Hey KiLLaMaN,
first of all i would like to thank you and all participants who took the trouble to create a new account system. I guess it is a tough piece of work. Doing this only to keep the game and the community alive without a personal benefit deserves the utmost respect.
To make a small contribution, me and a friend of mine are about to acquire new players. Actually we know a few people who are willing to join the AAO25 community. Now this is possible again. Thanks!
But as some people in forum expected, they are asking for an honor system. This would really help to give them the necessary motivation to stay in the game. I can understand that. At a certain point it could be rather frustrating for a newbie to stay at level 10, whilst others have their level 107 account (for example).
Me and other players who are in the game for 10 years and more would not really mind - maybe. But for new players it is a substantial part of the game experience to keep them motivated.
I’m just saying it. Please keep that in mind. If there is a way to implement a new honor system, it would be just great to have it. Hopefully somebody is able to create it in the future.

AA Support / Re: Custom textures for AAO2.8.5
« on: Saturday, June 03, 2017, 06:21:50 AM »
Well dudes, good to know that other people are still supporting 2.8.5. I will see you there, Vanoke. But this is not what i was asking for.

Unfortunately the conversation here is not hitting the spot.

So back to topic. I'm pretty sure that there is a way to use my own textures in 2.8.5. Maybe i'ts not that easy but it must be possible. In my humble oppinion the easiest way is to make an UTX file that is readable for the AAEditor. I tried that by creating UTX packages using "UnrealEngine2Runtime" and "UT2004" editors. But they are different versions (as i expected) and are not accepted by the AAEditor. Maybe i'm wrong but i was thinking that an encryption of the UTX file does the trick. There are tools out there to do something like this. I heard about AA2.8.5Converter, AARE and AACrypt. But i can't find any download links.

As far as i know ELiZ was one of the guys who cracked the encryption nut of 2.8.5. Maybe he or somebody from the dev team can help me to find a solution.

I would really appreciate it.

AA Support / Custom textures for AAO2.8.5
« on: Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 09:01:52 AM »
Hey guys,

i rediscovered America's Army 2.8.5 and i'm playing LAN with my buddies. Lots of fun!
I'm also trying to build my own maps using the AAEditor. They are just for private use on LAN sessions.

Since no import function is implemented in AAEditor and the texture package files of AAO2.8.5 are encrypted, it seems to be impossible to use custom textures.

Here is my question:
Does anyone have an encrypt/decrypt program for AAO2.8.5? I know that such kind of tool exists - i think it's called "AACrypt" - but i cant find a working download link. My aim is to make custom UTX files readable for 2.8.5. I know this stuff is pretty old but it would be very helpfull to have this little tool.

Can somebody post me a download link please? That would be just great.
If there is another way to import / use custom textures in AAEditor i would be thankfull for telling me how to do.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply teddy.
Well that's bad news for me. I'm not willing to run a mod on my server.
So the only way to do things like  this is to request a map file modification done by the dev team of aao25. Dang! I dont think that they would change a map just for me...
I could do it by myself but this wouldn't help (except for LAN sessions...).
I was thinking maybe there is another way to run a "REAL" script on server... The ability  to change the gameplay by the exec command is a bit sparse.
Thanks anyway.

Btw, there was a command to swap whole teams (defense <=> assault). I used it ones but i just can't remember it. Does anyone know the command line for doing this?
Also i was looking for a list of ALL commands. I'm talking about a real complete and contemporary list since things mixed up (2.5 / 2.8.5) or has got lost. And some commands has been added since 25assist.

Server Support / Change weapons in specific slots
« on: Wednesday, May 03, 2017, 10:31:40 AM »
Hey folks,
after searching in the internet for almost a week without finding a solution, i decided to ask you guys: is it possible to change the weapons in specific player slots?
I'm not talking about the 'afc' command or the admin scripts with the 'admin forceclass 1 [whatever]' command. It's rather something like all R slots are getting SF weapons or if you're in G slot you're getting GP what i'm looking for. Is there any way to do this? I saw something like that on hospital map. Some slots are giving you a RPG. Somebody changed the weapons for this slots. Is stuff like that possible without changing any original files? Can a special script do this or is it a modification of the map file...? How to do this? Can you guys steer me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

