There are arguments on both sides of it. I'm not saying wether it is right or wrong but I do think it should be considered

yep, thankfully it doesnt take much code to put something like that in place, just the man hours getting all the process names and hash's too look out for & processing them into a database.

I know some of the old competition anticheat modules used to check the live executables against a table of known md5's and if you only scan those that are in process your not looking at too many iterations, you could even scan part by part when there are more cycles free to lower the possibility of any lag.

Just a future thought.

Curious? Is the server running from the same machine your trying to join from?

Would it be any possible/practical to run the server on a virtual linux machine? Considering he's running on a Powerpc processor it also  may be the only other way for a homeserver. Still, i guess it's not easy to setup and on the other hand i wonder if the G4 is powerful enough to accomplish to that kind of duty on a virtual machine.

p.s. all of that was written thinking as of not installing a Linux distro on his hdd...otherwise i would just partition/repartition it and install a PowerPc linux distro.

Yeah I was thinking around avoiding him having to install a linux based on the fact that the discussion of ports threw him :/

Simple of it is you cant host a server on MAC that allows punkbuster, can one of your clanmates host the server on windows or linux? considered renting a server?

Hopefully I will get this installed on my server this weekend, been a busy week of shitty bug fixes and I haven't felt like playing around with computers after work this week.

I do have a tracker account but it shows me as 15 as i got tracked in that short time that auth was down and tracker was still picking up by playername, so would like it rolling back to 75.

Previous honor was 75, no proof but should be in tracker database maybe :/ also tracker shows pointage and hours played.

I still think if there were an automated command line program (like the original AA servers) then gameserver companies like AOWC would be able to host servers no problem.

Johnny if you want to get one of these going PM me the details of what is required to run (files, protocols, resources etc) and I can get to work on a windows one quickly and then port it afterwards for linux & mac.

Probably yeah! I just thought based on the environment (large industrial room, multiple sources of wind) that dust wouldnt settle with people running through if that makes sense, but its a seriously good job!

Is that a erm 'private' editor your using for that?
