dds,Here it will place the Textures
Maps
Obj, Here it will place the StaticMeshes
Rsk, Here it will place the SkeletalMeshes
Wav, Here it will place the Sounds

Just click Load and Export all Packages and let the program process all the packages..
This will take some time to complete.

<3 You've done such a good job! :peace: gotta love the obj. export part :D the materials are really open and truly easier to navigate thru and import in literally any 3D editor.

bump. any thoughts?

Of course. That Mac version was made when Apple was phasing out PowerPC processor, to use newer and more performing Intel ones. Briefly, it was made for an IBM architecture and you can't run it on your Intel cpu.

The bottom line is that you can now run Windows, so if you want to run America's Army on your Mac, get any Windows version between Xp and 7 and bootcamp it. But really, for that matter, you might also consider Linux, which is free. Videocard drivers are available but might need testing tho.

Does the game client work by itself? I mean, have you tried starting the game, and maybe even opening a map (e.g. typing  "start bridge" in the console) thru the game itself?

thanks

It would be so much more helpful if you were to throw in a few more details about what is not working, so we could look it out and find what's wrong. Also, i've already posted a link in LeBastion's thread, that shows a very well written tutorial (it was written by former game developers).

Just came back from work, as a matter of things i actually have a pretty small amount of spare time.

With AARE you can extract most objects, textures to *.dds, and Meshes to *.obj.
Perhaps you can add the objects from 28x that you are missing direct into you level(map)

I hope to complete the missing components later on this month, and to a proper release of a AARS(AA Recording Studio) including a new version of AARE and other tools I've utilized though the years

That is a solution for sure, but it really depends on the amount of materials he wants to include in his map (and keep in mind that it will make your file size grow quite fast). Also, those materials can be re-packed up in a package and included in a mAAp release, so they can be used in other maps aswell. (mAAp already features some 2.8.5 ported materials, there's a -285 tagged package for sound, meshes and textures).

Btw kudos for your work, you're talented :)

That would grant you a 64 level. You should also specify your Battletracker ID, i guess your account is the one shown here?

http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/822805/Marvin%5BCZ%5D/

About any higher level you've might have reached back in time:

Ideally if you played in any time between 2006 and 2011, you probably would have left a good amount of "footsteps" along the way. Back in early 2012 we still had some very consistent amount of Google cache data. There are still many web cache dedicated resources you can look after to rummage into. Of course the point is going after any possible username you've used, looking for pics, statistics, tracker records and so on (obviously, you're the more fitting one to know whether you used one or more accounts and which of them lasted longer, so to say).

Have you given your terrain a layer with some sort of texture to start with? The picture doesn't show layers info so i can't tell. Don't forget to hit the Build all button when you assign new layers because otherwise you'll just see a wireframe object.

This is a beautiful tutorial if you have any doubts about those kind of things (and it really explains a lot of things,  - especially technical matter - down the way).

Background Checks / Re: m0bileq+

flashes works worst then 2.85

Flashes work in a more realistic way, but if the fall even beyond even a small obstacle you're not going to get blinded (likely just getting your sight darkened)...of course the flash blast will get you partially deaf for a few seconds and that matters too.

Flash are very effective, just cook it for that half/quarter of a second before throwing and will explode in the air, likely being a lot more effective than if it was to bounce around. Obviously, as any other weapon they can't fall through volume blocks, and you have to be aware of that since a lot of objects feature a player volume block (which isn't visible) that has  a different shape in comparison to the object its build upon (e.g. a chair or a desk), because volume blocks are made to smooth collisions out.
This way you'll be prepared for you next "flash wtf" when you throw your grenade around and it bounces against invisible corners ^^.

i know i alreaddy converted to a .txt file but without the 2.5 editor i can not copy back to a editor to finish the map

Not sure if you read and/or took a look at my post above.  Are you Patterson from 75thr? Is the map actually yours? Cause to me the pic you posted look very close to that specific map.

it is not Camp Gentry it is a map i made from beginning by just adding thing to it

Btw, just for you to know, you can't load a 2.8 map in the 2.5 editor, it will crash. You can eventually use Eliz's tool or modify your mission code by hand as it's already explained in a couple threads on this forum (one of those is pinned too, i think).

