The Lounge / Re: Anyone else miss the way things used to be?

I found this and thought this would bring back memories of when everyone started the game.

I first heard about AA through a Time magazine article.  I started playing around version 1.9.  So many people playing back then, everyone fighting to get into the "good" servers.  I joined a clan back then, =SouthPark=. I was the only American in a German clan! LOL!  We ran several servers, including a TWL server.  Those were the days.  Our clan had over 50+ members at the time.  I would have to get up very early so I could play with my clanmates.  I made some very good friends, who I still keep in touch with today.

Well, 2.8 came along and the clan started to dissolve.  A lot of the members did not want to upgrade, and the clan fell apart.  The next couple of years I clan hoped from =[316]=, @SS, UcG and then the 82nd.us.  It was during my time with @SS that the whole bottom of AA fell out with the shutting down of the authorization server.  We tried holding the clan together and playing different games, but it wasn't to be.  It would be awhile till I found about ASSIST.  And now....even ASSIST is falling apart.

I will play as long as there are servers and people who want to play, but not sure how long that will be.  I did discover some 2.8.5 servers still around, some people playing COOP (Bot) maps.  We have tried to make a go of that, but again we only have a few die hard fans.

I will stick with the 82nd till Shad shuts it down, after that I am not interested in Clans.  The day of the Clans is gone.  Gaming is just not like it use to be.......sad.

Big Clan Day / Re: THX All supported clans in past for BCD welcome new way inputh.

The only issue I can see that stands in the way are people not liking the maps.  The whole concept of Big Clan Day was to rotate through ALL the maps so people could play something different.  Unfortunately there are those who only like to play three maps; Pipeline, Hospital and Weapons Cache.

What me might do is take the top 10 maps and just play those.  I know that wasn't the original concept, but we would probably get more people to play.  Just a thought.

I have been out of the loop for awhile, but have admins made a decision of maps to be played this week?

Otherwise it would be like Hospital, Pipe, Urban and Bridge every week :)

People have to understand that the idea behind BCD is to play maps that are NOT played on a regular basis.  We try and go through all the maps throughout the year.  Granted there will be times that the maps are those that are played quite often.

I personally like playing all the maps even though I have my favorites.  Some people will just come play a map or two and leave, and that is okay.  No one is forced to play the maps, but we do like to have as many people as we can.  The more people who play, the more fun we have.

iL is running American BCD and it has been up. But because BCD US server is down it had been played in iL server. Just keep an eye for shoutbox in sundays and you will know where to go and when.

I am aware the iL is running BCD, I wanted to know why the OFFICIAL America BCD server is down.  There are those of us who are admins, but we do not have admin rights on the iL servers.

Who is in charge of keeping the American BCD server up and running?  The past several weeks it has been down.

When I first started playing and I was an Urban Whore, I remember being able to throw a nade almost across the map! LOL!

Vanoke gets dogged by those people who don't even participate in BCD.  Lot of talk from people who never stepped up during the year to help out.

Big Clan Day / Re: Best gameplaytime for BCD America/Canada/South America
« on: Monday, June 01, 2015, 22:21:08 PM »
I believe the later hours will bring more American players to BCD.  I like the hours that -iL^eXehaLe suggested, and if we see it as a problem, adjust accordingly.  We want to ensure that we get the most bang for our buck.

I would like to see the same maps played as the Europeans so in keeping with the spirit of BCD.  Maybe Europeans pick one week, Americans pick the next.  If in the future we want to "split" BCD, and everyone involved is okay with that, then we will.

One think we need to make clear are the admins responsibilities.  We can't have 20 admins, or any one particular clan running the show every week.  We either come up with a rotation system, or reduce the number of admins, limiting two (2) from each clan participating.  I don't mind sharing the duties and stepping back when needed.

The biggest thing is involvement.  Either people are supporting BCD or they are not.  I understand if someone just wants to play and have no responsibilities, but we can't have people saying they are willing to get involve then never show up.  I have seen it too many time in the past couple of months where a clan was suppose to run the servers and no one ever showed up.  I realize we all have lives, families, jobs, etc. but if you cannot commit or at least be responsible to let someone know you aren't able to do your "shift" then don't bother being an admin.

If I book well in advance, I can get round trip tickets from where I live to Chicago for about $400.  I can manage that.  Keep talking about it and lets see if we can make this possible.

But if European players were to meet up there would have to be another location (preferably in Europe).

Maybe you should encourage European Players to do the same somewhere in Europe.  I think that would be very cool.

A discussion came up in TS about us all gathering in one location to meet, party and play AA 2.5.  We chose Chicago because many on TS do not live far from that location.
