Should I come back?
« on: Friday, December 06, 2013, 02:37:30 AM »
Hello everyone,

I am former -former- player.
I consider playing back since I always missed that game  :) but I just wanted to know more informations:

How many people are playing on average? Is there still enough clans (or ppl online) to have some good fun (or only one map playing...)?

is there still tournaments/battles?

Is there still cheaters on that game?

Are people still insulting all the time (I really hope so because that is what I missed the most haha  :style: :D )

Any french-speaking team left?

Is there less teenagers on the game now?

More important: is it possible to run my old buddy on a macbook?

I do not remember which versions I exactly used to play but I think around the 2.7 I might have stopped (since sf.blizzard and so on I was not playing anymore)

If you want to know more about "me" or let's say, my "old me" :

(is it possible to get the tracker back by the way? :p )

have a nice day, glad to see that this wonderfull game is still running!

Hope I will kick your ass on pipeline soon...

Cheers,

Over

Welcome :) I only have an answer to 1 of your questions;

How many people are playing on average? Is there still enough clans (or ppl online) to have some good fun (or only one map playing...)?

Okay, fair enough, I could have paid more attention, I suppose :p

As long as it is possible to have some fun, I am cool with that!

But has the game changed in so many years? Basically, I 've stopped playing 6 or 7 years ago =)

Need some motivation to come back...!

To the die-hard fans, it hasn't changed.

To me, it has. Personally, I haven't found the game "fun" in a long time. Mostly just because the environment that I enjoyed it in is gone. At that time in my life, I had nothing else to do and I found some friends in the game and it was good fun being in Teamspeak and playing every night. People have come and gone, I've "grown up" since then and I find other games more enjoyable. That's just me though. I hang around here because it's fun to develop for the game as a hobby and there's some good people that hang around this forum and actively play the game. I'm sure plenty of fun is had every night still. I know there's more players on 2.5 now than there was 4-6 years ago so we must be doing something right.

Also if you need motivation, just browse around on here. A lot of cool stuff has been done on this forum for the game since you stopped playing.

Soon there will be a big update that will introduce AA3 maps and many other nifty things.

1. Spanky answered this one.

2. There are self planned screams going on through clans everyday mostly, there is a fun league tournament as well. Once you have a clan, you can register the clan to the fun league tournament here http://fun-league-community.com/

3. There might be a cheater one or two, but they get banned sooner or later with the newest Anti Cheat system. Current security is well optimized and running.

4. There are people who insults others, there were more before. Its always going to be like this, it is in every game. But definitely it is less.

5. There are, but can't remember which one's. Check this thread, might help. Just notice it's not all clans of AA, http://aao25.com/general-chat-90/index-of-clan-websites-and-voip-servers

6. Don't know this one, might be that there are more mature people now than it was before. Most of the players I think may be over 20 years old but some of them might be kids.

7. It is possible.

Is there less teenagers on the game now?

This game has always attracted a older audience then the average FPS, that is my feeling about it.
But to answer your question, Yes I think average age has risen a lot since launch.

For instance, I'm turning 41 in a few days.

Hello Overdose, where are you from in Belgium? I'm from Brussels, currently playin for watnc, with another french guy and people from everywhere. There are different clans, but I think it's fair to say the clans always play the same maps. Sometimes you'll have one or two original maps being played, and i hope it will happen more (see tournament discussion).

For me the game hasn't really changed, every day I still have fun on it, meeting nice people ingame, on forums and on ts, so yes you should come back ;)

ps: lol wtf kari ^^

As for the Battletracker account.

If you can log into your battletracker, then that's the same info you use to log in to Assist.

If you can't log into battletracker, try recovering your password.

If that still fails, you can always just claim your honor on the appropriate board here on the forums.
