Title: Running An Assist Server - Ports & IP's
Post by: Spanky on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, 21:13:25 PM
Since I had a hard time getting my server going, I'm listing out a few things that can help others get theirs going. This is what I did:

Forwarded Incoming UDP Ports:
1716, 1717

Allowed Outgoing UDP Ports:
20046, 20047, 27900

Unblocked IP's in PeerBlock:
63.142.94.250
66.36.231.175
66.117.38.134 - US Army
66.180.170.20
69.10.30.0 - 69.10.30.255 - IGN
188.165.212.209
204.15.228.214
208.88.178.59
209.123.205.212

The 4 red IP's were needed for the server to show up in the browser. The rest were accessing my server at ports 1716-1718 so they wanted something with my AA server.

*EDIT*
I was just looking at my server on PBall and saw there was 10 people in it so I thought I would do a check on how much CPU, memory and bandwidth is required for that. Here's what I got:

At the second half of the bandwidth graph, people started to leave, it was down to about 4 people at that time. I think it's safe to say that for a 10 slot server, you need a minimum of 128MB available memory, a single-core CPU running at 1.5GHz or higher and 500kbps upload. Keep in mind, PBall has physics which puts extra load on the server so for a 1mbps upload internet connection, you should be able to host a 20-26 slot server, depending on the other computers on your network. Maybe these stats will give other people a rough idea of how well their server will perform.

Well... im having trouble here. Oppened all these ports in my router, and it´s not running.

Can anyone help me? Let my write my steps:

- Fixed my internal IP: 10.1.1.6
- Created Virtual Servers on my DLink 500b Router to these ports above.

It did not worked, so i setted 10.1.1.6 as my DMZ Host IP Address.

Nothing too...so what can i do?

Disable external port testing in Assist then run the server. Really though, AA doesn't need more servers, you're just bypassing the security on your router to run a pointless server.

theres no problem if he fills the server :D and yeah, I won't try euro servers(where the majority of players are) higher latency.

*shrug* I gave advice to help. I was just noting that it seems like everybody wants their own server and there's so much division among the community with that.

I got that dude, u´re right. But we just have one server in my country.

It seems that is not working...I start the server but it appears with x in "ping" at the Deploy screen. Like OFFLINE!!!

That's usually how it works. YOU can't see it but other people can. See if others can join the server. If so, then it works and you have to join by clicking the JOIN button on the Server tab.

Hi folks!

I managed to make a server from PC, but I really don't get it how to add PlayerAdmin.
I visited this link;

http://battletracker.com/forum/america-s-army-2-x-forums/america-s-army-discussions/192313-how-do-i-host-my-own-america-s-army-server/ (http://battletracker.com/forum/america-s-army-2-x-forums/america-s-army-discussions/192313-how-do-i-host-my-own-america-s-army-server/)
Quote
[Engine.AccessControl]
AdminPassword=put a password here
GamePassword=password to join the server or not, your choice.
; PlayerAdmin=SomePlayerName,password
PlayerAdmin=put your AA game name and playeradmin password here
e.g.
PlayerAdmin=replikantos,jellyfish

;but didn't work, and i'm not sure if it is on the file Server.ini or aa25srv.ini.

Perhaps it is an old query, but I couldn't find solution in this forum yet.

Appreciated if you folks could help me in this mater.

Thanks!!!

Spanky officially doesn't visit this site anymore (only as a guest) so you better find someone else to answer your question

I have two pc's at home. One is my server PC, the one that hosts the AA Assist Server, and the otherone is my "game" pc. Is it possible to join my own local server?
In the deployment area seems the server offline (x ping)

Will it help to setup a dedicated server instead of a AA Assist server?

you will only be able to join from the same server PC using the Join Button at Server Tab,
if you have a "good" PC running the server and playing in the same machine should not affect server or game performance.

Copy your install (covered in the FAQ) and change the ports in the settings. Personally, I just change the first number, i.e. 2716 2718.

you have to delete the "settings.dat" in the assist folder after you did copy it.
only then start the new assist - it may ask you blabla while doing so, say "yes" to it.
then go server tab, options and do your config with ports, admin pass ...
enjoy
