Support / Question about chat logging
« on: Friday, February 20, 2026, 21:42:23 PM »
Dear Support Team,
I am currently running an AAO 2.5 server on Linux (Radny Linux Server) and I would like to ask for guidance regarding chat logging.
Specifically, I would like to enable logging of chat messages such as Say and TeamSay to a file on the server. Could you please advise if there is a built-in configuration option to enable this, or what would be the recommended approach to achieve it on a Linux server?
Additionally, I am interested in implementing a custom modification (most likely using ServerActors) for the following purposes:
Logging chat messages to a file
Filtering inappropriate language (for example, replacing offensive words with **** in chat)
I am able to develop this ServerActor myself and configure it properly, so it will not negatively impact server performance or gameplay. My goal is to contribute to the community in this way, and I intend to make the plugin publicly available so the entire community can benefit from it.
I would appreciate any documentation, examples, or guidance on how to correctly register and load custom ServerActors on a Linux server.
Thank you very much for your time and support. I appreciate the work you do for the community.
Kind regards,
radny
