If you're fast enough, just run to him and he'll flash himself too, and shoot him

Many of those 1vs1 conditions happens mostly to solos, just get a mate along and you'll cover each other (as you should always do).

Can you bootcamp windows 7 with just a serial key?

If you're going to install an operative system just for America's Army then i'd rather choose a linux distro, it will be lighter and still perfectly legit without spending one dollar (or euro/pound/etc). Also because someone here is against pirated OS/ for legit reasons still.

I think some people are missing the point how reducing the effect of flashes would benefit the game play which would benefit in getting more players to play AA25.
To get this game back on track you would need a good competitive scene in my opinion. On some maps the length of the flashes benefits one team most, such as collapsed tunnel where assault has a big advantages because of the duration of the flashes.

Not only the competitive but also the public scene would benefit from the reduction of the duration. Just think about people who play different games such as CoD. When  they play AA the would get annoyed by the flashes which will make them not enjoying the game and won't play AA anymore.

To sum things up, look at the big picture and you will realize that the duration of the flashes is ridiculous. In 2.8.5 it was much better which improved the game play.

America's Army != Call of Duty

I actually play(ed) many other games than America's Army and the last thing i am concerned about are flashes. The things i am mostly concerned for are attitude and teamwork, period. So if i get to play with or against people who just throw flashes around without providing teamwork, i don't get concerned by flashes, but by how people play...

Sometimes I feel like the people in this community are only saying:

Except instead of saying "developers" they're saying "competitive".

yeap :) precisely

General Chat / Re: when comes the update for windows 8??

Go ask PB to update their version for AA, you won't get a response. It's not worth it to update the client if Windows 8 users won't be able to play anyways because of PB.

There needs to be an announcement or sticky or something explaining why W8 won't be supported so we don't get so many threads on it.

Wish most people were clever enough to use forum search, but they don't...

sticked.

Anyone else find it funny that these questions are coming quite frequently? I mean, people are going out and buying Windows 8 and then wanting to play a 8+ year old free game on it...

I would also wonder why people bother to buy Windows 8. Heck, why they even bother to buy Windows? I wouldn't, unless it comes in a laptop or in an assembled system (which i wouldn't buy either, they're a bunch of cheap junk in a barely acceptable envelope, sold at premium dosh).

Happened to me aswell. I don't know if there's any relation between that and playing the game in a window, but i've happened to get that kind of punkbuster issue quite often (while playing on XP as much as on Win7 i think).

Why is hospital server so popular?

Do you think it is just that it is a fantastic map or maybe because points are easier to come by on that map?

Points is not the reason modded servers are more popular or to be blunt why our pipe server is so popular, it is because people get a choice of weapons, they like the fact they can play with a different weapon each round and the weapon options are only those that are in the game right now.

I don't see why we or anyone else should be penalized for giving people what they want and everything we provide on the server is above board and legal.

Other games are balanced through weapons being different in features, AA is balanced on teams because you play it in a more tactical way (because you only have 1 "life" for each match). However if the question is about randomizing the weapon preserving the amount of single weapons that the mission is featured with, maybe i think even Jonny would agree with that. You can't just take the control out of the match except for a very random casual fun match, if you want some mess with plenty of rpg's or m203's flying around (which might fit on a Call of duty scenario but on this game it's just a plain mess).

New maps are not needed, there are so many maps not played now so why would we add maps??

You know, it's about people willing to contribute to something they're really after, and i can't see any shortcoming for offering some worthy content to the game. Plus, it adds variety. Many today's games are so limited because of the lack of content, and inability for the players to experiment and design their own. Dozens of games have born as a mod, off of the original game (Red Orchestra, Killing Floor, Team Fortress, Counter Strike, etc).
