The trick is, regardless of GNOME or KDE desktop environments, all you have to do is:

Code: [Select]
chmod 777 25Assist
chmod +x 25Assist

Now the file can be executed using ./25Assist

The "+x" states that it has an executable code to run before anything else.

should be very much same than in windows. copy&replace files what is needed and so on.

That's exactly what I did, including adding the ServerActors info and etc. to the server.ini but it still won't load either mod. Is there some step I've missed?

The steps provided in the readme's were exactly the same:

1: copy to System folder
2: Add specific value to specific areas inside Server.ini
3: Start server and enjoy mods.

But when I start the server up, mods aren't even recognized as legitimate commands.

Is it just me, or did ALL of the repliers to this topic just beat around the bush?!?! I mean seriously...

Now I understand that this thread has been inactive for at least 120 days, but that doesn't excuse the fact that every moderator or person that replied to this couldn't give a straight answer.

Really, if you guys are going to create something like the 25 Assist Auth server, then MAYBE, just MAYBE you guys would learn that NOT EVERYONE understand coding. Most of the mods I downloaded from aamods.com came WITHOUT a README file. Is it that hard to understand? Hell thought you guys were supposed to be smart if you came up with this Auth system... Then again, maybe we all were wrong in believing that...

For those of you who came in saying that MODS are what killed AA 2.5, guess again. What killed AA 2.5 is people like you who sit on your asses and complain all day that it's not setup the way YOU want it. Well guess what, the world doesn't revolve around you. So get over yourself. If you don't like the way something is setup, THEN QUIT!!!!

Now back to the topic. I have read the README file for the picker mod, and have a DEDICATED SERVER setup on a Linux vps running Debian. I'm no stranger to setting up servers, or coding. My one problem is that after following the readme file's directions LITERALLY TO THE LETTER, it won't load.

So is there a setting or True/False coding that needs to be modified for this server to work with the Picker mod? It's the mod that you just have to type 'say mod ***".

Any help would be appreciated... AND IF YOU'RE JUST GONNA FLAME, THEN JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE LIKE A GOOD 2 YEAR OLD CHILD.

Really the only mod I am considering is the WeaponPicker. That's only for the free-for-all server I'm running. The dedicated server isn't going to be. That one will be only for real genuine AA players who like it the way it was meant to be.

But honestly, the mod server is just something for others to have fun on.

I went for the Linux version, primarily cause of financing. it's just simply cheaper and in my opinion faster than most windows dedi servers.. Plus having had more experiences with linux, its just easier with a more direct gui interface.

Just gotta work out the kinks in the programming from server-side is all, particularly with mods.

hey guys, i'm an AA 2.5 gamer from the good old days, and just found out recently that the game was back up. I'm in the process of getting an old clan back together under a new name, but having some issues with the Dedicated Server side.

Several people have asked me to mod my server, which I don't mind doing. However, I'm running a VPS on Debian and having trouble figuring out how to inject. Just about everything I have looked up says its possible, but noone seems to have a clear tutorial or explaination on injecting the mods on a linux OS for a VPS. Anyone got any ideas what needs to be done?

Thanks,
Paul
