I have decided to go to The University of Michigan Dearborn to study Computer Engineering.

Not that it is really any concern of you guys, I just though it would be nice to let everyone know.  ;)

You don't seem interested in computer engineering. I've not seen any interest or traits on your part.

I'm not really interested in anything on a career level. I do love working with computers so I figured why not?

... so you're going to college to learn something that you don't want as a career?

Not necessarily. I am interested in computer engineering. What I meant by my statement was that I really had no set career in mind when I was "supposed to".  So basically I find computer engineering interesting, I just never really thought about it, or any other career for that matter, until recently.

It really sucks not really knowing what you want to do, but I will never know if I like it or not until I try it.

This isn't a slam against you personally.

IMO, a person hasn't matured until they know what they like. People being shuffled into college just to rack up debt when they don't know what they're interested in is one of America's pitfalls.

Killaman, if you are unsure or don't know, don't waste your time. You can ALWAYS go to college. You can't make your debt disappear or get back those 2-4 years.

Spanky, I know what I like, I just don't know what to do for a career.I knew I wanted to have a career in computer, I just didn't know exactly what.

I also want to know how you could possibly associate a career choice with someone's maturity.

Ideally, wouldn't it be the same thing?

I didn't say that career choice is indicative of maturity. I said and meant that knowing what you like/want to do with your life is part of maturity.

None of that was aimed at you though. You do seem mature and not someone that is wandering around aimlessly.

Computers is a huge field with a lot of different career opportunities. I knew I wanted to do one of them, I just didn't know which one.

Back to my original point though, I wouldn't have guessed this. You don't seem like a noob but you also aren't all-knowing. You ask for help and whatnot, granted, your skill level is above average to me but I just wouldn't have pegged you for that type of career. Although, to be fair, I can't think of another career you would do... You're a mystery man Killaman.

I couldn't really see myself doing any other career either. I am always interested in learning new things, especially in the way of computers. I have learned a few things in my spare time  (basic photoshop, extremely basic pokemon scripting, extremely basic knowledge of computer hardware) but I am either too lazy or just do not have the time to learn other things that require a lot of time and a lot of effort to do. I like the sound of being a mystery man though.  8)

Good thing you do not need to be an intellectual or intelligent to be just a computer engineer...
