While I was taking that last sunset picture, an owl came by within 60 feet or so and started hooting:

Unfortunately he didn't stay there long enough for me to fidget with the settings AND get a nice picture without him moving. He flew off and landed in a tree, I had to use a good 4-5 second exposure to get him:

Just took a quick shot through the window with some bad settings but came up with some amazing color:

Wikipedia:
The size of the stop is one factor that affects depth of field. Smaller stops (larger f numbers) produce a longer depth of field, allowing objects at a wide range of distances to all be in focus at the same time.

So, small f stop numbers for more blurry objects for great sense of depth?

I think it's larger f-stops for greater sense of depth. Depending on what your shooting, things closer or further away will be out of focus so you'll know at what depth objects in the shot fall in.

I think. Also nice multi-colored turkey (jk) you caught there.

Open=more light
better DOF=LOWER NUMBER
Closed=less light
sharper image= HIGHER NUMBER.

Thanks. The sun was setting and I was changing settings like mad so I could cherry pick the better exposures when I got back inside. That was shot with Aperture priority at f/2.8 and saturation boost on the camera. I like the details of the fuzzy leaves.

Update:
I got sooooo pissed off with AF and macro while trying to take these. I dozens and dozens of pics and scrapped 90% of them just because they weren't even close to being focused. In the end I just put AF on with continuous shooting and moved the camera forward and back to get a wide variety of focusing. Anyway, here's the one I like the most:

Thanks :) It was pretty random and I was in a bad mood but perseverance pays off! The more I look at it, the happier I am with it :)

Closed = Bigger and better DoP (Depth of Field) < Light
Open = Less DoP > Light

The Aperture scale is a constituted by the multiples of two scales.

A. 2.4/2.6/2.8
B. 3.5/3.7
A. 4
B. 6.4/7.2
A. 8
B. 12
A. 16
AB. 22
B. 24

P.S:. There are slight changes from camera to camera, as there are from type-1 lens to type-2 lens (where type-1 and type-2 indicate or apply to any different type of lenses, regardless of what their type is.), which is why some of the stops of the scale can vary (i.e:. 2.4/2.6). Some cameras/lenses will have 2.4, some other will have 2.6, and so on. Scale A is multiples of 2, whereas scale B is multiples of 3. There non-rounded numbers, such as 2.4 or 6.4 exists because of the imperfection between the several apertures --not because the apertures were/are done imperfectly, but because in such a small measurement, it is hard to concise so much light-information that stays true and relevant to reality, through such a small aperture. It's a bit more complex than this, and I haven't got much time to explain the rest.

P.S.S:. Just realised this has already been answered to. Oh well.
