The Lounge / Re: Worst case scenario
« on: Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 00:55:12 AM »
It's a good question.

I've seen a big part of AA2 die before (even before the official auth was shut down in late 2011). People will move on. The somewhat sad part is that in new games, different people want different things. There are always attempts on keeping teams (clans) together in another game and it might even work for part of the team, but not everybody.

As for what would be a natural transition from AA, I really don't know. I've heard both good and bad things about AAPG. I've also heard good things about Insurgency. I've not played either too much myself and so I would know which to choose. Plus, there could be yet another and even better option as well.

But on a more positive note, as long as we've got people here, the game will live on, at least at the current time.

what do you try to install there - not a part of aa2

Doesn't mean it's not necessary to play AA.

The time I got AA to work on Ubuntu I just followed the error messages and installed the necessary packages. A lot of them needed the 32bit versions (most likely you run 64bit OS so those will be default).
Other than I'm afraid I can't help much more.

General Chat / Re: High Ping
« on: Sunday, April 24, 2016, 16:16:52 PM »
It is true that players own ping don't influence on server. But ping has effect how other people see you and can hit you. When some player has a high ping it is sometimes very hard to hit him precisely. I have see that some server owners kick high ping players because that reason in numerous FPS games that I have played.

I have especially felt this while playing Counter Strike back in the days. Trying to tap accurate headshots to high ping players was sometimes impossible because they were warpping. Sometimes even clear chest shot from few meters away didn't hit because that player had big ping. So I can see why some server owners kicked high ping player because it effects to the games enjoyment. But in game like assist25 which in many players come from many different countrys to play in one same server and have big pings should not be kicked.
Comparing different games can be a tricky thing. It really depends on whether the "hit" is determined on the server side or client side. While most games will probably do the latter, I've seen games that deal with the former. That would mean if you have a high ping you  could just go to a room full of enemies, shoot at all of them and kill them and only then will your client realize they shot you as well. And everybody dies. Was a very odd game...

As for AA, It's like Koden pointed out, you will be a bit harder to hit at times and you will most definitely have a harder time hitting others, but it will have no effect on 2 players with low ping fighting each other.

Even if it this is true, there is unfortunately no way for us to verify it.
A drunk idiot wrote this.

What I ment to say:
It's great we still have people who joined the game from the very beginning!
However, since the original auth system is down, there is no record of the original players or when they joined the game. All we can see is when someone registered with battletracker/aaotracker (if the account is there) and we all know that was created almost a year later and it was never compulsory. We can also search history.anticheatinc.com, however I'm pretty sure their database has a gap as well (I remember it being 3 years, but it's definitely not anymore).

Does anyone remember the really old tracker from the KoTH clan? Traacker I think they called it.

Wish I didn't delete my original aaotracker account all those years ago. Being 10 honor again sucks after 15 years..

Also would like the AA veteran symbol, might be one of the only people here who played this game on the original release date in july of 2002..
Even if it this is true, there is unfortunately no way for us to verify it.

Nice topic! :)
Even though dwelling on the past can sometimes have a negative effect, remembering what was great and what could have been even better most probably won't.

I started AA around 12 years ago. Don't remember much from back then, was in a clan here and a clan there, had some fun in different leagues.
I think around 7-9 years ago was my peak time in AA. There was loads of different maps being played. Hell, I remember Courtyard (I was whoring it back in the day) had 3-4 different servers filled at all hours of the day (didn't check literally, but felt that way). Probably so did most other maps that were decent. It was so easy to play any map you wanted. There was always a server for it (unless it was FLS Assault or SF Recon, I think).
I think it was around the same time that I also played a little bit of modded AA. I remember fondly my days of SF Urban (on 2.6) ... killing 6 people with 1 203  - those were the days :D . It was a lot simpler back then somehow. I guess nowadays most everybody has played this game for 10 odd years and has picked up a thing or two.
I even remember playing some AA  2.5 (my clan at the time, -v3. - consisting of MR an iX -  was originally from 2.5 , but they had migrated to 2.8)

I had a break from AA somewhere around 2009 - 2012.
It was only after that I when I joined this community here. I've seen some rises and falls of different people. I've seen very talented and highly motivated people come and go (mostly the latter, at least in the end). It's sad to see, but unfortunately that's life - always moving forward. I'm just glad there's still people sticking around.

All in all, I'm not even sure what I miss most of all. I just don't feel like playing the game interests me anymore. I'm not sure if my (somewhat mild) ~3500 hours on it has given me all it could or I just grew out of it. I'm not sure what exactly would bring back the spark. But I know there was a spark and there will always be a memory of that and as long as it's there, I'll do what I can for this project.

will u goit it!
I'm not sure what you're failing to understand.

We have a 1 account per PC rule.
That means if there's already an account on the PC that is used to activate a new account, the new account will be rejected.
The computer and IP that you used to activate your account a month ago already has 2 accounts.
Neither of those two accounts are the one you point to as your bother. It has nothing to do with that account.

And I'm not speculating here. As ronski mentioned, we can actually see what your computer HWID and IP are. That's how I know what I've stated.

If you want an activated account, you need to activate it from a computer that doesn't have an account on it yet.

Are you seriuos?
Look this accounts are not mine: http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/765343/   http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/866510/
I dont know who is it. Its not me and there are not my account.

I write there because i have problem, i cant log into the game.
My acount is: http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/866529/Soundchaser/
my brother's account is: http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/809065/-wAa%27+eppfff/

Got it?

OK, let me break it down for you then.
On 13th of March you created this account:
http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/866529/Soundchaser/
on the same computer and IP that has these 2 accounts:
http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/765343/
http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/866510/
Both of those were used on many different days before and after your activation request and have been used exclusively on the same computer.

The account you linked to as your brother has a completely different IP as well as HW.
