The Lounge / How can we revive the game?
« on: Thursday, December 21, 2017, 13:23:11 PM »
Alright... so it's been a slow day at work and felt like posting something to hopefully spark some new posts.

I know it's been asked a million times, but what can we do to revive this game? I know most, if not all of us are here because of the good ol' days. We all remember the first time booting up AAO 2.X and running down the Bridge, or 203ing the vent in Pipeline. So to think this game is every going to comeback is a dream, but given that it's free, it has minimal system requirements, I feel like we have a shot to get some new users.

Tell me I am crazy... I know. Again, slow day at work, and I guess the holiday season is making me remember my childhood.

Merry Christmas anyway...

With that said, this is an old game and I would say that we're lucky we still have a player base at all.

Well said - I was surprised to see the support was still there. Great job to the AAO25 Assist team for keeping it alive - it's hard to grow the community though with the younger generations only interested in instant respawns, rocket packs, and running up walls...

I am glad to be a part of this community now, and hope it holds on a while longer...

I started playing when the first released Operations... so around 1.1 I believe - a buddy of mine got me interested, and I remembered I struggled with the PC spec requirements for a while. My original account was hacked at some point by a fellow clan member at the time (found out later), so I had to start my honor and training all over the time. I remember the first map I played was Tunnel, and spent a lot of my original hours playing Mount McKenna, Farm Raid and Bridge.

Towards the end, I was obsessed with Weapons Cache, then Weapons Cache SE... Always loved Bridge, Pipeline and of course all of their SF versions. SF Hospital was really the only "SF" map I enjoyed and then I moved on. Glad to be back - trying to get my friend who used to play, to get back into it, but it's hard when your not a kid anymore, and bedtime isn't 4:00AM like it used to be.

Thanks Teddy! The memories are flooding in now... forgot about my username change! And yes, I somehow remembered my login information for my old account!

I made a donation last night - would love to see the icon next to my name ;-) - also, what's the AA Veteran icon?

Cheers,
Darren

Good evening,
I managed to find my old username from AAO in the mid-2000s...

My username on Battletracker is "robbinsdw" and my AAO username now and back in the 2000s was "[K51]Tyrant-DF"

My honor was 42.
