Welcome to the redesigned AAO25.com. utRoda has been working hard to make this site easier to use and navigate as well as add features the previous website was missing or didn't implement properly.
Please note that not everything is 100% finished. There will be bugs and issues. If you find one or would simply like to make a suggestion, reply to this thread and be as detailed as you possibly can. Thank you.
-
My personal suggestions:
- Less gap between user info column and forum post.
- Link and stats for unread private messages towards the top of the page.
- Link to view unread messages/threads on the forum.
-
Private messages show up in the profile dropdown, and when you have an unread one you get a bubble notification that will let you know, no way to explain it until you see for yourself.
-
Then perhaps say "0 Unread Private Messages" :)
-
Then perhaps say "0 Unread Private Messages" :)
That can be done.

Should the 'buttons': Getting Started, Media and maybe Servers be avaliable in the Main page of the site along with Forum / Login / Admin 'buttons'?

I agree.

looks fresh. Hooah
-
This is cool, matching very well with the client itself. Been loving utRoda's work long time!
-
congratulations for this new looking page. also fast and - hopefully - more stable :)
maybe i did miss something - then sorry. but if not, could you please make an advice about comming work. i didn't know about that downtime. also not for how long it will be not available.
so maybe i didn't read it - but i guess i jump here more the 2 times a day - almost impossible not to see such a message.
thanks!
-
Great job!
How about you guys add more or unread topics as it was in the previous forum?
It was easier for me to see main topics that were active.
-
nice work guys!
we post it here too:

hey Spanky
could you fix this one - at main page - select SERVERS, an error appears. can you link that one there?
http://natescomp.com/list/ (http://natescomp.com/list/)
but the icons of the maps are now "gone". do not know why...
edit:
and at the frontpage - current version is there 8.04 :D
-
many people think that 2.8.5 is dead but we need to explain that 2.5 is like 2.8.5
for example the uniforms and the Radar. You have a gameplay video from 2.5 where we can see its like 2.8.5 ? that people finally believe it?

New design looks great. Feels way more in touch with the Assist client.
However, will there be a quick reply option later on? Saves an extra action on the forum. Also I agree with ArmyAntiCheat, a more elaborate Recent Topics would be awesome. It was the function I used the most.
-
It looks pretty cool :)
Good job guys!
-
I, personally, always have a hard time changing forum layout

Merlin, not all of the code is ported over yet, there was a major overhaul on the server side code, so we have to touch just about every file. We will get it up in the next few days.
-
There is now a unread button within the recent topics header.
Also tightened up the poster information area.
-
thanks Spanky
btw: after one day with the new layout of this page i feel very comfortable with it.
again, good job, well done! thank you.

I think what Vanoke was trying to say was that it's hard to access the site from a mobile device (such as a phone and/or a tablet).
He's saying the site doesn't load on the first try on mobile devices and that it works OK on the second.
Seeing the layout it's entirely possible that a phone with a low resolution would have a hard time loading up the page, but I can't verify as I've yet to try that.
-
that also but more stress it is to log out i try it in home but that puth me back to forum , then try it in forum
but get this :
An Error Has Occurred!
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

I kind of miss it too. One right below the shoutbox.
-
What are you talking about its at the bottom of the site?
Wow I completely missed that. Sorry.
-
what are you guys crazy, it has moved? Its in the same spot as the old forum.
-
I thought UX designers were meant to make things more intuitive and pleasant for the users. Here you are making us scroll all the way down for a mod that was installed. Easy way out methinks.
-
How is the mod important to you? Every users that posts in the thread also has an indicator which shows if they are online.
Its in the same spot, and is in even more spots. ;)
-

I didn't even know the old site had the online users at the bottom. I thought it was just right below the shoutbox... lmao. This is good though. I just never thought to scroll all the way down.
-
Spanky?
lol big mistake from my side, sorry!
for sure utRoda

LULZ No.

