The piece of shit just said he won't ever visit the UK, one of our biggest allies, unless protests are banned. I feel like that right there says it all. He's a not just a terrible president, but a terrible human being as well. He doesn't care about freedom, just his own personal wealth.

Speaking of stats, does Battletracker own the data or is Battletracker just a 3rd party site to display it all? If so, then stats wont be gone forever even if Battletracker comes to its end, it would be just a matter of time to build another site which would do the same interaction
BT owns all stats and player info. It's in their database. There's no other way it could work. The Army shut down their servers long ago, who else would be holding the data?
A while ago Eliz made assist database tables that mimic'd what it was getting from BT. This is why we have a list of all players and even some stats. I was told by eliz we could simply point auth to the assist database rather than BTs.

Also, Homey told me he would give me a DB dump and possibly some code behind it when he finally decides to shut it down. We'll see if that holds true.

yes I am afraid that my stats are gone - I worked hard for it
Sorry for being so impatient - I will wait and see then
I wpn't pester you guys anymore - my apologies
I will be away next week for a month or 2 anyway - maybe I get a surprise upon my return.
I understand that account registration is the most urgent issue at the moment -
I just love the stats per map - so nice to see where you stand

Anyway thanx to all dedicating their free time to this game and keeping this game alive

Cheers

I cannot promise that stats, and especially per map stats are ever going to return. I know some work was done on it a while ago, but how much and if it's kept up to date I really don't know.

This is a lot more than webapp work. That's the easy part. The entire auth system is pretty intricate and the only person that knows/knew how it worked is not around anymore.
I did receive an email back from Eliz yesterday and he says that he doesn't really remember how most of it was setup (it wasn't all setup by him) but did answer some questions for me and I'm trying to piece a lot of this stuff together.

This is going to take some time. Hopefully when there's a better understanding of how everything works, I can give a more certain answer, but for right now, our only goal is to get account management working.

Did you discuss the possibility of selling battletracker?
I did suggest buying BT in my original email but he doesn't seem to want to do that, and I don't really blame him. It's his site with a ton of personal user data and handing it over to a stranger would definitely make me hesitant as well. If he responds to my question about registration in the mean time I'll bring it up again and see what happens.

I actually got a response from Homey saying that he'll keep the AA pages up for a couple more months to give us time to create a replacement. He said that after so long he just wants to move on from Battletracker and I can't really blame him for it. He's done so much for this game I think he deserves a thanks from everyone.

Battletracker works only for AA2 not for AA3 or Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 2142 etc !!!!!!

This means Homey definitely reopened the site especially for the AA2 crowd and that is us !!!!
Please try and push Eliz to share what he's got - maybe someone else can finish it.
Also if you still have the data of the inactive players it would be a good idea to include them ! (you know if you don't play for a few months your name gets taken off the list - but if you
play again your data is still there)

This would push the toplist to an substantial amount of players (remember there were about 7.000 Players before the training was obligatory)

This would attract even more players cause the more people are in the toplist the more active and alive Assist looks - even if there are maybe only 1.000 active players.

You know what I mean - People look at their stats and the toplists more than you all think - this is vital to keep the game alive !!! Just my modest opinion  :)

Please considerate and again we should act quick now

Again, stats and leaderboards/toplists are very low priority right now. The main goal is to get account registration and account editing working. I don't have much free time, just the registration and account management are pretty big tasks.

As for Eliz, I sent him an email 2 days ago and have heard nothing from him.

Something that count honor would be good as well (although not essential).
As Merlin said, ELiZ made most of this a few years back already.
Now it's a matter of enabling new user registration and secure logins (as well as existing accounts, hopefully). But since ELiZ hasn't been on here for over a year and seems to be hard to reach some of the process can take longer than it would ideally.
I could be wrong as I've been away for awhile, but I'm pretty sure honor is already primarily kept track of by the assist database and thus should see no change after BT shuts down.

Also, the goal is to not only allow new accounts, but account editing as well. Editing accounts is a pretty simple addition once account registry is up and running again. I just need some free time to work on it. Hopefully tomorrow through the weekend.
I have absolutely no insight as to how Eliz set this all up, but we're going to try our best to sort it out and get everything working decently well. I'd feel bad letting this community down after so long.

