I remember back in the day pipeline and bridge was pretty boring because these maps was always the only availible most of the time. i have played too much bridge and pipeline. but now days its not a problem to play on bridge or pipeline

hack is what u buy, a cheat is a server that enables it, big difference lol

snakeplain and interdiction is best played without cheat and with original loadouts that is set for each of these levels. On the custom maps i think its okay to grab whatever gun you like to start with and that is by using the cheats, its basically just like an admin would do when forceclassing weapons exept you do it on yourself. but using the other cheats like godmode is not accepted or FreeCam.

"hack" and a "cheat" is kind of within the same family of wording it but they have some difference. but its not a big deal. say what ever u want lol

lol why you guys calling it a hack??? its a cheat enable server, fly mode, god mode, fcing, or behindview is'nt a hack on a cheat enable server lmfao........ btw snakeplain was a great map to play on 2.85

yeah its much better to play without the cheats (Especially on the original maps) but it is COOP and Its not like there is much easier to play with cheats on so it is not that big deal on the custom maps, its basically just weapon changes and medicpacks(god mode is a no no). basically on 285 the only cheats being used is only on the coop server and no FreeCam Stuff. no cheats used on pvp even tho its on.

Falken, that day I was banned from a 2.8.5 server a year ago, there were a few players flying around. Even the server admin was using the flying hack. I can’t remember what hack I tried (I have never ever tried using hacks since I started playing AA, so it was my first go at doing it), I think it was something simple like FCing myself an AR. The admin and some other players were using the flying hack and that’s okay, but me FCing an AR is a permanent ban... Pathetic. lol. Being able the play on cool CO-OP maps is great, but I wouldn’t recommend people to play 2.8.5, unless they like using hacks, or don’t mind others using hacks. Assist is the closest thing to a good old fashioned game of AA there is. :)

but then again i could be wrong. how could the firing sounds sound different inside or outside lol

thats interesting nprblm, that needs some testing. but i think its because when the flash goes behind u on 2.8.5 they don't blind u unless it flashes in front of you. in 2.5 it seems to flash u as long is its close enough to you. There should be a sort of trigger system that controls the state of a player being "inside" or "outside" Im not sure if this is implemented in any of aa's versions but i don't think so.

I bet that if cheats would be enabled it would be abused here more than the people that play pvp on aa285 with cheats enabled. In 285 there is a mix of cheatON/cheatsOFF servers but most of them have it enabled. but on pvp i dislike the cheats 100% and should never be on.

both versions is the sam except for if somebody hurts you there is no patch that you can stop the bleeding yourself buhuuuuu lol

but there is really no need to play pvp on 285 as long as aao 2 5 is still here + as you say gunman here it is no server with any cheats enabled wich ensures that noone is using cheats on pvp.

Its not the best really to have a splitt in game version as hightechbear mentioned. its always better to have everyone playing on one version but there is maybe people on mac and linux(?) who can not so easily use 285 version.

I get you gunman. cheating removes much/some of the real fun in playing this game. but i don't think the cheats being used is a big issue as long as people don't pretending to be an airplane flying around with god mode and i have never seen people doing that in a long time and im sure that will notbe accepted by the people who play on aa285. maybe thats why u got ban? lol and i don't think they ban people for no reason either.

I did play 2.8.5 until a year ago. Everyone on the server was using hacks so I decided to have a go. Some admin decided to give me a permanent ban because of it. So, everyone can use hack exept for me? Utter shite attitude, so I deleted it and never bothered with it since

In my opinion, 2.8.5 could be really something great if the cheats and hacks were turned off (on the whole game, not just on non-cheat servers). I really loved Snakeplain back in the day, and replaying it now, there's just a load of hackers that fly around sooting up bots with unlimited weapons, which really ruined it. Where's the fun in hacks, seriously...?

you can pvp on it but most/if not all the active servers on 2.8.5 are coop

on 285 there are people using the mpcheat changeclass and medic cheats on the COOP but no god mode. as for the hackers like these using wallhacks i think that is just rumors. when people play pvp there people follow the no cheating disipline pretty good even with the cheats enabled

I mainly go pvp on the 2.5 but sometimes pvp on 285 too. there is even cheats enabled on one of the pvp servers but none of us use cheats when on the pvp servers.