on the Server tab, since today, the players are not shown by detail.
yesterday it was all good there.
-
Merlin, try a hard refresh.
Currently our cache busting system isn't quite right. I will fix this some time today.
-
Fixed the cache buster, this should solve any issues people might have.
-
thanks a lot!
-
Great job on the site Jared!!
-
Thanks for that, that's what we lacked on these here forums.
On a more serious note:
I don't know how easy or hard it might be, but:
Right now we can enter our AA username in our profile for others to see.
It would be real cool, though, if we could enter our battletracker ID and then it would fetch the name from there.
This way the name would always be current.
It could then also be a link to that players BT page.
Of course, there could also be just the username slot as well for those who don't know how/can' be bothered to find their BT ID.
Just an idea I was thinking of while trying to sleep the other day.
-
Quiting my self, the truth.
This is what he give to his kids to eat(must be the reason for them to be always sick...), just as his father did with him when he was a kid. Thats why his full of shit. Sad.
-
Teddy I thought that was a good idea, player names are now clickable and takes you to their battletracker.

Many are showing as invalid links...
-
Can't help that as users don't have the their updated/current names in there.

I think it must be something else...my link does not come up...wickid and Spanky also just to name a few.

That's because my in-game name isn't tigobitties anymore, it's something like "aasvr.us | tigobitties" but I'm not bothered enough to check it.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that this code won't work. The player in question has to actually be logged in. The code that sends you to Battletracker first sends a query to the Auth server to get the player's BTID. The query fails if the player isn't logged into Assist and thus, sends you to an invalid link on Battletracker. I'm 90% sure on this.
-
I'm pretty sure you're mistaken, Spanky.
You see, I know Merlin isn't playing right now, but when I clicked on his link it forwarded me to his BT. It works OK.
But to make it work better than just 'OK', we would need the players to specify their BT ID so that we could then always link to that one.
-
I'm pretty sure you're mistaken, Spanky.
It's entirely possible. It was a long time ago that Jonny set up that query method.
-
new site looks great!
Couple of suggestions:
You are missing the favicon.ico in dist/imgs (or at least it's not showing in firefox).
In case you need one, made one (http://shartley.net/pictures/favicon.ico)
Mobile browsers have a problem logging into the site, and this just isn't this look, it was the previous one as well. Maybe the divs (class brand) are stomping over the login ul block. Nothing happens if you are able to press login.
Here is a screenshot in mobile (webkit)
-
Shad, thanks for the info, but as i already stated we know of this, but there are other issues we need to handle first.
-
LULZ No.
Well then have a separate page or at least something for the TS. What's the point of having a TS if nobody knows we have a TS or can get the info?
-
we need to find a better way to do it, the javascript view that we used, its really bad. It bogs down the site.
-
bogs down how, in terms of connections or cpu usage? I made a php script that grabs info once per page load if you want a look but there's plenty of better looking examples out there. You just have to make sure the query account is configured correctly.
-
The javascript for the ts viewer is blocking, which stops the other scripts from loading.

We don't really need a TS viewer, just some way to let people know we have an official AAO25 TS. Would a link underneath the shoutbox that opens TS and joins the TS be possible? It would say something like "Join Official AAO25 TeamSpeak Server" They'd be able to click on it to open up TS and automatically join.
If not, just the text and the IP would be good. Maybe have the TS server and all of the official LSP AA servers listed too.
-
"Join Official AAO25 TeamSpeak Server"
What about this on the loading screen?
-
Just make a new tab on top saying something like Official AAO Ts3 Server
-
Can't help that as users don't have the their updated/current names in there.
It's not this because I know my username is right, it just doesn't work.
-
Hey!
I've got a problem with the 'New' button on threads that have new posts since my last visit.
It used to link to the first post that I hadn't read, but now it seems to always just link to the last post in the thread.
This causes me to have unread posts on some topics and since I'd like to read everything, that annoys me a little.
Thanks for the attention.
-
I've noticed that as well. Not sure why it's happening though.
-
The version on the main page is wrong again. It says 8.06, although we're on 8.08.

This is still true.
Plus, like said numerous times before, the DNS issue is still at large.
I can't even log in to the site from my school without using a proxy server now.
(the same goes for trying to visit it on my mobile network)
I saw James post on shoutbox that the problem might have been fixed, but clearly it hasn't, unfortunately.
-
yes, this is really not good at all. should be fixed or - changed
-
Stop complaining, the new site is great!
