mAAp Project / Re: Question

It would be possible to have vehicles you can drive. Maybe not an humvee. Oh, without any sound tho (no engine sound at all) and the driving feeling it's not really refined (no gear change, steering it's not terribly intuitive, kind of...inertial).

A coop mode is available too, but artificial intelligence is really raw and not really functional for most needs (it won't run around, it won't shoot in a "believable" way, honestly it's rather useless). It also makes for a lot of error reports due to uncompleted functions, which will fill your server log up for hundreds of megabytes really fast. Which is way it's not practical (your server wouldn't last up online for long before crashing).

Are you running AA3 and AA2 on the same server?

General Chat / Re: Server Failed to connect to Authorization

Is that your home server? I've tried pinging it, ping requests gets timed out. Check if your connection is working properly. If it's your homeserver, the culprit might also be modem related, as much as for the connection quality.

I've also tried connecting to your server with the game client and it's not succeeding. Well, it seems like it's trying to but failing, in the end.

What if one would like to talk about going to AA meetings on there? They'd get banned?

Lol, i think you might get Spanky quite upset, he's a cool guy but i can't tell whether he can still stand an America's Army talk or not. Just pm/email him if you really want to. He also has a Twitter here, if you prefer that way.

Of course, in real life you'd be shooting mostly at prone position (believe me, I've shot a rifle a couple of times), but this is still a game. What I was trying to complain about was the server admins, that back in the day would kick you for just moving while shooting.

And an M-16 rifle for example is about 2.25kg or 7.2lbs, but what I used in my military service was an AK4 (a variant of the G3 rifle), which weighs 4.4kg or 9.7lbs.(both unloaded)
That's true.
An other unrelated thing that I dislike is the fact that the idle soldiers just sit there holding their M249 SAW up ready to fire for 10 minutes. I'd like to see someone do that with a weapon that, when loaded, weighs 10kg or 22lbs ...

Haha. That's true :D it's rather funny that a soldier with a m249 runs at the same speed in comparison to a mate equipped with a M9 pistol :D and you can even have one on your back while equipping another. Fun times on Snakeplain firing BDMs and Javelins to clear out the pathway to the POW! (who had to run his way through the desert 90% of the time) :)

I know about "gaming revised", I was here when all the drama happened. But I didn't think that joining there means leaving here...

And of course it's not meant to. It's just up to them, Spanky left AAO25 administration to PIt to create a new community, in my opinion he could've done a few different things in order to maximize the effort but it's his project and it's still rather in progress, so it's just early to judge. Truth is that America's Army was a bag of dissatisfaction for him (look at the rules over at Gaming revised -> "No AA talk. At all.")

Where did killa and blue went really? Didn't see no official good bye there...

As far as i know Spanky started a new community, inviting people who was here even before AAO25 was born (back then when it still was the Headshot community, HSC. It's worth pointing that a few days ago Jonnym actually registered back ^^ he's the person that created the Assist and the one that deserves the best praise for his work and dedication at it.

While we're at it, you should only be able to shoot while standing still, no crouching, crawling or even leaning.

While standing still...? i'm not aware of how heavy a common assault rifle can be, but i'd rather shoot while crouching at least. You'll also be a smaller target.

mAAp Project / Re: Promoting mAAp maps and some other official maps
« on: Monday, October 01, 2012, 13:12:31 PM »
2nd: if server owners/admins enable map rotation players will ALWAYS face a new map, in 'every' server, but that's Hard lol, if pit could DENY most of the servers from the Auth :P
I've been playing COD (2, 4 and MW3) and on Cod only a few servers keep running the same Map, most of the servers use map rotation.

There's a reason for that, in this game most of the people prefer to play on the map they know the most to "win" and gather more kills easily, while Call of Duty can succeed on being a Free for all on really every single map. It makes it harder for lesser experienced players (which includes non-hardcore ones too). It surely doesn't make for more fun, at least 2 of every 3 servers should feature maps rotation.

Events are ok, my best hope would be for clans to host a few public servers on those lesser known maps, for training purposes before an event.

@ Fanatic, actually modded servers shouldn't be tracked, in the end they destroy both the mission objective and the weapon balance too. Just look at SF_Hospital, 5 m203s instead of 3 already make quite a difference.

^^me with 59 honor

would just log in with that account but have lost the email associated with the tracker account so i cant get the pw reset.

There's no way that someone here can reset your Battletracker password as BT and AAO25 are in no way the same. Switching an honor level from an account to another isn't possible aswell (unless you can prove that it's yours, but i find it rather difficult if i'm honest).

EDIT: that name matches with your account at least.

EDIT #2: you could've left what you posted earlier -_-'''

mAAp Project / Promoting mAAp maps and some other official maps
« on: Sunday, September 30, 2012, 16:48:40 PM »
It's pretty much obvious that at this time most of the mAAp maps and many of the official maps aren't played nearly anymore. While it doesn't take off the gameplay itself, it surely takes off of variety. And lack of variety is what ultimately drives to boredom. It's much healthier to have a certain amount of players that play different maps than a handful of those that will only jump on a single map which they're terribly fond of, because the former will most likely keep on playing even if their favorite map is not available (and in the end that is the key to have a good average amount of players during the day).

So, considering that there are some worthy maps (mAAp Pipeline, Breakout, Rummage, Sandstorm, JRTC Farm Raid, etc) that aren't played at all, i think there might be some things that could be done to improve the variety, by promoting those against the majority of the few that gets over-regularly played every single day.

Among the first things that might be effective, hitting hardcore as much as newer players, might be points assignment: we can decide the amount of points assigned for each map and especially for each objective, so we could easily increase the amount of points given once completing a round successfully (not just by standing idle) in those maps. Of course the difference shouldn't higher than about 30% to 40% in comparison to others maps, to give a premium but not to create a huge inequality.

Some other ideas might be assigning badges or achievements in a Steam way, which already was a feature of the former America's army profile when the website was still online (the Jacket).

Any other ideas you'd throw in?

i surely didn't forget about Good old Pit and God knows he's done a good job,
but that's different.. he's the BOSS  :D :D

Woo again... 134 reads and 4 support answers... amazing

They're doing a great job, yet maybe you're expecting a little high response in comparison to everydays forum amount of visits.

General Chat / Re: Force weapons/Admin commands
« on: Thursday, September 27, 2012, 13:29:45 PM »
I launched new own server for friends but i have few questions about the admin commands and force weapons.

When i give weapon for players, server give it in next round, so i cant reload players weapon if they r out of ammo. Is there other command for refill ammo?

When i force weapon "gp", server gives me "sf". I cant force terrorist weapons? If i can, where i found full list of weapons list (console names of weapons)

My english sucks, but i think u understand what i mean :)
And thank god we got old AA back! Hooah!

I'm not an expert  server admin, but a global forceclass should work, however i recall i used to assign weapons on my test server and it worked.

Code: [Select]
Admin Forceclass * <class> - Forces the class of everyone in the server.</class>
           Example:
                 Admin ForceClass * R
                 Admin ForceClass * AR
