Assist Support / Mouse button as action key
« on: Wednesday, September 03, 2014, 01:38:27 AM »
I've always had mouse5 set as an action key.  Recently, for objects that you have to hold it down for, it doesn't activate the objective status bar.  For example, in pipeline, turning the valve (turns the valve), but the green meter bar doesn't come up.  Nor for the computer objective.  Setting the 'action' key back to a keyboard binding works ok.  For mouse, it does not.  I recently changed the mouse, so it might be the mouse but I thought I'd run it by here since you guys are always shutting down macros and such to see if maybe that was it.

Feedback & Suggestions / Shoutbox content
« on: Friday, August 29, 2014, 21:33:53 PM »
I'm guessing the purpose of having the website shoutbox in the Assist client was to foster community.  But the same content on the website on the Assist client seems to be full of drama and whiny people.  Drama and complaints probably shouldn't be on the Assist client.  It gives a false impression of our community.  Well, maybe not a false one...
But it is full of useless reading because now we've made it easier for trolls and people needing support to just use the shoutbox rather than come on here and make a post.  I'm not sure what a solution would be other than to remove it, because the alternative would be to moderate it, which would be difficult to do.  Or, leave it like it is, giving new players the impression that what's left of the community is not worth considering the game.  Many people come to play the game to get away from drama.

Assist Support / Changing your player name through Assist causes problems
« on: Wednesday, August 27, 2014, 00:36:42 AM »
I'm getting reports that our clan mates who are changing their AA playernames directly through the Assist client are getting their clan settings on battletracker reset.
Traditionally, we've always told people when they changed their AA playername to change it on battletracker.  That still works, and their clan settings migrate.  Lately though, clan members are changing it through the Assist client.  When that happens, battletracker shows the name change and records stats, but they drop off the clan page - i.e. they have to go into battletracker and redo their clan settings again.  Sometimes we've had people change it on battletracker like we tell them to, then erroneously think they have to change it on Assist and it overwrites their clan settings again.

Feedback & Suggestions / mapvote
« on: Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 12:51:49 PM »
mapvote is unusable in a server.  It's primary bug is that it allows 1 player to change the map by spamming 'YES'.  It does not seem to ignore a player within the vote time after they have specified 'YES' or 'NO' or asked for a map vote.  That may not be the actual case, if indeed it only allows one vote per player per timer, but somehow 1 or 2 players in a populated server are able to do it, and there is no feedback from the server.
The other problem is that you cannot list the map names.  Experienced players might know what they are, but they do not allow for a truly public browsing of the map choices.
I suggest you keep an array of playernames with their vote choice, as well as where they are at in a list command (as there are a lot of map names) that resets with the timer as well as some feedback to the player who has already started a mapvote.
If you need help I can code unrealscript and have access to crusade's original mapvote for 2.5

Feedback & Suggestions / DDOS Attacks - Remove addresses
« on: Wednesday, February 26, 2014, 12:46:47 PM »
I don't know if these attacks are annoying anyone or not.  Apparently whoever is doing them doesn't much usage of the LOIC and they don't last long.  But, I have some ideas on making it harder for whomever is doing it to work harder doing it.

First thing I'd like people to do is look at the Assist server list and see who may be benefiting - who's left.  Maybe there's a douchebag trying to drive player traffic their way.  The other possibility is that somebody is just being a douchebag and has no interest.

I hate to go to this extreme, but I think I will have to pull server information out of Battletracker to keep IP and port information private.  Same goes for GameTracker and other similar sites as well.  These attacks are targeted towards AA ports using a known problem in the Unreal 2.5 engine.  I would ask that Assist remove both the IP information and Port information from the Assist client.  Individual users do not need them to connect anymore.  The information should stay private within the Assist client.
While some of us may not have the flexibility to change IP addresses, we do have the flexibility to change our ports.  And yes, I know technically a person can still get that information, but would have to go through a hell of a harder time to do so, especially with multiple servers.  I'd rather take the fun out of it for them.