AA Support / Re: Quadrophonic or 5.1 sound does not work
« on: Monday, February 22, 2016, 13:01:00 PM »
Thanks Pipez0r for the extensive description. I already knew SoundsBack from Realtek but i could not make it work - at least not for AAO. I followed your installation instructions but no luck. Guess that this SoundsBack thing only works for a few games. If somebody knows a way to use it for AAO it would be great if he shares his knowledge here in forum.
I solved my quadrophonic problem by installing WinXP on a seperate HD and using it for playing AAO. That's the only way i know so far to get quadrophonic sound back.
It's not that elegant technically but it works. :style:
Finally i can hear where exactly the enemy is... muhohawhaaa!!!
By the way, it's a shame that i have to downgrade (or degrade  ;)) to WinXP for this. Maybe the developers of 25Assist can find a way to enable it in future - and not only for linux users please...

That's strange. On Win XP it was possible to play AA with surround sound. So whats the big deal to do that on Win 7? It's pretty important in this game to be able to hear where exactly something happens...

Thanks for reply. I already tried that. I have more than 1 audio output and the settings in game are changed to EAX. Sound card drivers are up to date. But no 3d sound...
Other games are working. But AAO does'nt.

AA Support / Quadrophonic or 5.1 sound does not work
« on: Wednesday, February 10, 2016, 10:46:16 AM »
Hey all,
does anybody now how to enable quadrophonic or 5.1 sound for AAO. I'm using my onboard sound card (Realtek) on Win 7. In Realtek HD Audio-Manager everything works fine and i get a signal from all speakers, but in game the sound is only stereo. I can't hear anything from the rear speakers. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Server Support / Random weapons
« on: Thursday, January 28, 2016, 05:34:06 AM »
Hey folks, how is it going?
Yesterday [w].^W.e.ll.o^ asked me how to do random weapon scripts on a server. I know that some threads here are covering this topic already but seemingly there are open questions.
Ok, here is what i did to get it working:

1. Download the 'weapon_randomizer_v1_5'. I found it here: http://www.gamefront.com/files/files/6559722/weapon_randomizer_v1_5.zip
Maybe this is not the newest version - but i dont mind
2. Unzip the file
3. The readme file recommends to put the WeaponRandomizer.exe into your America's Army system folder but doing this prompts an error in 25Assist. For me it worked in any directory so skip this step. Just leave it in the extracted folder.
4. Open WeaponRandomizer.exe
5. Choose the weapons or weapon set you want to randomize
6. Push 'Star Randomizer'. After a few seconds (be patient) it creates a file in the same directory named 'random.txt'. It's just a file with 1000 rows and each of them is a command to force class a player slot (slot 1 - 1000). The first row is an admin message. You can edit the message in text editor.
7. Rename this file (to keep it nice and short i named it 'r1.txt')
8. If u want to play more than one round on the row with the same set of random weapons you should repeat steps 6 and 7 because: If nothing has changed in the player list, each player will have the same weapons again because player slots are still the same. So you need several files - lets say 'r2.txt', 'r3.txt'. 'r4.txt' and so on.
9. After this put these files into your America's Army system folder
10. Now you can use them in game by typing in console 'exec r1.txt' (for the 1st round), 'exec r2.txt' (for the 2nd round), 'exec r3.txt' (for the 3rd round) and so on...

Thats it. I don't know if there are ways to do this more elegant than creating a bunch of files - if so, tell me please. At least this is working.
Hope this helps.

Happy randomizing...

Server Support / Re: Server starting problem
« on: Monday, January 25, 2016, 19:17:42 PM »
Ok, found it by myself. Actually it was a PB problem. After renaming the PB folder in
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\AAO\
and restarting the server, a new PB folder was downloaded. That did the trick. I already checked the folder before this and could'nt find something suspicious, but apparently one or several files in this folder were corrupted. A reinstall of PunkBuster would have done the same i guess but it was easier this way.

Anyway, thanks for having taken on the challenge of solving my problem. This forum is great and i'm glad to know that you guys will be there whenever i'm im trouble. I'm sure i'll need your help again soon.
See you on my server, dudes.  :style:
