Media Mistake says California Umemployment Rate is 14%,

yes on the they showed a graph on a news station in the bay area that said 14% of californians are out of work and then the same day said they made a mistake and was actually 8.9%. how the hell do they mix up those numbers? i think they gave the real percentage...

its more of the way they presented their information and then came back 20 minutes later with a somewhat guilty look and hard to say exactly what i meant but it sure made it sound like they were lying. 8.9% unemployment is already shit, if it actually were 14% thats like doubling it and i can only imagine why they'd lie about the real percentage.

I've done news/broadcasting before and all I can say is there is a 50% chance the rate is real or not. One guy is in charge of typing up the script for the teleprompter. Now another is in charge of getting the information and relaying it to the guy who types it up. Then there is the actual source information. First thing you need to do is find out the source and make a decision where down the chain the info could be false or legit. So either: source is true or lying, or the info digger was looking at something else when e-mailing the scriptwriter with what to write, or the scriptwriter was looking at something else.

the news does suck but what other type of informative stations are you gonna wathc for traffic and weather? its ok to watch it as long as you dont belive everything they tell you. you gotta stay alert and know whats going on with your city /area.
