Hey Branta,

welcome\welcome back to AAO25.

Unfortunately you have run into a classic bug\error. Please follow these steps to solve that issue:

1.) Start 25Assist Application
2.) If 25Assist ask you again to "Find" or "Download" the game, please click on "Find". 25Assist will for sure not find the game. Ignore this.
3.) Go to Settings-Tab (left side menu)
4.) Change the Download-Server from "SourceForge.net" to "AAO25.com"
5.) Close the 25Assist
6.) Start the 25Assist
7.) 25Assist will ask you for "Find" or "Download". Now click on "Download"

Why this bug happens ?
Unfortunately the binaries on the "SourceForge.net" are not complete. The system folder of the game is empty after download, leading to the error "Not found". By selecting "AAO25.com" as Download-Server all binaries of the game will be downloaded correctly.

Good luck !

Best regards,
AtomSoldier

Assist Support / Re: Runtime Error After Update

Hello Virus.exe,

welcome back.

Can you please provide more informations related to your update ? What excactly is been updated ? Your Assist ?

If you have not launched your assist for a very long time, I would suggest you to download the recent version of 25Assist (Windows assumed!) via this link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/aa25assist/files/Binaries/25Assist.zip/download
Continue with these steps:
1.) Unpack the 25Assist.zip
2.) Create a new folder called "25Assist" next to the 25Assist.exe
3.) Execute 25Assist.exe
4.) Login if asked for login data
4.) If 25Assist.exe ask if you want to use the 25Assist folder instead of the standard folder, press yes.
5.) Accept the terms if asked
6.) When Assist informs you that AA25 was not found, dont press "Download" just press "Find". The Assist will fail to find it which is normal.
7.) Then go under "Settings" and choose as Download-Server "AAO25.com".
8.) Exit 25Assist.exe and execute it again
9.) 25Assist will now ask again "Find" or "Download". Now you can "Download". It will need 4-5GB disk space.

Choosing the Download-Server "AAO25.com" is very important, otherwise you will suffer other problems...

Please be aware, that with this method, the AA25 is installed in the 25Assist folder. So dont delete it ;)

If you need further help, just ask again.

Good Luck !

AtomSoldier

Assist Support / Solution for the wrong Download-Server selection in 25Assist.exe
« on: Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 07:37:02 AM »
Hello all / Hello admins,

I have tried out an workarround for selecting automatically the "correct" download server, which seems to work. Maybe this will prevent some starting fails of new users...

Methodology of the solution:
1.) Downloaded 25Assist.zip from AAO25.com and extracted it
2.) I created a new folder called "25Assist" next to the 25Assist.exe (root folder).
3.) Within the 25Assist folder I have created a file called "settings.dat".
4.) I have opened the settings.dat with Notepad++/Visual Studio Code and inserted in the line 71 "AAO25.com" (without the quotes!)
5.) Saved the file !
6.) Now I started 25Assist.exe (if the first dialog asks if "25Assist" folder should be used instead of the standard one -> Confirm with Yes)
7.) Accept the terms
8.) Log In !
9.) Now you can Download the game and the Assist should download from AAO25.com. One can verify this buy pressing "Find" instead of "Dowload" and look under Settings.

Providing the solution:
(Can be done by Admins maybe):

Add in the ZIP of 25Assist the folder "25Assist". This folder have to include the "settings.dat" which contains at line 71 "AAO25.com" (without quotes)

Alternative manually solution:
Add an "README.TXT" into the ZIP of 25Assist which contains the information to change the Download-Server to AAO25.com

Information for all:  The workarround of Possessed worked for me. No more auto-downloads.

@Possessed: Can we just add this information anywhere until the bug is fixed (when you find energy and time).

