Title: Removing yellow background from scanned PDF
Post by: teddy_grizzly_bear on Thursday, February 26, 2015, 01:53:08 AM
Has anyone got any experience with this?

Should I do something when scanning them (are there settings for this? I don't know) or can it somehow be post-processed?

The yellow is there quite clearly in the original sheet music. It's from the 80s.

I'll also add a page from the pdf. Pardon the upside down and weird language.

Any help would be appreciated.

For a document like that, try scanning in either greyscale or monochrome. Monochrome may be too coarse but greyscale will leave a grey background.

If that don't work, the only option I can think of is loading up the pdf in Photoshop, and apply "Levels".
You'll loose some detail, look here:

I'm guessing there are filters in PS that can improve the quality.

Here is the second try:

This time I converted the image to grayscale before adjusting the levels.

OMG Awesome! :)

Too bad I don't have photoshop and there's 20 pages alltogether :(

I'll try to get PS at a later date (no time today).

But if you have the spare time, you can do all of them and I would be ever so grateful!

I don't know what you're talking about here exactly.

You can officially get a 30 day trial of Photoshop, I believe.

And it is, of course, possible to obtain programs illegally as well, if that's what you're talking about.
