Basically, Arizona signed a law that would make the failure to carry immigration documents a crime and give the police power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. Just to clear things up, the police can't randomly ask for immigration papers, as I understand it, you would have to be pulled over or searched for a different reason. Of course a ton of groups are now up in arms saying that the law supports racial profiling. Now Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the U.S. will sue Arizona over the immigration law, seemingly with the support of president Obama who has already denounced the law.
I know it is kinda old but I felt like another debate. What does headshot think about the immigration law?

Racial profiling will always be around. I see no problem with this. It's the old thing that if you're obeying the law, you have nothing to hide. While I agree with the law, I don't see it as doing much. The Mexicans will just go to California instead.
-
People don't understand this law at all. All it's doing is making it possible for laws that were ALREADY THERE to be carried out. It changes almost nothing.
-
I agree with both of you guys. People constantly misinterpret the law when in fact, it already happens. It won't do much but at least it is a step in the right direction. Obama should stop denouncing Arizona and start backing them with legislation in congress.
This is another classic case of the federal government not doing anything so the states have to get it done. Now the government is trying to sue Arizona for doing something it should have done many years ago.

I agree with that until the nothing to hide statement. We have the 4th amendment for a reason and it's not to just let pedophiles and robbers off the hook.
I really have no problem with the law... everytime you're stopped you're usually requested to show ID anyway. So it sounds like the only thing this changes is if you're an immigrant, you need to carry a extra paper or two. Not a bad price to pay, imo. If you don't like it you can go back to Mexico with the lovely cartels.
-
They have always been asked for the papers IF they are... suspicious "looking." And if there has been a reason for it. Now it's just saying that they can ask for the papers even without them being suspicious "looking."

suspicious "looking."
You mean brown?

Open the borders to anyone and everyone, amirite?

I dunno if you can call them borders anymore.

I see no borders, no walls, no colors.
Just a bunch of fuckin wetbacks crawling across the river at night.
-
What it's gonna take is for some akbar to cross over the Mexican border and blow something up, before we take our own borders seriously.

How is it offensive? I would imaging if you are in the country legally you would be pissed that illegals are in here not paying taxes and free riding off of the government while you worked you ass off to live here. Even immigrants are behind this law. And again, it is basically like the police running a background check, are people going to start bitching about that? It is no harder to keep your papers on you then it is to keep your license on you and registration plus proof of insurance in your car. It is not that big of a hassle and does not promote racial discrimination.

The U.S. finally sued Arizona over their immigration law. I'm really going to be pissed if they force Arizona to repeal the law. Let's let all the illegals in the country so they can live off of U.S. welfare while not paying a single penny of taxes. What does the U.S. government do about this? Nothing. Arizona finally does something about it and now the U.S. is suing them for actually taking action? I say the U.S. government needs to learn something from Arizona, they need to get off their asses and finally take action before it is too late.

The Federal Government actually blocked part of the law. The law will still go in effect, but it is not going to work as intended, meaning the law is basically useless. The government can't do their god damn job but get mad when the states do it for them. Our national government is full of morons, including Obama.
-
lol. I'm not racist.
-
hmm lol i didnt see the rest of you guys reply. Well i agree with you on that Killaman.. ITS NOT FAIR!! god damn wetbacks/other immigrants of different races, think they can have it easy! And btw just a week ago one of my family members crossed one of my cousins over lol . Now she is doing nothing, waiting for an opportunity for a fucking job, pay no taxes, do whatever she desires with her money, pay no bills! THATS BULLSHIT! MEANWHILE i work my ass off at work, pay taxes, pay bills, and cant freely go out comfortably and spend whatever the fuck i want with nothing to worry about! DAMN.