Anti-Cheat / Re: rapid single fire SVD Glitch?
« on: Monday, January 15, 2018, 16:04:11 PM »
When enemy drops SVD you pickup VSS which has Auto mode. Although I will admit to have seen people picking one and it still being displayed as SVD. Just a graphical glitch. Its easy to make the mistake, dont worry.
I'm pretty sure the SVD gives the enemy an M-82, not a VSS. The SPR gives the enemy a VSS.

Anyway, just to be able to track players and servers and in the end we all know that there will be some solution as it has always been.
Tracking is the last thing we're worried about. First priority is getting account registration working again. I'll take a look at making a webpage for it this week. I'll need to talk to Nick and Spanky because ideally it should be a part of the AAO25 website rather than some externally hosted site.
Assist does have some tracking stuff already done but as far as I am aware it was not completed and I have no idea what state it's currently in.

I'm wondering if he would ever consider selling the website as is and for how much. It might be worth looking into. I'm really curious about how much upkeep is and I would definitely consider paying for it if it means keeping new registrations in this game alive.

I will also try to get a hold of Eliz to see if I could get some help on making a separate account manager to replace BT but I realize he hasn't be active here for over a year. I just need to know how Assist interacts with BT to try to replicate it with minimal change to the Assist code.

I sent an email to homey asking for the upkeep cost or a database dump for AA players although I have very little faith in him actually responding.

Alright will do. Thank's for the input tho.

On a sidenote, I've had a bunch of people tell me to go with 32gb of ram instead of the 16gb I've already bought. I really don't see the need for 32gb since all I do is game.
Na, 32GB of ram is way overkill for gaming.

As for the CD drive, you never know when you might need one. I have a lot of older games on disc I like to play. Plus it's an external drive so you don't have to have it hooked up all the time.

4k = 60hz. So nah. I don't want one. Although: http://www.pcgamer.com/asus-and-acer-delay-feature-rich-4k-144hz-monitors-with-hdr-until-2018/

Maybe I'll get one in a couple years when the price comes down.

And as far as an external DAC goes, what would you recommend I go with.
I don't really have any recommendations. I got mine a long time ago and it was a relatively cheap one ($70). I'd just do some research, maybe ask on a sound forum or something.

My mobo won't fit in that case. It's an E-ATX mobo (12.0" x 10.7"). So I'm kinda limited on cases. I mainly bought it due to the DIMM.2 feature it has. It's got other great features, but that's the one I like the most.
Ah I didn't notice that. Gotta get a full tower. That case you posted does look good though.

And as far as DAC and sound cards go, I'm not too knowledgeable in the area. Care to elaborate and maybe recommend what I should go with over a sound card. I do plan on getting studio grade headphones and a standalone mic down the road.
The 2 main reasons for suggesting a DAC is because sound cards are typically "gamer" type of products. They're all flash and very little substance (like gaming headsets). An external DAC is typically geared towards audiophiles more and focuses more on the sound. Also, A PC has a lot of electrical noise that may interfere with the analog signal after the card converts it from digital. This might not always be noticeable since these cards tend to have some sort of shielding but nothing perfect. Also, if you plan to use the front audio ports you're running an unshielded wire across your entire case.
Since an external DAC is getting the digital signal and converting it outside of the case it's much less of an issue.

And as far as the 1080 goes, I bought it like 5 days before the ti was announced. I was SUPERRRRRRR fucking pissed. But now I'm stuck with it.
Ah, that makes sense. The 1080 is a beast of a card though and if you don't have a 4k monitor there's very little use in getting another one to SLI. I'd wait until you can't max everything you want to and then there will be better single cards on the market.

You woulda been better off getting a single 1080Ti than SLIing 1080s. The performance gain of having two 1080s isn't that great and then you have the added headache of worrying about SLI support in games.

You also might be interested in this if you like the tempered glass cases: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139087&cm_re=corsair_crystal_570x-_-11-139-087-_-Product

Also, I will always recommend an external DAC over a sound card.

A bit unrelated, but are they really selling fullsize motherboards with only 2 ram slots now? Odd.

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Ever since new update I keep getting kicked

Ahhh you back killa

Welcome back,,btw i, moved the fuck out of Florida , back to good old Chicagoland
I never went anywhere, I've always been playing the game, I just don't post much.

As for the topic, it just seems odd that I've never seen this problem before and all of a sudden after the update I'm getting it almost every time I try to play.

Also, if you're going to do an update, especially after such a long period of no updates, you really should have an announcement about what the update was for.
