Title: Server on same internet connection as clients
Post by: telvenes on Thursday, February 04, 2016, 08:10:46 AM
Hi,

I installed my server following this guide http://aa25assist.sourceforge.net/Data/LReadme.txt (http://aa25assist.sourceforge.net/Data/LReadme.txt)
my server reporting: AuthOK 79.161.225.226 and is working perfect outside my homenetwork.

The first problem i had was this message: No record of this server on the Assist Master Server, Cannot Authorise, Please try a different server

To fix this i activated Pure-Nat loopback inside my pfsense firewall. But now once again i saddenly get this message again.

anyone have a suggestion how to fix this on my local lan so i dont have to order a second internet line?

Same has happened for players connecting from different network:
http://aao25.com/forum/support/'no-record-of-this-game-server'/ (http://aao25.com/forum/support/'no-record-of-this-game-server'/)

Check if this one helps: http://aao25.com/forum/support/cant-connect-to-my-localhost-server/ (http://aao25.com/forum/support/cant-connect-to-my-localhost-server/)

Otherwise Im quite sure Pipezor (http://aao25.com/forum/profile/?u=7395) can help you. Merlin would also know what the issue is but he's not reading forum and I don't remember his email

And a strange thing is if i click my server in assist it shows 1000 in ping, weard since it is a 24core and 200gb ram vmware. and my internet is 1000mbit

well for me that error comes when I try to join high ping servers, while I joined your server my ping was surprisingly good, or it was 250 + 40 lol

What is that computer that you have that you can put such resources for vmware?

Anyway check your vmware virtual network settings that it surely uses your nat, and multihome settings in servers ini file if needed (dunno if vmware virtual network adapter is counted as second network adapter)

Also OS firewall on both, host and vmware.

machine is a DELL server
i run esxi6 and there is no firewall on vmware, or host witch is ubuntu, is this answer ping related? becouse i beleave that i have fixed the joining problems now.

The answer was joining related, but good that you fixed it. That ping thing is new for me, if for others it work well. What if you ping/trace route the server from host/whatever you use to check the ping, does it give normal ping?

Usually my ping is something from 50 to 80 when Im connected to servers located in Germany or Netherlands. If I go to high-ping server I can't see myself higher value than 250 and if my ping would be for example 251 it would show that my ping is 1, after 250 it will kind of start counting again. So therefore my ping was either about 40 which would be surprisingly good for me - or it was 250 + 40 which would be unplayable. I guess it was the first one, I was alone there and didn't test it that much.

Strange ping, i think this is my internet provider thats makeing it like this so i gues i just ask them before trying more.

its not a problem, for the most we have 10-15 in ping but mabey once every hour it jumps to 200 for about 2-3 sekonds and after that its back to 10-15

Is that just statistics or also playing exprience? Just wondering because when a player joins the server, ping seems to be higher for a moment.

yes that fixed it. Anyone know why the server sometimes lags?

I have checked, internet is ok. low ping still 100mbit free, load is 0.05 firewall is 0.03 load.

Yes. You need different ports for the different servers.

You're still talking about your home server?

Perhaps after 2 hours you had more players and your connection couldn't handle it?
Or it could be that in the evening someone else in your household was also using your internet and that's why it couldn't handle it.

Hmm didnt he have like 1gb or 100mb internet? Been on his server with much players on and no lag.

Maybe here I could ask this:

I tried to put aa server running on lubuntu and tried with xubuntu also  on vmware. The problem is that red X in assist server list where ping should be and I tried different port forwarding settings but still couldnt get it to work.

Another thing is: how can I have more than one server on Linux? With Windows its pretty easy, I just change the process id in assist server manager and it actually creates a new executable per server with that number.

With Linux, its anyway more manual: I need to have two different size server-bin files, and I need to rename one to serverx. Which one anyway? The help file doesnt tell and I need to do it by trying because I forgot it after the first try.

Also it has many times now left out the system.7z packet, creates only empty file and I needed to download and extract it separately.

Well that serverx file and pid.. when I choose a pid, it doesnt show it up in task manager as the pid of serverx nor server-bin. How could I run then two servers? And how can I know which server is which? It doesnt even open any window when I click "start server" so without task manager I dont know if it even started anything or not.

Telvenes, could you help me? How to set up networking with vmware? I use vmware player with xubuntu now. My aa server shows red X where ping should be. I tried to do port forwarding like I did with aa servers that run on the host now, but it doesnt work.

I have no possibility for that. And I have servers running on the host and everything works well with them. I tried with both nat and bridged network setting on vm. So its pretty weird.

see here: https://www.vmware.com/support/ws45/doc/network_configure_ws.html (https://www.vmware.com/support/ws45/doc/network_configure_ws.html)

Use bridged. then you server will get a ip in the same network

Tried with bridged, but didnt work. And I want my network computers to be hidden in vm.

need to set up virtual lan in your firewall then.
