Why is it with all of the new games that the Characters  look like they are trying to take a shit.  And they run so fast with their knees bent in such weird ways.   The older games that  I have always liked to play the characters seemed more realistic in there movements and not so cartoonish.

And one big thing that to me that always set AA2 apart from other games  was 5 minute rounds with no re-spawn.   You had to actually be careful not to die or you got to watch till round over. (However  this might not work out as people do not like to wait.)  And a big part of what made AA2 so popular was the low requirements and the fact it was free. (Because the army used it as a recruiting tool.)

So it would be very hard to keep the main parts that made aa2 what it was but  I am sure you can get some similar aspects to it.   But what  makes so many of the new games out there so popular is the fact of the $ spent on advertising.  Where AA2  didn't require much advertising.  it was free to get free to play and  it was fun.

AA4 is as popular as it is for the same reason.

Hooah Soldiers!

Army Ops development restarted some month ago and and finally the game is taking shape. After a very long stage of prototyping we have now a running, "cheat secure" und very modular code. Which is not only removing all of the issues of the prototype, it's also running a lot faster and smoother.

New Gameplay on Bridge:

Army Ops, a classic remake of America's Army 2 will start a large test session today!

The game will bring back the hardcore experience on modern technology (Unreal Engine 4) as an independend game. The game is no official Army Game and so hase some slight changes and is in a very early development state. Expect crashes bugs and glitches all the way.

If you want a Key, follow Army Ops on

Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ArmyOpsGame/
and Join the Discord Server https://discord.gg/xHvDtM8 .

We will share Keys over the next days!

@everyone Roadmap for Q1 2019

The Army Ops first play test ended last week and I finished evaluating the server logs. Well ...
It run a lot better then expected. No critical crashes, lag was exceptable and the game was "playable" if we consider the lack of a lot of features, unbalanced gameplay and other stuff missing.
But Army Ops is playable. So how do we continue?

In Q1 2019 the aqctive development will be slow. Especially in January. I will perform an Engine update and if time is available do some minor tweaks. But don't expect to much from this month. And even after that I'm working more on the code base, which means progress will be made but it's not visual.
I try to update on this server as frequent as possible but don't be supprised if there are 1-2 weeks of silence. 90% of development is boring stuff.

The other reason why time in Q1 will be very limited is Beyond Enemy Lines 2. As some of you might already know I'm working on another Project and this for quite a while now. Army Ops is the follow up project to Beyond Enemy Lines 2 so the first game needs to be completed before the next one can take of in development.
What is Beyond Enemy Lines 2?
It's a Singleplayer Hardcore Tactical FPS, an "America's Army Singleplayer" if you want so. You play a special forces agent deployed deep beyond enemy lines and need to infiltrate and sabotage hostile bases and equipment. The gameplay is the following mix of:
Crysis 1 + Rainbow Six 1 + Ghost Recon 1 + Operation Flashpoint + America's Army = Beyond Enemy Lines 2

Missions are large scale (not open world but open level), you have 100% freedom to choose your plan an tactics, you can quickly modify your weapons with attachements on the fly (Crysis style) and there are no restrictions.
The AI is extremly complex and dynamic/unscripted. Enemies change dynamicly patrol routes, goard of different positions every playtrough and basicly don't fuck around. They can organize in squads, flank you and try to hunt you down and kill you with few hits.
You need very high skills to complete a singleplayer mission. Yes it's very hard, but in 99% it's the players fault abd bad tactics resulting in a failure. :P

If you are interessted..

Marketing is about to start in a few weeks, Release is 2019 and I also need some testers for this game in short time.
Beyond Enemy Lines 2 is directly influencing Army Ops development.

So what's up with this project? It's now Q3, and the situation seems to be still in Q1 "slow hiatus".

Hard to tell. The developer just launched their Beyond Enemy Lines 2 game on Steam last week so I'm guessing there's not been a lot of progress in the ArmyOps division.

