I find that fish-eye isn't being used properly and thats why many dont like it. It's only supposed to be used for ground shots to make jumps look big. I also find that fish-eyes are getting stronger at time goes by. There's too many people using extreme fish-eyes that make a rectangular photo a sphere. It should only be slightly there so it looks badass.

knight one thing i think you should take a look at, is the rule of thirds. Almost all of the photos you have posted the main focal point is in the center of the picture which is boring imo.

http://bit.ly/l0mml7 <-- take a look

for an example i took a picture of a basket ball hoop.

Jared I know the rule of thirds. Ive read more on it than I care to remember. I hate negative space. If its not contributing to the photo its taking away from it. And I avoid that. I'm still playing with composure and figuring out the way I like my photos. I think to many people are constrained by "Rules" of photography. Every exposure I do is an experiment in some way.

The rules of composition are not their to constrain they are there to guide. If you know the rules and how use them correctly then you know how to break them properly.

Negative space, is a hard thing to learn I myself am still struggling to use this. IMO your post,
Quote
If its not contributing to the photo its taking away from it
,  is completely false.  “Less is more” is probably the most well-known catch phrase of the minimalist movement, but the truth is you know its good, when it looks easy.

I'm not here to bust your balls, I'm trying to help you get better, but it seems every time someone posts something negative about your work you fight it ( this could just be me ). I have been design for a while now, and over this time i have learned not to fall in love with your work, if you do this will be your demise. I did some art work for a client I spent prbly about 2-3 weeks on it and i was fucking pumped. I showed it to them and they hated it. I had to redo this cool ass poster and make a shitty one that their small minds could comprehend. In the end they are the ones writing the paycheck so I gave them what they wanted. People will always judge your work wither you like it or not, i found its better to listen and comprehend, maybe if try a suggestion.

The great designers and photographers didn't get there alone, they had help and had great collaboration. At the age of 21 I have worked with fortune 500 companies, ESPN, X-Games and all the way down to local mom and pop shops and none of this would be possible if i didn't learn from other people.

Just some advice take it or leave it.

Center is boring but when the subject fills up the whole frame, sometimes center works. Just my 2 cents.

As for the pictures, I like the first one, I can't fault it. The second would be better from another angle. The third, as with 40-60% of your pics almost seems like it has too much contrast. I don't know if that's good or bad, it just seems to pop out at me.

The RX photo is pretty cool. It takes you back to the 50s, slightly.

Jared I understand what you are saying but my photography is just that, mine. If some one was paying me I would listen to them and take what they want into account. But no one is paying me, I do this for me. If I don't like a photo it doesn't see the light of day. I take what every one says into account and I try others suggestions to see if they fit with what I like to do. If it works it stays if not then I move on. I have my own taste and what I show other people is the selection of photos that I like. I don't take pics for any other reason that I enjoy it so much.

@Nate, that third one was me just messing around in photoshop and I found some thing that looked neat.

@Blue, thanks. I was trying for a 40s/50s look with it.

Simmer down Jared. This isn't a place to bash people for pursuing their passion.
