Post by: Dialects on Thursday, October 28, 2010, 07:21:44 AM
Happy birthday, you fucker.

Have fun, crack'em girls down (or boys, for instance...) and be jealously happy.

Orly? Some friend I am :P but to be fair, I don't see it advertised anywhere (probably on his facespace or somethin?) and I never knew it before so it's not like I forgot :)

Anyway, have a good one Mr. Leancu. Don't take no for an answer and fuck what other people think.

lmao, well It's not his fault I was doing a social experiment. I thought he would've checked with my birthday here which I'm sure I listed.

This did bring a lot of lulz however.

I looked but figured you just didn't fill it out. I probably could have looked at the MySQL DB to see when it is...

That sounds like a lot of work. A simple google of my name would have been enough. But then again, who googles for friends birthdays?

Boys and girls, today's lesson is: Do not trust what Facebook tells you...

Or better yet, don't use it at all :P

I have a feeling we have gone through this subject in the past...quite fiercely!

For a foreign, Facebooks serves as a lovely "tool" to keep in touch with your family, local friends and so forth; moreso than a trivial "social" patent.

Personally, I use Facebook for two simple reasons, and those alone:
1) Keep contact with family/friends/and most recently, University Societies
2) Publicise/Share my crafts and doings in the area of Illustration, Music, Painting, Writing, Thinking and the likes.
2.01) I do share a few vides every now and then. Good music that I think should be passed onto others.

Several précis have been laid down as to the veracity and character-like type of the most fervid and ostentatious Facebook users, of which I follow to agreement with:
          - Evermoaning-everattentionwhore Facebook user.
          - I-am-all-pro-active-in-my-life-because-I-brush-my-teeth-every-night-and-the-world-knows-it Facebook user.
          - Unattender-sex-seeker-that-loves-to-flirt Facebook user.
          - A-"serious"-notsoserious-gamer Facebook user.
          - And the list goes on...

P.S:. I actually laughed as I was typing the second type of Facebook user down. Satire aside, it is unfortunate to see and understand that our world is so dominantly popularised with the kind of people mentioned previously on the post.

Yea, you've said that before. I just... what happened to e-mail? If you're going to just keep in touch with someone, I don't see how e-mail isn't enough. IM'ing with someone... go on a major chat network. Things like Myspace and Facebook just add an extra middleman.

Yea but I love screwing around with people on a semi-global-local scale. It makes me feel important.

E-mail is still there, just not serving the same effect as it once did.

I barely do IM'ing these days. All I want is to be able to go on a page and see that my twin brother is alive, and so on.

If you ignore the childish side of Facebook/Myspace, you can take the most out of it without blending with the kiddy-playing.

Take Twitter as an example --Some people use to righteously promote their work. Some other use it to attain attention, attention and attention.

My opinion is that problem lies in the usage we give to these services, not in the services themselves.

I could agree with your last sentence Dann. I only use Twitter so people can go there and see what I'm up to IF they're interested. I try not to shove my life down someone else's throat but apparently there are people who genuinely care out there so my Twitter is for them. Also, it serves as a pretty decent archive for myself.

Facebook pisses me off most of the time. Recently people have been making their profile pictures pink to "raise awareness" for breast cancer. It annoys me because they think it is actually doing something. So I posted this

I didn't turn my profile picture pink to support breast cancer detection, instead, I donated
some actual money to the cause because I actually want to do something. Make yours at

+1 internetz. Great post.
