You can also run your own 2.5Assist authorized server by renting a VPS server from a hosting company, Use a windows one for easy of setting up, If you are a really good computer hacker you can use a Linux VPS which is cheaper but very difficult to set up. Your server must have at least 512mb RAM and 5Gb Disk space.
Once you get your login details you connect to the server using 'remote desktop connection' in windows and you install Assist on it.

Hey Guys,

Iam running the "Flashbang International" server and it works verry good!
10 Players playing at this moment without lag and there happy ;)

I will apply the beta auth system to my server this night, the server is full now and i don't want to quit it,..

First argument is that when the server is full, i can't join as admin,..
Next argument is that the icons below the tab "A" are dissapeard,..

More is comming, working on it ^^

Thanks guys!

greets

It only shows auth servers,

Aha that explains a lot ;) (before it didn't,..)

Another question; When i re-activate the server with the new BETA client is it also tracked then?

I can host around 10-15 Assist servers comfortably, trouble is that the way Assist is loaded, users will not have full control over there server

Thats not true, with some simple adjustments the user (i think you mean customer) can fully manage the server.
Check my server -> Flashbang International. (online @ old version 25Assist)

Clients / Customers its all the same ;)
Currently iam working on the auth system on my server so i can't help you with a server at this moment,..
But what you need is the following;

- Setup  a server with remote access like RealVNC, TightVNC, etc
- Install 25Assist on it and run it in server mode
- If you rent it to your customer(s) make sure that you block everything else (like harddisk acces, shutdown of the system, etc)

If you logon to remote access you can manage your server at the highest level;
If you logon as admin in the AAO2 server you can change your settings there too;
When you are a advanced user you can install PBUCON (from punkbuster) then you can manage your server through web-based pages;

Good luck :)

I you don't want to give full access, why don't you just use firedaemon or TCAdmin.  I have setup and used Both they provide a Web interface that can be customised to display what ever you want.

TCAdmin

AOWC used TCAdmin and it was a pretty nice panel for clients, can't go wrong with it IMO.

Art of War Central was always good and friendly. They would install any game if you give them a download link.

Found a good cheap host. I emailed them they said you do get FTP and they will be happy to install the mod for you if you ask.

http://www.lowpinggameservers.com/  only $1 per slot. Yes art of war is cheaper but i had problems with them.

We have been hosting AA servers for over 4 years now and host some of the top 10 AA3 servers in the browser. We also host AA2.5 and have had a couple servers running for quite some time now. I do not see a problem adding the assist to our install set up. In the mean time if you need it installed we can do that within a few minutes of the support ticket being opened.

Wow, thanks for coming by and registering. Maybe we can work out a deal where you're the official dedicated host of Assist and sponsor us a server? :)

Are you getting a free server from them? IMO, it would be a good thing to advertise them, perhaps in Assist and on the Assist website. Get a 2-way street thing going where we get more variety of reliable high-slot servers and they get more clients.

Hello,
First of all i want to say that its great that you people have aa2.5 back working again. Great work! Im about to buy my own server and noticed something:
http://www.totalgamehosting.com/  Does not seem to work anymore.
and
http://lowpinggameservers.com/   also supports European locations. Perhaps this can be added to the first post of this topic.

Is there any chance that clanservers.com will support the 2.5 assist server? Ive had a gameserver at clanservers in the past and it worked great. Allways 24/7 help if needed.

update: I did allready contact gameservers.com. They do support 2.6 was their reply. I explained them that 2.6 is not beein used anymore and i gave them a link to this page. I hope they will cooperate. FPS acces for sure, friendly staff etc etc. Will post their reply asap.

Here's the  readme, you got to install 2.5Assist dedicated server using FTP, You may need help from support, the don't always let you upload .EXE.
http://aa25assist.sourceforge.net/Data/WReadme.txt

Best send a copy of that readme to the server provider and ask them if they will support it.

So if i understand right all i need to ask clanservers.com is if they are willing to upload the assist server to the server that i buy and than things should run fine? Even if they sell it as a 2.6 server?
Title: Re: Server hosting companys suitable for running Assist server

It won't work with 2.6!

Clanservers.com just responded that for now they will not support it. Perhaps someone from AA25 Assist could ask and try to convince them?
Did send a mail to lowpingservers with some questions. Once I have it all running I'll post it here and let you guys know how things went with them.

Art of War Central used to provide FTP access as well as install any version you wanted.

The bottom line is, you need FTP access at a minimum. Stop the server, follow the dedicated readme and it will work, just give it maybe 10 minutes after starting up the first time because the dedicated server has to download files and configure itself. If your game server host doesn't provide FTP access, then send in a support ticket with the dedicated readme linked and see if they will do it for you.

Then about 9 €/Month. But it is just a Server. U have to make it a Gameserver. But with a lil Help everyone is able to do this.

A friend has just purchased a server with gameservers.com and he is having trouble setting the server up.

He let me have a look and unfortunately gameservers.com only provide "ready made" 2.6 servers or newer versions.

But they do provide an option to setup your server using FTP.

I gave this a shot yesterday but it was a lot of guesswork. I installed AA 2.5 on my PC and then edited the server.exe and renamed it serverx.exe  and then downloaded the .zip containing the server files that need to be added to the system directory.

And then using FTP i uploaded the contents of my entire AA installation to the server.

But still no luck, have i missed something or done it completely wrong?

If he already payed then they should support it and just install for him. Tell him to email them this help link:

It teaches the hoster how to install it on windows and linux.

Sadly they experience routing problems in germany since a while.

I got in contact with the support for having ping spikes on my server from different locations.
Quotation:
"There has been several reported network issues in Germany the last couple days, which this is not related to our Data centers but actually the route the client is being directed to the DC location."

Due to this continuing issues with the nodes for weeks I decided to change to another provider.

Everything is running smooth henceforward.

I need a VPS to run a server in South America (specifically Brazil). The Amazon EC2 (free edition) is a very very poor machine :P. I'm having trouble with intermitent lags. I think it is because of low memory (512mb ram)