Server Support / Server Configuration Files always overwritten by default file
« on: Thursday, July 14, 2022, 10:27:33 AM »
Hello all,

for configuring my AA25 server I am using the AA25 Assist Server Manager which works very fine, except the issue that always when I restart my server the application redownloading some server configuration files and overwrites my edited files. This applies to the "aa25srv.ini". I could just detect a message in the command line tool:
"Downloading Server Configuration Files...
Installing Server Configuration Files..."
When this happens, the tool downloads a 7z archive called "server821.7z" with some default server configuration files and overwrites therefore all changes I did. Is there anyway to prevent this step without the need of finding a "nasty approach" ?

I would highly appriciate when someone can clarify this.

Warm regards,

AA Support / Re: Idle Kick Bug
« on: Sunday, July 10, 2022, 13:28:52 PM »
Hello all,

I think the Idle Kick Bug is solved now.

Background:
If you use the AA25 Server Manager(recent version), several server configuration ini's etc. are downloaded automatically everytime you start the server. As far as I undestand this make editing of the ini files impossible, since it does not matter if you edit the aa25srv.ini in the System/server or in the System folder. Evertyime the server is started, the settings of the servers are resetted expect those which are set by the AA25 Server Manager but unfortunately this tool does not support all server settings. (this would lead to a very complicated gui design..) However, in the server.ini or aa25srv.ini one can see that the settings bKickIdlePlayersTimed etc. are set to false and also the correspondig fields such as IdleKickPlayerKickTime etc. To apply this settings I have changed this values in the F12 Menu called Command Post something in the game. Only as player admin you have access to this menu.
In this menu I changed the following settings:
Idle Player Kick Minutes to 10
Idle Player Kick Rounds: to 10

and press on Apply Settings / Apply Changes button  (right upper corner) before you close the menu.

Keep in mind, that if your server is restarted due to crash etc. that you have to repeat those settings, since the server config files are overwritten if you start server. I am not sure about this but I just want to mention this.

I hope this will help you also !

Why this bug happens?:
I assume that the default setting of "bKickIdlePlayersTimed=False" will cause probably the setting "IdleKickPlayersTime" to 0 and maybe this cause in for some problems due to coding bug etc. This is just an assumption since I never looked in that source code. Maybe Possessed can clear this up.

Warm regards,
AtomSoldier

Hello MERLIN,

thank you very much for your support here and also thanks to Possessed.

Unfortunately the Idle-Kick Settings in the F12 Menu are deactivated, BUT the idle kick value is set to 0. But maybe this is the problem here. Maybe the value 0 is missinterpretated by game resp. the server. So I will increase this value to high values resp. idle kick time should be longer than the round length, so the idle time will be never reached. Since I am at the work right now, I cannot test it yet, but I will do as soon as possible and in case of success I will give you feedback for sure !

AA Support / Re: Commands for query an AA25 Server
« on: Wednesday, July 06, 2022, 02:25:18 AM »
Hello 82nd_DXO_COL=Shad,

thank you for the very detailed answer ! I could just figure out the query code in hex-format "FEFD00DEADC0DEFFFF00" yesterday using WireShark sniffing the data packages :-).
Using a simple python script just worked gently as a minimal example code.

Thank you !

AA Support / Commands for query an AA25 Server
« on: Tuesday, July 05, 2022, 04:46:01 AM »
Hello everybody,

I am planing to write some scripts for querying AA25 servers. I just made such a tool 15 years ago using Visual Basic and now I want to implementing it in python or other scripting language. Unfortunately I cannot find any informations about the query command strings and how the UDP datagrams are constructed.

Two questions:
(1): Is it still possible to query an AA25 server which is ran by 25Assist Server Manager using the Query Port or is the querying restricted to the 25Assist
(2): Can someone provide informations about the query commands ?

As far as I remember, AA25 is based on unreal engine, isnt it ?

best regards,
AtomSoldier

I just want to add, that other players* also offered to help out in finding the bug/error. So maybe with unified power such as "pair programming" we will be able to get over this idle kick bug.

*I dont want to name the players here, since I did not asked them to mention them regarding this.
