I actually got a response from Homey saying that he'll keep the AA pages up for a couple more months to give us time to create a replacement. He said that after so long he just wants to move on from Battletracker and I can't really blame him for it. He's done so much for this game I think he deserves a thanks from everyone.
I did suggest buying BT in my original email but he doesn't seem to want to do that, and I don't really blame him. It's his site with a ton of personal user data and handing it over to a stranger would definitely make me hesitant as well. If he responds to my question about registration in the mean time I'll bring it up again and see what happens.

If you open your "tours.ini" in your System folder, you'll see how other maps have their settings (including images) under each tour's section.

Now, you can tell that the screenshots are in "T-Screenshots" which refers to the "T-Screenshots.utx"  in the Textures folder. Now, I haven't messed with anything like that myself, but this is an Unreal Texture Package file. It's a binary file so editing is not as straight forward as adding something to an archive or replacing an image file.

If you wish to add an image there, you'll have to figure out how to do it yourself. I found this link but haven't looked into it myself.

We're still here :)

We hope to get an account management system in place, but in the meanwhile everyone is welcome to use their Battletracker info to play as long as the sight is alive.

As for who's still here. People. Ordinary people. And then some oddballs.

I believe it used to happen more than we see now. I remember shooting on single and he could not get his gun uo before being shot again. Just plugging away until dead was easy. It doesn't do it to the same extent I think.
I was talking about Army Ops not AA2.

Very nice progress!
Everything looks very cool.
Maybe it is nice idea to move aimpoint some pixels to random direction after receiving a hit? So you can still response in close combat, but it will be hard to firefight on long distance. This makes you possible to suppress your enemies. Also implement small suppress effect when bullet hits/flies nearby.
That does happen right now in game, but the extent is extremely small last I tried. It should be a lot more noticeable. And some blood flashing on the screen or something like that would go a long way as well. Right now it was really hard to tell when you were actually hit other than checking the bleeding indication after an interaction with the enemy.

I downloaded the game and registered an account but when I try to log in it says, username doesn't exist.
WHERE did you register your account?
The "Register" link on 25Assist points you to:
As you can clearly see, that link doesn't work and therefore doesn't let you register.
Therefore you didn't register a battletracker account (which we would have no control over, by the way).

That's why I'm asking WHERE you registered your account.

Probably it's about ASSIST 2.5, unfortunately no programs because they have disabled the battletracker and it is not possible to log in anymore , and you can download versions 2.8.5 read on the forum, but too much on the servers is not happening, I am wondering why a handful of people still have the opportunity to play on 2.5 how to see further play in this version? Does anyone say in this topic for Lightening.
WE did not disabled battletracker. We have not control over battletracker. We've just been using it for logins. The owner of the site disabled most of its functionality.

With that said, it is entirely possible for anyone who already has an account at battletracker to log in to Assist with that account and play the game. Right now, registering a new account is not possible, unfortunately.
Some of the admins are hard at work to make a new registration and account management system, but it is hard to tell when this will be ready at this point in time.

What account and where are you trying to activate?

Your best bet would be just to try and guess your password.

We don't own battlettracker and therefore we don't have the passwords used there nor do we have the possibility to change/reset them.

We hope to get our own system of registration/account management up as soon as possible (some basic stuff is ready now - but a lot of work still needs to be done), an ETA is hard to give at this moment in time, unfortunately.

ooo so good luck iam not happy right now from ur last post sorry
have a good day rip aa2 forever
I'm not sure what you're getting at exactly.

He is a man doing a job. His job is to make a game. In order for this scheme to work the game needs to make money. One has no legal right to use other people's work (including - but not limited to - graphics, sounds and map design) for their own monetary gain. There can be exceptions to this (e.g when the same people make a sequel or the rights are bought), but I'm fairly certain the US Army is not interested in selling (nor giving away) the stuff they've paid to be made.

What KAEPS is doing is developing a new game. He's getting inspiration (and not actual details) from AA2 (and other sources, of course). He might even have some maps that are similar to what we had in AA. But he cannot just copy a map and use it in his own game.

Think of it this way, if Picasso made a painting and signed it. It sold for a million dollars. Then you come along and copy the painting exactly, except you put your own signature under it. This would be called forgery and is obviously illegal. It's a similar situation here.

Furthermore, as has been discussed on this topic before, the game cannot be exactly like AA2 was because that's not what people expect from a modern game. Just because you and a few dozen other people might want to get AA2 in a new "skin" or something like that, doesn't mean it's actually commercially viable. Let's face it, the current AA2 community is the vast minority of (FPS) gamers out there and you don't get far selling a new game to such a small amount of people.

Copy the "settings.dat" file from where 25Assist is installed over to your new PC and try again.

If you don't know where 25Assist is installed, refer to the first item on our FAQ.

Too bad I couldn't make it that time - I'll try and be on the next time around if I'm actually at home.
