ASSAULT

Situation

Coalition forces attacked a Resistance supply convoy in AO TWILIGHT with fixed wing aircraft, disabling a large truck and blocking further movement of the convoy. Government ground forces are preparing to assault the convoy to seize supplies and destroy any resistance forces at the site.

ROE

Rules of Engagement published 14MAR04 are in effect.

Mission

ODA 214 attacks objective Convoy vicinity JA050671 commencing 31 December 04 to seize enemy supplies in order to degrade capabilities of government forces in AO Twilight.

Enemy

Squad sized element of government soldiers supported by foreign advisors. Enemy elements are believed to include three armored personnel carriers.

Troops

Split Team "Alpha" 214 and Resistance Fire Team

Terrain

High-altitude mountain road. Steep cliffs with dense snow in some areas. Adverse weather conditions prevent air support. Take precautions against cold weather injuries.

DEFENSE

Situation

Coalition forces transporting arms and ammunition struck an improvised explosive device (IED), immobilizing one of their vehicles. They are in defensive positions awaiting a relief force. The resistance wishes to capture those supplies in order to rearm its own guerilla forces and degrade the government's offensive capability in the AO TWILIGHT.

Mission

ODA 214 defends objective Convoy vicinity JA050671 commencing 31 December 04 to destroy enemy forces in order to protect essential resistance materiel and supplies.
