Title: AAO25-25Assist Linux Installation and Setup Guide (UPDATE: Rev 0.1)
Post by: OICURMT2! on Friday, May 24, 2013, 05:10:22 AM

Filename: AAO25-25Assist Linux Installation and Setup Guide (rev-0.1).pdf
Doc Control #: Revision 0.1
Release Date: 15JULY2013
Location:[Direct Link] (http://aao25.com/downloads/AAO25-25Assist Linux Installation and Setup Guide (rev-0.1).pdf)

Note that this is Revision 0.1 of the guide.  I'm still trolling through it to catch any mistakes I may have made.

The guide takes you through the acquisition, installation, setup and basic scripting.  This new revision includes some advanced scripting.  Included in Appendix C is the full source for the aa25 control script.

Future versions will include server optimization.

I've set the download for this file as public on the Aus AAO25 community forums.  Please stop by and register if you feel like getting involved.  Also, I'll setup an area for Q&A on the forums.

Good Gaming!

It is set to Public and only required visitors to go to download Tab instead of signing up if they choose not too.

Update: Seems it wont allow visitors to Download without registering So ill manually Make Sergio an account and Private message Details for him.

Just a thought but might I suggest instead of having a download section, just have a forum post with Dropbox links. Everybody can download that can view the forum post.

If you Seen the detail in this Document then you would understand why it has to be Downloaded, Unfortunately none of you actually seem keen to take a look at this so a Big loss to all of you and a pity it will go to waste.

Langy, you have to download things from dropbox as well. It's just a whole lot easier since you don't have to register on an extra site.
The file's less than 8mb, dropbox can handle that without any problems.

As for taking a look at it, it's not really worth having a look if I don't plan on setting up a Linux server, don't you think? It could be, of course, useful to read it and/or comment on it if I had previously started a Linux server and had any input to give, but I'm guessing most people don't.

Guys...

I'm still in Brisbane, headed back to Adelaide tomorrow.  Will try to get the file put in the general public area.  Make as no sense why you can't download, as the forums are a setup like "drop box".

Note the file is currently 7+Mb.  Once Rev 1 hits, It'll be more than 10Mb.

Teddy explained it above so I'll just say that I don't play or have Assist and I don't run Linux either so why would I want to look at info on how to setup a server :)

Just got back and tried to allow a no registration download to no avail...

Considering my lack of enthusiasm to create yet another damn account on another damn service, I'll try to figure out the next best alternative... and in lieu of an appropriate solution, will endeavor to make the file available asap.

Oh, so you're saying you don't have an account on dropbox? Or does dropbox require an account in order to download?

In my experience most people have a dropbox account anyway. And I'm pretty sure dropbox doesn't require an  account to download files (in fact I just tried it).

Dropbox is great for personal things and file downloads where you don't have enough web space bandwidth.

Sign up here for an extra 250MB:

DropBox requires that you install a program on your computer in order to access the DropBox (upload).  I started the process, but stopped when it asked me to install a resident program on my comp, which would just be another WinBloz process...

Download is "free"... or I think it is anyway.  So , no , I don't have an account and really don't have a desire to have yet another account I have to track and remember a password for...

As for personal things, I have three servers in the house, each managing a different aspect of my life (RAID general storage, Media Server and Engineering Server).  HDD Docked backups for all, stored in a fire-proof safe.

Added a mirror site to the first post...

Mirror is on the Aus Ladder Files Area, subject to deletion depending on bandwidth from downloading.

another WinBloz process...

I'm a firm believer that people that say M$, Winblowz and other attempts to make fun of a product so widely accepted actually lower their IQ every time they spew that nonsense.

It's funny too, you don't HAVE to install Dropbox, it's just recommended. You can do everything from their web interface.
