Support / Re: AAO25 on Ultra wide screen?

Which samsung you have??

I haven't installed aa2.5 in my main computer

I got this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDQMQQS2?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_fm_apan_dp_8Y3CDJDGDV1PMYT2GP9M&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_fm_apan_dp_8Y3CDJDGDV1PMYT2GP9M&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_fm_apan_dp_8Y3CDJDGDV1PMYT2GP9M&starsLeft=1&skipTwisterOG=2
You don't need to install it to see what it'll look like. I've give you a step by step guide:
1. Find (or take) a screenshot of the game with another computer
2. Copy said screenshot to the one with the wide screen monitor
3. Open the screenshot and zoom in far enough that the sides of the screenshot hit the side of the screen
4. Bask in the glory of the little sliver of AA you can see :)

PS:
It'll go from something like this:

To something glorious like this:

As you've clearly discovered, this is an old game. Built on an old engine (Unreal Engine 2). The game and engine were released over 2 decades ago. At the time, "wide screen" didn't really exist in the form that it does nowadays.

So TLDR. No, there is no option for you to see further than other people by using a wider monitor. It's just not something that would have made any sense to pursue at the time.

Now, there might be ways to get the game working better with a wide screen aspect ratio. But it's not really something we're in a position to do, I'm afraid. It's not like we have access to any of the source code for the game, for instance.
And even if this was done, many people who've played this game for decades would complain that someone with a weird aspect ratio screen is getting an advantage over them. Whether a real or imagine advantage, doesn't really matter. What matters is that 25Assist caters to more or less 1 audience. And that is the people who used to play this game "back in the day". Whether they've been playing all these years, or have just picked it back up again, most of the people in this audience want an experience similar to what they remember. And that won't be a wide screen immersive gaming experience, I'm afraid.

Unfortunately there is no account by that name in our database.

We didn't inherit the user database from the US Army nor Battletracker. So unfortunately we don't have the user details of every player that was ever registered on either site.
We only migrated accounts that used to log in through 25Assist using their Battletracker login details back when BT was still up.

As for an honor claim, you would need to present some evidence of your previous honor.

You could potentially get something from the massively popular youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/@AAO25Assist

You probably don't want to copy the entire videos, but you might be able to get snippets and/or stills and post a link to the video.

Spoke too soon, one more issue ->

"Error setting display mode: CreateDevice failed (D3DERR_INVALIDCALL). Please delete your armyops.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game."

Edit: Didn't really change much but made it into a server. Maybe false alarm? Also noticed my honor is at 17 instead of 110. Guessing honor got reset at some point in time? No big deal, I actually don't care, more just curious.

Honor wasn't reset unless you created a new account.

In fact, I've checked, and you do have 2 accounts. The other one has the login name "[except!on]".

This may come as a surprise to you but, AA2 is a lot older than the project you're referencing (around 2 decades older, in fact). America's Army 2.0 was released November 6 2003. On Unreal Engine 2.
UEVR was started (at least on GitHub) in September 2022. That's 19 years later. Currently it supports UE versions 4.8 - 5.4.

So yes, AA does run on Unreal Engine. But it's an old version of the engine, so it would not be compatible with new things like URVR.

Therefore, the underlying question becomes moot, unfortunately.

This is an old application. You might want to try and run it as administrator.
The application wasn't necessarily designed to only run correctly when run as an administrator, but it was created before permissions were handled in the modern way. Which means that it may not be able to achieve what it's trying to do without these elevated permissions.
That is to say, we've seen running the application as an administrator work where running it normally doesn't.

PS:
You do not know us. You do not know the intricate details of this piece of software. Running an application as an administrator can pose security risks. So you'll have to judge it based on your own risk tolerance.

It definitely has been a minute! You were Killaman in the past correct? I'm pretty sure I remember your tigers logo haha. I think you, spanky and blueblaster were probably the first dudes I met around these parts back then. Looks like mAAp is pretty dead these days. Is anyone still trying to do any map editing? Stills blows me away this is all still here
Yep, Alex == KiLLaMaN.

And as far as I know, there's noone working on maps nowadays.

I don't think I've logged into this site since probably like 2013 but it's actually wild that you all have kept this going. Legends! I saw a video of my old map SF Office Assault and now I may just hop back in some games for the nostalgia!
Thanks to Hellboy, there's even a tracking system along with honor gaining feedback back to Assist!
(NOTE: We lost those after Battletracker went down a few years ago if that wasn't clear)

Just to remind you a few things:
1) The in game name and login name are different. Make sure you're using your login name when logging in to 25Assist.
2) You can do a password reset using your login name instead of your email (only one or the other is required). Though bare in mind that you still need to have access to the relevant email address.

With that said, there's the information I can give you regarding your 2 accounts:
1.
In game name: GoL^D^RoGEr
Login name: goldroger
Email: **@hotmail.com
2.
In game name: basheer98
Login name: ESCOBAR.P
Email: <>@gmail.com

Hi.

Unfortunately there is only 1 account by any of the names you provided in our database. And that account has 16 honor, so it's not really useful.

The BT ID you provided could be useful indeed. But unfortunately we don't have that account in our database. That'll most likely be because you haven't used that account through 25Assist after the US army stopped supporting the game (so since 2012).

There doesn't appear to be any account registered for 25Assist by the same name you have on the forums, nor under the same IP.

Again, please make sure you're registering and using a 25Assist account for use in game. Hellboy gave you the registration link a above. The 25Assist account is separate from the forum account you used to post here.

I was just curious about it. You guys did it also with the uniforms. I remember the time that 2.5 the camo pattern of the uniforms were dessert on dessert maps. Nowadays you can see the digital camo pattern on the uniforms from 285.

Anyway, no I don’t know how much work it is, to do that kind of stuff.

Thanks for the information.
Good observations!

Back in the day we had a very talented and well motivated member of the team that was capable of and (somehow!) had the time to do such things. But unfortunately he's no longer actively involved in this project.
That's why I say we don't really have the resources to tackle such things.

I'm sorry if the above post felt aggressive or hostile. It certainly wasn't meant as such. People just often underestimate the amount of work seemingly small changes can take. And perhaps they also overestimate the number of members and/or amount of available time for the members of the staff here (or other projects for that matter).
