I would like to hear you opinion about increasing power of SPR rifle.

In my opinion damage of this weapon is underestimated. I suggest increasing it. Bullet energy may be considered linearly proportional to weapon damage. So according to Wikipedia energy of common AA weapons are:

M24  2,580 ft/s 175 gr 582435000.0
M4   2,900 ft/s  62 gr 260710000.0
M16  3,110 ft/s  62 gr 297910000.0
SPR  2,750 ft/s  77 gr 291156250.0




Oh SHIT! I see that it have same energy as M16..... How about replacing it with m24?

Dear Guys!

Unfortunately I've been ill and I was thinking too much. Now I've got a fresh idea which I'm going to share with you. So here we go:

What if we write here our short resumes focused mostly on skills that can be usefull for our comunity. You may also write how mouch time can you sacrafice. Is there anyone who want to start, because I'm not brave enough and I'll be secound one.

I've decided to write here about my idea, because shout box is full of various discussions.

I'd suggest we should launch new project which goal will be to create clone of Americas Army operations. As we know works of  the United States government are in public domain, but developers don't want to share code with us. That's not a problem we can create it by ourselves! We just have to get all hands on deck! You should see that we have all the animations, models, maps and other data that can be extracted from the game. What we have to do is to rewrite the game core which is closed and can not be easily decompiled.

Staying with Unreal Engine is not best opinion, because it is closed and old. It would be better if we chose some "modern" and open engine, like idTech4 or closed but quite good Source. We may think about integrating game witch steam API to provide Accounts management and servers browsing and/or matchmaking, etc...

So guys please share with me you opinion about that. Should we try to get founds on kickstarter or rather do it as volunteers?

Hi.

I was talking with Jared about changes that could be deployed to our society. I was obligated to analyse it and write down my suggestions, so please read it carefully and give me your feedback.

Introduction

My main idea is to create back-end, which will be responsible for accounts, forum, game and statistics. It is huge step for our society, and I hope you wouldn't be disappointed. Statistics integration will make Battletracker useless, I don't know what would be done with current statistics, but it could be both rewritten or loose. It has some advantages, because we would have independent account management.

Some technical details
To create back-end, we need to have nice database and I think that MongoDB would be good choice there. On the top of that we could put RESTful API that could be used by WebSite and AssistApplications. I tend to pick EVE(http://python-eve.org/) as our RESTfull framework. It is quite easy to define data model, and extend it with some other features like authentication.

I was thinking what could I destroy today, but instead of it I've got an idea to implement ingame ShoutBox.


Create command like `shoutbox`, which will make shout with HTTPrequest, same as assist do.

Auth server will push info to game server, which will brodcast message to the clients.

Hi,
I wold like to present you my idea about fighting with bug users. It is because lot of hack-hunter warnings is just ancient. In my opinion it would be much better, to provoke weapon jam (`strawberry`) instead of shaking player. Also hack hunter information shouldn't be visible for enemy, cause it give him unfair advantage.

I would like to inform that you have mad another terrible security fail.

The problem is that shoutbox posting script /stats/proces_shout_assist.php inst enough secure for unauthorised post send. In cause of this it is possible to send message signed by name of someone who actually is playing.

Introduction

As you see current Assist implementation have lot of errors. Lot of them are hidden. For example lot of protocol security issues and file data base, which works good while files are small enough. Last, but most important disadvantage is programming language, which was chosen by previous developers and which is incredibly annoying.


Proposition

Write new one, faster one, easier one, safer one, cuter one. Write it in C++, python and php... How the hell we can write it in php? Well, my idea about GUI is quite strange. I know that is hard to write application that looks good on all desktop environments. My favorite GUI framework is Qt, which is really powerful tool, but it have terrible disadvantage -- it is heavy.  So I decided to chose environment that is safe and that is really portable. Environment like that is web browser. Lot of things that are good could stay unchanged or gently modified . For example communication protocol. It need some lifting (encryption, standardization).

Components

assist-auth -- Aauthorization server, which tasks are very similar to tasks of current authorization server. It uses data base service, and provides interfaces for www, clent and server.
assist-db -- Data Base service that store all authorization data like: users, bans, servers, etc...
assist-www -- Substitute of graphical user interface. It provides all functionalities that are currently provided by Assist client. It uses redirection to assist: url, to communicate with client daemon.
assist-url -- Url handler with one task -- handle and send requested url to client daemon.
assist-d -- Client daemon, which takes care of armyops directory, communicate with authorization server and starts game client.
assist-server -- Server that communicate with authorization server, and maintains running game server by uscript module.
assist-script -- Uscript module that allows server to maintain game server.
army-client -- America's Army 2.5 game client.
army-server -- America's Army 2.5 game server.