AA Support / Getting flare back on SFRecon (WeaponsMod.ini explanation)
« on: Monday, January 20, 2014, 22:11:20 PM »
Code: [Select]
;  WeaponMod.ini description by Shad
;  The way personal weapon mods work is that in your local client System folder, you
;  have a file called WeaponsMod.ini
;  Everytime a server classes you to 'Weapon_M4A1_Rifle_mod' (class SF), it references this file for your setup.
;  You would then choose a weapon 'set' when connected to the server.
;  A long time ago, I remember being able to change this file in the America's Army client.  You had a weapons config tab.
;  I did this when SFRecon was released so I could have the flare launcher.  I discovered all this when researching how to get it back.
;  In 2.5, this is gone.  You can still modify WeaponsMod.ini, where the settings are stored.
;  In theory, anytime an admin would forceclass you to SF, you could use a custom file (maybe why they took out of the client)
;
;  Some Mod Attachments available but not all tested:
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Acog4x
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield          typically used when doing without the grenade launcher
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M203_Gren
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M4qd_Suppressor     add the ability to fit a supressor
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Flare_Gren          M203 launcher that can take M583 Flares - works nice on SFRecon!
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Harris_Bipod
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_AKs74u_Ironsight
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Anpeq5_Laser        Maybe nightvision + scope.
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Anpvs10_Sight       Night vision scope.  Possibly related to Anpeq5_Laser
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_BS1_Gren
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Compact_AimPoint
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Cone_Suppressor
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Ironsight
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Kobra_Reflex
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M68_AimPoint
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_PBS4_Suppressor
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_PSO
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Reflex
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_SPR_Suppressor
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_VariX_Scope
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Vintorez_Scope
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Virtual_Cone_Suppressor
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Virtual_SPR_Suppressor
;  AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_VliFlashLight
;
;  How to add a weapon.  You can modify one of the 'sets'.  Only 5 are allowed.
;  Here is an example on how to modify a 'set'.
;  To add the 'flare' (M203) launcher on Set 5 (index 4),
;
;  Slot_0_(4)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Acog4x
;  Slot_1_(4)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
;  Slot_2_(4)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
;  Slot_3_(4)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
;  Slot_4_(4)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Flare_Gren
;  Slot_5_(4)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M4qd_Suppressor

;  this file can be used to replace your copy of WeaponMods.ini.  It will be rewritten without the comments
;
;  So, the full example might look like this:  ()
[WeaponMods]
CurrentWeapon=AGP_Inventory.Weapon_M4A1_Rifle_Mod

[AGP_Inventory.Weapon_M4A1_Rifle_Mod]
CurrentIndex=1
NumMods=5
IndexName(0)=Set 1
IndexName(1)=Set 2
IndexName(2)=Set 3
IndexName(3)=Set 4
IndexName(4)=Set 5
Slot_0_(0)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Acog4x
Slot_1_(0)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_2_(0)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_3_(0)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_4_(0)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M203_Gren
Slot_5_(0)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M4qd_Suppressor
;
Slot_0_(1)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M68_Aimpoint
Slot_1_(1)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_2_(1)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_3_(1)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_4_(1)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M203_Gren

Slot_1_(2)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_2_(2)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_3_(2)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_4_(2)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Harris_Bipod
Slot_5_(2)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_M4qd_Suppressor
;

Slot_1_(3)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_2_(3)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_3_(3)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_HeatShield
Slot_4_(3)=AGP_Inventory.WeaponMod_Harris_Bipod

Running a linux server, and noticed a AntiPoke version mismatch error when connecting to the server.
The filelist shows:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root   root   129731 Jan 19 19:10 Antipoke.u
-rw-r--r-- 1 root   root   129536 Dec 20 18:06 AntiPoke.u

Apparently the difference is the capital P

You can get it here

Removed D (demolitions), NADES (grenades), RPG
Removed 'sfs' whatever corresponding AGP_Character class that was
Fixed weapon match typo for AK47SU to AK74SU
Changed weapon choices description
Fixed errors parsing extra spaces in weapons requests
Added GIVEME or !GIVEME as alternate trigger to MOD
Removed 'himself' from pick notification

Added back in choice for D, NADES, RPG (but can be turned off)
Only shows/allows available weapons as configured in picker.ini
Fixed bug where 1 person in server gets assigned RIFLE on the 1st pick no matter what they choose

Feedback & Suggestions / Donation goal graphcs/buttons ect
« on: Saturday, January 11, 2014, 18:23:57 PM »
I know you have moved the donation button to the Assist client, but might be cool if you had something on the website that described what your monthly goal is so that people are more aware of what's needed.
I can supply some bargraph php script examples and a paypal return page script example if needed