I'll see if he wants to post an update here, though.

Army Ops news time!

Welcome to 2020 soldiers!
Time to talk about a release date, monetization, gameplay and future roadmap!

The new year just started and I'm back at work. And I want to start 2020 with all the power possible and want to start with a heavy focus on Army Ops! So let's dont waste time and get started:

Release:
Army Ops is going to start Early Access on Steam this year!

Monetization:
Army Ops will be a Fair-2-Play game, meaning the game is entirely free to play, no content is locked. There will be no ingame shop or micro transactions. If you want, you can play and unlock everything in Army Ops without paying a cent. However there needs to be a way to earn money to continue the ongoing development of new content. The progression speed of the base version is limited and you will earn XP to rank up very slowly. You will be able to unlock your account for a one time fee to rank up at normal speed. Army Ops will also feature a season system which, after buying a not expensive battle pass track additional stats for a set period displayed ingame to all players. Besides this we will accept donations which will unlock unique donator badges ingame.

I'm currently planning a crowdfunding campaign launching ~ April 2020. By backing Army Ops with the right rewards you can get instant access to all development versions and can play the game!

Gameplay:
Army Ops is a tactical multiplayer FPS with focus on realistic combat scenarios within small fireteam units. Army Ops is modeled to follow the U.S. Army's seven core values (LDRSHIP) and builds a unique ranking and unlock system around this. Prove your knowledge to become a medic or show your skill on the shooting range to become a deadly sniper.

Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Honor any many more core values will define your overall rank, which will unlock new weapons and training courses. You are required to complete hard to master training courses to unlock certain player classes. Only players with a certain rank and a completed training will be able to play a specific class - if you as a grunt see a sniper on a server, you know this person can play the game!

Speaking of classes, Army Ops will features 6 unique classes. All with their own strengths and weaknesses, special equipment and weapons.

Rifleman
Equipped with Assault Rifles, default class

Medic
Equipped with SMGs, able to heal players and stop bleeding. Requires unlock.

Sniper
Equipped with Sniper Rifles.Requires unlock.

Pioneer
Equipped with Shotguns or Grenadelauncher, able to plant/defuse bombs faster, can unlock doors without making noise. Requires unlock.

Support
Equipped with LMGs, able to resupply teammates with a limited stack of ammo. Requires unlock.

VIP
Special class for certain missions, only one player per server, open to select for everyone on assigned escort team.

Army Ops will provide the classic Operations gamemode where 24 Players will fight over several key objectives or need to escort/ambush a VIP on compley small to medium sized maps.

Roadmap:
In the next weeks and moth I will heavily work on all aspects of the game, one core part to test and get running the the account master server and with this the rank system.
I will work on new Maps, weapons and classes. Everything done right now is set to be a placeholder for final art. Meaning Weapon Animations will be very simple for the most part right now. They will be replace later on in development but it'S easier to get started with more weapons and simple animations.
Army Ops will launch in Early Access this year, this means the game is not finished on Early Access start. Trainings and working unlocks are planned to be implemented at some point during the early access phase. The game will get more complex over time, new features will be added.
Like America's Army 2 had it's major patches (like Special Forces, Coalition, Overmatch ...), Army Ops will follow the same pattern and add with named major updates several core features every several weeks/month to the game.

Hooah!

Wouldn't it be better if the game was over right away ?!
to let players know what they are up to and not to quit the game because of new features,A lot of people today, there is no patience to wait..
I wish you all the best and I will surely come to try the game!!

I can't say this right now. I will provide a early version in early access as a pitch and the community feedback is giving me the direction on how it will develop.

More hardcore does not always mean more frustrating or more waiting. The game will still be short rounds but a deadly experience. I want to add more tactical depth to the game like a Pioneer class which is not well armed but if protected and escorted by the team the pioneer can arm/disarm bombs faster. Just as an example. Give the individuall classes more depth and abilities.
