into one insecure system which keeps their privacy's.

If you do not agree with the Terms of Service, please remove Assist and all related software from your computer.
Already done.

IMHO the only possible way to bring back AA is without third party software.

Privacy is the greatest good.
But if you knew about this border, why did you cross it only for some hacking bastards?

This is what happens if you give to much power to an immature pubescent teen.

we still need Jonny approval etc.
Isn't the whole project published under Sourceforge?
As far as I know you don't need any permission to use/alter those programs (regarding to the licence terms).