Now i see...i recall of this map. It's called Camp Gentry i think isn't it? It would be worthy, as it is a whole pack of training fields and exercises areas. Some things probably wouldn't be available or yet available but with limited features (e.g. humvees). Considering the limits of the 2.5 packages you'll probably also fall short of several static meshes and some textures too.

P.s. of course i'm looking at it as a squad training map, it's way huge to be a multiplayer one (except if you drive through on a hummer, and you would still take quite some time).

Btw, would you actually be willing to make it completely once again? Except for the terrain (using Eliz tool) quite a lot of the remaining looks way too modern to be part of the 2.5 packages. And honestly you can't ask the players to download a whole lot of additional data that's used in one map only, also because if i were to ask for downloading further data, it would be in a wider fashion and not limited to training scenarios materials, which are useful but up to a certain point - unless people find Camp Gentry entertaining as a multiplayer map (and despite its size, it might actually be).

The editor is still private, who originally gave me the editor asked for keeping it private (which means given to thrusted people only). Just prove your skill and especially care about quality.

2.5 Editor is 'private', maybe Koden can help you to convert the map :)

somethings in 2.8 aren't avaliabe in 2.5 resources and the file names are different, that's where you have to look while converting your map, I mean, remove resources that only exist in 2.8, find in what 2.5 packages some resources are in and then find how to map with 2.8 ED to 2.5, ex:use UTPT to look into the 2.5 pakages, when u found what your're looking for, copy the 2.8 file, name it as the 2.5 file and then use that one in the 2.8 editor,  I made a simple/noob map with 2.8 editor and then converted it to 2.5 with Eliz converter, worked fine :)

sry for any language error or if the text is confuse,  it's 5 AM here :)

http://aao25.com/maap/2-8-map-converting/45/
http://aao25.com/maap/2-5-map-made-with-2-8-editor/

I think i've already wrote this somewhere in this forum...anyway, packages starting with a single-letter with no digit in front of should be fine for converting your map with Eliz tool without much hassle. Avoid using AI (bots), 2.8.5 one can't be ported in 2.5 and anyway even the 2.5 counterpart is rather useless.

Btw, if you look at your sound, static mesh and texture folder you'll notice you have a s-285, a m-285 and a t-285...a few bits of the 2.8.5 materials ported, if you need them (and before you ask, you can't port all of them, it's a mess).

It is true that it is rather disturbing conversion 2.8.5> 2.5. Software and must be converted.
Editor for 2.5, I think the version is private to avoid mass distrubution. So mappers Reserved elite or those showing devotion?

Also, remember that it is the community that makes to live 2.5, then it will anytime soon blockages for the creation, the community will be less map.
You see? Of course, this is my opinion, and I hope not to attract the wrath of the moderators

I always do or bring a little something for the games I liked (level design, texturing, modeling) ex: NWN 1 and 2, dod, dod source

I do not know if it is possible that a benevolent soul can deliver packages of conversion, or the dev team leaves the editor out of his safe

Have you taken a look at the server list? Barely a handful of custom maps get actually played every day (and by a tiny amount of players). Custom maps are worthy, but let's not exhaggerate how much they're worth to the game itself (or rather to the players). I would love to see em played but they aren't, really.

You used to create maps/levels for NWN1? That's cool, i pretty much started there aswell.

Thank you guys
I added it to my favorites
Tell me, version 2.8.5 is better than 2.8.3?
Can I patch my version 2.8.3? or I download the full version 2.8.5?

There were a few complete 2.8.5 install archives around. Now the only nearest to being trustworthy enough (which i'm aware of) is Chevy's one. You don't need to download the updated tour.ini anyway, it's fitted with custom coop maps updates (chevy's place is a place where you can mostly find - and play - those ones).

http://chevys-place.nl/AA2.php

Btw, of course you can patch your 2.8.3 (1 patch at a time, 2.8.3-> 2.8.3.1-> 2.8.4 -> 2.8.5 - i know it sounds awkward)
