I did click on the "make a donation" mark where help keep assist going doante to cover server costs.
I've donated last year though didn't know how to make it also when I go to see my donation I can't see it either
...
If you don't see it on your end, then it must have not gone through for whatever reason. You can try and contact Nick directly if you like - he's the one that handles the donation account.

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Ban Standardization
« on: Thursday, February 27, 2025, 16:52:06 PM »
To answer Hpye's original question, I don't think any precise rules are needed.

Be kind to each other and respectful as you would want to be treated. Joke around but understand there may be consequence if you repeatedly go to far and this community finds what you are doing as offensive. You all know what is socially acceptable and don't act like you don't. Act like you would as if you were in front of that person. Know when you cross the line and be man or woman enough to say sorry when you do or think you did.

This should not be that difficult to follow.
I think this sentiment is correct. But there is nuance that a lot of people seem to miss.

Like I've said before, we're an international community. And as such, many have different cultural backgrounds. Which means different tolerances for certain activities. I don't think anyone is saying you can't joke around with your friends / people you know. I'm pretty sure I call Bart a hacker every time I see him online - I know he can take it :) ! But I don't do that with people I don't know.

I guess the TLDR would be: don't assume that other people have the same tolerance for "trash talk".

PS: What do you do when you assume?

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Ban Standardization

I will entertain this thread as if this was a genuine interest in fairness rather than a specific interest in getting an individual unbanned (which it clearly is).

Others have already covered the visibility aspects of this. So I'll try to focus on the standardization.

I think you're right. There could be more transparancy regarding behaviour related bans. While we do have a TOS to cover the very basics, it is rather vague (as these things tend to be).
With that said, I'd wager a guess you can't probably list many players that have seen behaviour related bans. Especially permanent ones. And that should go to show how seriously we take this responsibility.
But the problem is, you can't easily take these examples as a line in the sand because (most likely) you weren't there for all of the referenced behaviour. And hell, some of the behaviour may not even have been referenced publically. Perhaps that is part of the problem (I don't think so, but the community sentiment may differ).

There's a great saying where I come from: "kus viga näed laita, seal tule ja aita". I suppose the rough translation being "If you see a problem, help fix it"
We are a community after all. And community guidelines should reflect the values of the community. So if you think you've got the ability to help get things rolling, then please do so. If we keep the process of creating these guidelines open to the community, they're far more likely to actually voice the viewpoint of the community.

So I'd call upon anyone that's (actually) interested in the fairness of the action the Assist admin team takes to come forward and voice their opinion.
Though do please do so in the following manner:
  • Each separate point to address in the guidelines in a separate paragraph
  • Each paragraph starts with a bolded phrase / sentence to summarise it
  • Each paragraph continues a longer body of justification and description of the point
Topics that could be of interest:
  • When does behaviour / speech become harassment?
  • What metrics should be used to classify a message threatening?
  • What metrics should be used to classify a message embarassing?
  • Where is the line for untolerated hate speech?
  • What is the level of offensive language that should be allowed?
Things to bare in mind while trying to answer these questions:
  • 25Assist is not the US government. Whether you're from the US or elsewhere, we can take action on speech / behaviour that would be protected by the US' first amendment (which protects citizens' speech from being suppressed by the government)
  • We have an international community. Different countries/cultures have different values. Yours is not more correct than someone else's
  • The whole point of a community guidelines is to show the viewpoint of the community, not an individual

I find these questions incredibly hard to answer. But I'm sure others in the community are better suited for the task.

I think you may be right. If this video was indeed created in 2003, it was before the era of YouTube. So it may very well be lost to the times.

I reckon the only way you'd be able to have any chance of seeing this again if you (somehow) contacted the other people involved in making the video. I find it most likely that the person who montaged it together could either still have it or know where it is. Though even that has a slim chance, really.

Best of luck!

The login name for your account is "JohnnyTsunami90". I.e it does not end with 1990.

something is fishy. i tried everything, with email, with username but nothing seems to work :\ still cant get in.

I get the email for resetting the password, i reset it but cant log in after. could you just forward me the current password somehow? to the registred mail would be fine i have access to it, or PM here.
We don't have your password. As is the norm everywhere else, we have a hash of your password with some salt that we compare to your input (with salt, after hashing).

With that said, there is now a record of the account having had a password reset. So there's progress in the sense that you've reset the password for the correct account.
Are you sure you've used the correct password when logging in to this account? I.e one from the latest password reset.
PS: Do note that it may feel like you're able to change the password multiple times with the same pass reset link. But only the first one would be taken into account. And if you've made multiple password reset requests, only the last one will be active.

Yes sir!

and this is what i get when i try to log in. Just reset password again and it still dont work  :(

You're most likely changing the password of the wrong account. There is no record of a password reset request having been issued for this account.

As a note, you only need to enter your username, not username and email in the form. If you enter both, only the email is used.

The account you're trying to change the password for has an email in the form of <redacted>@bluewin.ch. So once you've requested a password reset by entering just the login name (or the correct email) you should see the corresponding email in the inbox of the corresponding email address.

I don't think there's currently a way to change your login or display name for the forums for users.

That said, the admins could make the change manually. You can PM me if you wish.

thank you for the help! now will i have to always sign in using the KDS....its been a looong time and i doubt i'm even with that clan anymore.
That's just your login name. So nobody other than you will see it.

There is currently no way of (automatically) changing it. Though if you really want to, we could do it manually.

I don't see any reason your account would need activation. It's an old account with plenty of prior activity on it.

Though it's possible you're using another account to login. Do note that the in game name and the login name are different.
The in game name for your accounts is in fact "BEER_F0R3V3R{ICE}". However, the login name is "ICE Spiker". This account has 86 honor.

In fact, the account you're probably trying to log in with (with login name of "BEER_F0R3V3R{ICE}" and in game name of "BEER_F0R3V3R{ICE}2") was in fact rejected over 2 years ago.

If you've forgot your password for the original account you can reset the password (see link under Assist Account at the top of the page). The email attached to it is in the form ***[email protected] (obfuscated full email for obvious reasons).
