Hardware/Software / Re: Thinking of building a new pc
« on: Monday, June 25, 2012, 13:50:37 PM »
In the past i have just bought bundles and replaced the pieces in them that were weak. BUT i have been told you can get alot better for cheaper by building your own tower.

I'm not a BIG hardware guy, So help me out as best you guys can. I'm trying to build a gaming capable PC with a budget limit of around 800 dollars.

Where in gods name do i start?

800 $ will get you a very decent pc if you get yourself the parts and do (or let a friend do) the assembling. Don't go cheap on the power supply, a good power supply will last for ages and will hardly ever fail or die on you! (good power supplies also feature overload protection and will generally be more power efficient).

I recently assembled myself this system:

Asus Crossfire extreme IV
Corsair HX 620
AMD Thuban 1055t x6
8 gb Corsair ram
Sapphire 5850
+ the cooler master 690 case.

I just played with "sk8rboi" on Hosp.

He's shady to say the least. he was doing bad -- some people started to talk shit and next thing you know he found the VIP - and killed any player in his way for the next 3 rounds.

People started to call him out for cheating -- he left.

He hasn't stopped tklling for "fun".

Sandstorm without wind won't be Sandstorm anymore.

Who is able to hear, he can hear. That's all.

It's so funny to me, that someone actually complaines about the sandstorm noise in a map that actually takes place during a sandstorm :D . I guess that's a real hassle for those sound-tweaking whores trying to listen sounds from one end of the map to the other.

The DMCA policy is rather funny.

Those guys are the owners. What a pesky location.

Honor Claims / Re: Honor problem
« on: Monday, June 18, 2012, 18:05:31 PM »
dont need kills for honor

honor per kill
10
honor per objective
atleast 100

points for idling at spawn on hosp as team leader when your teams winning
infinite

its like the game devs wanted it to be more then just deathmatch so points per kill is nothing

If only there were more people considering this point of view.

mAAp Project / Re: Simple Questions in the Editor
« on: Monday, June 18, 2012, 18:02:59 PM »
I think the terrain "resolution" makes a difference too. Forest terrain texture is 256x256. I wonder how it'd look if you stretched a 128x128 terrain to the size the 256x256 occupies. Its basically a poly count difference.

Shouldn't that look simply half the res? 128x128 is quite small. Btw, how does the engine works with texture memory usage? Does the amount of copies of a single texture matter in any way?

I DO.

So, what does honour means to you? I'm not going to judge your opinion, i'm simply interested about it.

sometimes when i am trying to login for Assist , it's say near authzation server : Failed to connect , it's when my net is busy.
but why that in assist ? in normal AA we never got that ..

It happens not only "in AA" (using the game client) but using any other application. It's not an Assist fault if you load your connection up to its maximum capacity and then ask for every app to work flawlessly. There's plenty of tools that can be used to prioritize certain types of data traffic rather than others (e.g. a game client app data or voip data).

Only edits to fix glitch spots

Considering how many glitches can actually be used in this game, fixing just so-called "glitch spots" still is a minor editing.

I never played Bridge Crossing lately, and Spanky's right, you should ask for each map (honestly i doubt there will be a positive feedback about modifying those maps). It would really be great if there were more players like you.

It's wierd. I remember in 2008, or maybe 2009 people was still asking for updating and improving the game. I mean, a lot of people used to ask for changes back then. Maybe what's left of it is an hard core base that keeps playing only the same game in the same way, that can't accept changes. Sooner or later they will leave aswell as things move on and world evolves, the game might evolve by some degree but if things stay this way it won't.

It's also true that improving the game in its parts would require time. But community support and feedback is what is mainly needed, otherwise it's really about improving the game for us only. Which might happen to be enjoyable but only worthy to itself.

P.s. if you want an example of an old game still being widely supported and backed by the community look at Killing Floor (it also happens to be made on a quite similar version of the Unreal engine).
