So i will post a few of those that i have been using. There is nothing wrong with what i'm posting and the older players should already have them so why not give to the newest also?

Higher FPS:
Type "pb_sleep 500" into the console without the " " for a slight fps boost.
It makes pb only work every 500 miliseconds instead of pb default of every 20 miliseconds.
Most users see 5-15fps boost from using command on most maps. When you type pb_sleep 500, type p_writecfg so you don't have to type pb_sleep 500 everytime you join a server.

Ingame GUI Settings:
Audio
Audio Mode: H/W + 3D.
Low Sound Detail: Unchecked.
System Driver: Checked.
System Beep: Checked.

Input
Auto Slope: Unchecked.
Invert Mouse: Unchecked.
Mouse Smoothing: Checked.
Reduce Mouse Lag: Checked.

Game
Auto Switch From Grenade: Checked.
Toggle Lean: Unchecked.
Walk Zoom: Checked.
Dynamic Netspeed: Checked.
Preload All Player Skins: Checked (will increase load times into server but worth it).

Optional Armyops.ini Settings:
[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs=512

[ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem]
UseEAX=False
Use3DSound=True
UseDefaultDriver=True
Channels=128
SoundVolume=1.000000 ( Up to a 2.00000)

[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
UsePrecaching=True
UseTrilinear=True
DesiredRefreshRate=90 *set this to same as monitor refresh rate in hrz, if you dont know , dont touch.
UseVSync=True *set this to true only if you did the step above.

Should one still follow these guidelines, even with current version of Assist?

Could anyone also advise me on Sound Settings. I currently have it set to H/W 3D + EAX on a Macbook running in Mac OS. It seams to work fine, so should I change it or not, to another option?

Eax is not good in this version and instead i would use only H/W + 3D (5.1 or 7.1 sound cards)

If I recall, that came in later versions. At least that's my vague memory.

You can try and refer to our wiki if you like:

Yeah, me too was wondering if there are ways to avoid lag or other things. I noticed even alone testing in these first minutes I came back that there is some lag.
Anyway this can be contextual to the non activity of server. Or maybe some settings I changed?
My pc is capable to handle high settings and actually good pc do not work well with low settings.
I believe it's not a matter of high graphics here, right?
The internet is what it is around 15Mbps and 1 in upload.

I upgraded to a Win11 PC back in February (was still using Win7 until then!) and I had a little bit of lag when I first set up the game. Every server was the same, even the EU ones. I went through the settings in my PC and turned off every App that was running in the background, set as many apps as I could from ‘run on startup’ to ‘never’. I even cleared all the trash it had going via the Task Manager, and that fixed my lag. I guess less is more with this game.

That’s about exactly the same Internet speed as mine. Even on a US server, I get around 20-22 ping and 120-150fps (depending on map), and I have all the in-game graphics settings set to the highest level (join a server, press ESC and go to settings in the bottom left corner).

It's important to distinguish between lag/latency and performance issues.

It's a lag/latency issue if your inputs take a while to reach the server. Usually this will mean that everything looks smooth on the screen, but you're unable to make jumps or hit targets because your packets arrive too late.

If it's a performance issue, you may see stuttering (i.e stuck on the same frame for too long) or something like that. It's nothing to do with the latency to the server, but rather the performance of the local machine.

With that said, your situation sounds like the latter. I'm sure you have a powerful machine. And in fact, for years now, PCs that are too powerful have been the issue. I don't know the exact details as to why. But they end up trying to push out more and more frames, and then at some point something breaks. And as a result you have a worse experience than you would on a lower specced PC.
My understanding is that (if this is the issue) you normally want to cap the max FPS to something reasonable. Maybe this will be of help:
https://aao25.com/forum/support/fps-locked-at-85fps/
I think I've also read / heard of people setting their max FPS through the graphics drivers. Perhaps that was in the discord  since I wasn't able to find it here. I don't know for sure since I don't have that issue - I run on a 7 year old laptop (whenever I do play).
